  1. Carter was so unlucky and who knows thing's could of turned out so differently for him. It was 50/50 but Penhall was very lucky he got the call no doubt about that, that incident was on a par with the Nielsen/Knudsen incident in 86.
  2. He never really beat a top field, top of there game when he won the USA national championships in the late seventies 79/1980? Autrey had his dispute i think it ruled him out until 1980 Autrey he qualified i believe for the Overseas Final at white city in 1980. I went to White city in 77 Penhall rode(was competetive) Bast looked totally out of his depth he said he did not get anough practice maybe he didnt but i did exspect him to qualify that day was disappointed with his performance.
  3. Was talented no doubt ,always had good aquipment, and i believe he would of done well. I think if he had gone to say Wimbledon he would of done ok but he was not confident anough in his own ability to come out of his comfort zone.No comparison really between himself and Autrey and others who come over and proved themselves in World speedway.
  4. Spot on Wilkinson and Young would be in amongst the greats.
  5. All legends in my book and everyone have there own opinions on who were the better. But just going on stats and records in world finals this is what order the Brits would come out in.1.Craven. 10 appearances winner in 55 and 62 on the rostrum twice in 57 and 60 and fourth twice. 2.Williams 4 appearances winner in 50 and 53 also second in 52. 3.Lee. 6 appearances winner in 80 on the rostrum in 79 and 83 and fourth once in 77. 4.Collins. 8 appearances winner in 76, also second in 77. 5.Price. 4 appearances winner in 49. 6.Parker. 6 appearances Second in 49 and fourth in 37. 7.Kitchen. 3 appearances
  6. I don't disagree with you having opinion at all but why? would you say in the first place NOT the brightest spark hardly complimentary is it also you don't even know the bloke. Also i don't dislike Morris as i know he is well respected but he has done nothing yet to get the job.I hardly ever agree with you but I respect your opinion, but my bug bearer with you is what you said also you might not be a Middleditch fan but again you were disrespectful maybe you could of worded things differently that's all i am saying.
  7. I have changed my mind WK, double points have to stay! no only joking i hate it as much as you do.
  8. You are so patronising it is unbelievable, what gives you the right to say that about Rossiter do you know him?.I am not a great mate of his but he is nobodies fool as for Middlo( not Muddlo again uncalled for). You don't win what he has by being a mug, captains are important of course but like Oliver,Adams a few examples greats of the past you need a balance experience, respect, and the most important thing listening sometimes. As for Morris what has he done? he seems ok no more than that and if what you say is true you don't always have to stamp your authority to be successful.
  9. Addio you seem a decent chap but you are totally wrong about Middleditch you seem to have a grievance against him? If you get totally crucified on TWITTER or whatever would you not react ? ok he might of been wrong but some of the abuse was uncalled for (will Rosco get the same). He could of done thing,s different but Middleditch i know from people i respect have told me he is a decent chap i met met him once in the 80s and he was a nice bloke since he has gone into management my respect has never dwindled.Talks a good fight is a nonsense statement, total rubbish he is not that sort of bloke i don't know him but do you know him personally.?
  10. So frustrating Starman F..k the health and safety local residents having to much clout noise curfews ( ect) Why can't our riders practice at least three times in a week it really bugs me, Scunny do it young riders get a go the curfew laws over here are a joke unless that changes i don't believe thing,s will ever change.
  11. I won't judge Rossiter on beating Neil, i will judge him on what he does longterm can he leave a legacy when he has gone.
  12. Is that your goal? to beat them or other minor nations? have you no real long term vision? If we keep on plodding on doing what we doing we will never PROGRESS.
  13. You are happy to beat those two are you not? are you willing to rebuild have a different structure a different way of thinking of the last 5 years.?
  14. Right and be also rans for ever! you are deluded those nations you have named have not always been powerhouses have they? it takes hard work why can't we be again again it won't happen overnight but at least try though could i care less if we beat the USA and Latvia no.
  15. I was there i liked all of the Americans so i never took alot of notice but it was a disgraceful act you would not believe that a PC or Lee would let anybody through.
  16. Spot on Starman, i predict it is a minimum of a 5 or a 10 year plan, even then i am not confident. We are light years behind is fifth good anough i would rather have a bit of doom and gloom but improve over a period of time once Rossiters honeymoon period is over will he make that much difference motivation skills take you only so far. So right Colin, since say 1970/ 83 riders England have had at our disposal E Boocock. N.Boocock P. Collins N.Collins Phil Collins, Louis, Ray Wilson, Reg Wilson, Simmons,Ashby,Wyer, Haley, Pratt, Younghusband, Kilby, Lee,Jessup,Davey, Carter,Cartwright, Pusey, Wilkinson,Davis, got to be a few i have missed as well.
  17. Yes WK at the time we took those quality riders for granted, over a period we had PC, Lee,Simmons,Betts, Wilson, both Boocock,s Ashby ,Louis, Kennett, Mort, and even riders later on like Wyer Davis, Cartwright (ex) were very good riders also.
  18. Dont agree at all, blending the youngsters in amongst Tai learning listening has to be the way to go.Ok would you do the same old same old,? beat say the USA is your BRIEF to Rosco go and be fifth. Also the PL is not an easy place to ride ask Doyle, Bech, Cook Cook is a fine example this lad is ambitious but to get a place abroad is not easy.Is Doyle not ambitious?he still rides PL he has improved no end have a longterm vision i recon be prepared to have a bit of short term hurt to improve overall in the future.
  19. The likes of Kennett,Bridger, King,Barker(ect) are they world class in your opinion?.When you compare the likes of MJJ, Bech, both Pawlicki brothers Dudek just a few examples we are light years behind. The worrying thing is i would not pick any of the old guard just to get short term results Tai and Cook would be my only certain starters, for me it will be interesting the way Rossiter goes about thing,s.
  20. RIght we had plenty to choose from is that right?
  21. A team consisting of say? Tai, Cook,Harris,KIng i wouldn't exspect to much from that side.Again results for me are not that important anyway, ok we come fifth so what it is how we try to bridge the gap and bring riders through. Most people would say Rossiters strength is his motivation skills that i am afraid will only take him so far.Forget about winning we need to find a way of bringing riders through who can compete on the world stage easier said than done.
  22. Are you that dumb to think that is a certainty? Should it be a certainty? do you believe you have to just turn up and beat these teams. It is not a Devine right of ours to presume we will do so.
  23. How many haven't you seen Sam ? you really know your stuff odviously Duggan like me the great Craven and maybe Ove Fundin.? Fundin, Knutsson and Craven are the few world class stars i did not see ever ride since 1965 saying that there were a few i didn't ever see live who were class riders like Harrefeld, Nordin and Pander and the class Russian Plechonov.
  24. And as i know you were a big supporter of the one off final, when it went do you think that had an affect?.I will concede that the GP series is decent i enjoy it but has it improved thing,s no it has buggered our league set up no doubt about it.The PL have nearly got thing,s right a good product i enjoy it and thing,s at that level should be fine in the future. The EL has alot to do in my book, overall the racing is not great the same old tracks no variation also this year with the NL riders it is a massive call.I hope it works out though with a few young Brits getting a chance and improving but is the EL a 17 quid night out now.?
  25. Went to the Daily mirror individual meeting, the surface was sand based riders that day had big problems.
