  1. Have to agree I would like to see someone else involved instead of Peter Oakes, I feel that teh guy has too many fingers in anyone pie that cannot possibly have enough time to do the job justice.
  2. I don't think that it is, I would be hard pressed to make a connection with him and Scunthorpe, the only National league club he rode for was Newcastle.
  3. No I don't think so, Brett had bright red hair.
  4. Will somebody please put me out f my misery and tell me who number 1 is, he is wearing a Sheffield body colour but I have not got a clue who it is.
  5. Right here we go; (1) Not sure who that is but should. (2) Nicky Allott father of Adam. (3) Stephen Collins youngest of the Collins clan. (4) Rob Hollingworth. (5) Peter Mcnamara (6) Arthur Browning (7) Steve Finch (8) Don't know have a guess at Mike Wilding. (9) Craig Pendlebury (10) Andy Hines (11) Keith Evans (12) Paul Evitts (13) No idea, again guess at Kevin Teager (14) Nigel Crabtree. Well Scunny Stag how did I do.
  6. Like Dean I was born in 1964, so I never got too see the Great Peter Craven, but my Dad used to tell me all about him, and somewhere in there house they have a photo of Peter. Great article Ron and one that throughly enjoyed reading.
  7. Have to agree with you on the John Berry been an independent boss of speedway, I had never thought about him.
  8. Harsh words SCB but there is an element of truth in what you are saying, but lets be fair you never quite sure how a rider is going to develop. Who would have guessed that Chris Harris would win a Grand Prix, reach a final, and still be in the top eight with one round to go. I do take your point though, I think that sometimes people do say a rider will be a Grand Prix one day too easily.
  9. Does not mean we have to stop trying, put the proper kind of money, all 4 of the tracks I have mention are capable and I think would be keen to get involved.
  10. My 15 would be (1) Nicki Pedersen (2) Jason Crump (3) Leigh Adams (4) Chris Harris (5) Tomas Gollob (6) Hans Andersen (7) Scott Nicholls (8) Rune Holta (9) Jarek Hampel (10) Freddie Lingren (11) Andreas Jonsson (12) Kristoph Kasperzak (13) Davey Watt (14) Bjarne Pedersen (15) World under 21 Champion.
  11. I think it is something that the BSPA have to look at, I know I was talking to Jonathon Chapman, who told me that that he was trying to buy some 80cc bikes for the Kings Lynn training sessions, and trying to ge the BSPA interested about putting some money in. We could have Centre of Excellence at Sittingborne, Kings Lynn, Scunthorpe and Northside, where youngsters could hire bikes, this coutry needs to invest in the youth talent is there, but we need to back these youngsters.
  12. Have to say I prefer the old one offs, I think they add to the drama and the excitement, more than the Grand Prix.
  13. Thanks for posting the photo's really enjoyed looking at them.
  14. I think that alot will depend on whether or not Kyle will get the backing that he desperately needs, and where he is going to ride next season.
  15. There is a total lack of USA riders, other than Chris Kerr, I don't see any of the young Americans coming through.
  16. I liken Jason to Kelly Moran, there is no doubt that the young guy is brilliant to watch, but he is not alone, young Sarg has been progressing nicely, and to win this meeting when it is first look at the track was a feather in his cap. James might not be as spectacular as Jason, but he is only the same age, and he is a very very intelligent rider , more of a thinker where as Jason do everything naturally, and probably cannot explain how he does it.
  17. We have two Brits in the top 8 going into the final Grand Prix, sorry but there are not the quality of riders coming through from the States at the moment, and I don't think that the American public would support an event that has only one USA representitive.
  18. Well Done to James Sargeant, on a well deserved win, and people ought to know not only is Jason Garrity only 13 so is James. Nice to see so many of the youngsters who were regulars at Sheffield James, Jason, Cameron Hoskins and Jack Hirst, and Cameron is only 12 as far as I can remember. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the write that feature on this thread, which gave the impression that Jason was going to blast everybody away, no credit given to James and no mention of him, hopefully people are going to sit up and take notice of this quiet South Yorkshire lad. Jason is spectular and very good to watch, but is prone to making mistakes, which James does not tend to do, and is far more of a polished rider, either way it is nice to see them do so well, and providing they can both get the backing will go on to be very good riders. WELL DONE SARG
  19. Well Done Scotty Nicholls, and it is looking as though we will have 2 riders qualify for next years Grand Prix.
  20. That is the problem they are talking about putting more on, I think before much longer, there are going to be riders that ride just in the Grand Prix.
  21. Never mean't that he would retire from speedway full stop, but just the Grand Prix, so he will be able to spend more time with the family.
  22. Suppose so, but I don't see the American public coming out to support a Grand Prix.
