  1. I agree - I was just bringing up the debate because so many think gradings would be better IMO they would be much worse in terms of the aim for equalization
  2. There are often call for gradings rather than averages to be used. It would be interesting for someone to put together 7 new teams on that basis to see how it could work in practice The top 3 would be A, the next section B, the next 2 sections C and the bottom 2 D.....
  3. I like the principle but the practicalities as others have pointed out are something different in terms of finding the additional star riders at an affordable cost I would say that it is fine to retain the same 7 but only so long as it is the same 7 that started the season So often teams are changed to take advantage of the cut off date average changes meaning teams are actually effectively over the limit which skews the figures
  4. How could his average have been a points liability when he came in on a 2!! The fact it went immediately to nearly 5 just meant down to him Sheffield could effectively build the rest of the team to be 3 points over the limit Without him on a 2 the team overall wouldve been weaker and other riders brought in wouldn't have been accommodated. His 'reward' for those others still not being able to out strip his performances in the 1-5 despite them being at reserve was to be dropped instead of them Yes a victim of the points limit system but there were other choices and IMO he should remember that should Sheffield make him an offer
  5. Certainly some talent there and plenty of room for improvement in his average if he is committed and has suitably maintained equipment to back it up for a whole season
  6. Would be a great addition to the league. He or riders like him joining the ranks could make a huge difference to any hoped for upturn in the perception and fortunes of British league speedway
  7. Has to be the first name on the Witches teamsheet IMO - Jake has been a pleasure to watch as a fan and equally pleasing as part of the team in the pits by all accounts
  8. He has that opportunity elsewhere if it's right for him at a club that may nurture him and not discard him mid season The average requirements may not be the same DC2 but your point is certainly a possibility
  9. Why would Kemp even cobsider Sheffield given how he was treated this season???
  10. I had to read that twice... Originally I thought you had put that you went floppy in a Johnny
  11. It's incredible how so many riders keep going with some horrendous injuries. Many 'ordinary' people wouldn't even get out of bed feeling the way these riders must do let alone ride a speedway bike
  12. Probably not but you have to start the winter break conversation somewhere
  13. We all hope the money is decent although perhaps if it isnt quite what everyone would hope for at least having a highlights package on free to ait increases the chances of some proper league sponsorship to top it up
  14. It only says about 18 meetings from the domestic Premiership league in the SGB website release I read. That's not to say it wont be different when it comes to it
  15. I'm glad he didn't- he will fit much better as a Witch on the lower figure
  16. He could continue in a similar way to Kildeman who also looked little more than a solid 2nd tier rider only a couple of seasons before he broke into the world scene
  17. I agree with both to an extent No doubt he is the most improved rider in 2019 and has been sensational. Has shown he has the talent in the past but has added consistency Whether that upward curve can be maintained or indeed if he can even maintain his new average is the issue. It does make him a greater risk for whichever team he signs for
  18. I fully agree with this. Yes there has been the usual mud slinging from various quarters but this is the cold reality once the 'banter' stops For ANY club to run at ANY level requires a huge amount of goodwill and sponsorship right from ground level fans to the big corporate main sponsors There is no club in the land that could've withstood the situation Poole found themselves in. It certainly isnt about poor promotion. Whatever faults Matt Ford has can be debated but a lack of promotion and savvy isnt one of them I dont buy the 'surely he can swallow one season' position - let it go on and the next season isnt the problem it is the whole existence of a club at risk. For that if the switch stabiliises then a switch is right That is pretty much the situation Ipswich found themselves in and moving to the Championship was exactly the correct choice at that time The fact that despite better than average attendances and an enviable sponsorship position still meant that a move back to the top level wasnt a no brainer says it all about just what it takes to run at the highest level Even with what has to be considered a very successful year at Foxhall I dont imagine Chris is sitting at home in a bath of £50 notes!
  19. Apologies Steve - didn't realise it was a tenner today
  20. How do you work out that you will get 30 heats? You will get the 15 for that match meaning £28 (assuming no season on season increase) for 17 heats - 2 of which (at least) will have been pointless
  21. £10 off after 2 shambolic heats is a kick in the teeth Those 2 heats have cost the poor sods that turned up £8!!
  22. You are a fool I have no need to dream it - I've seen it each week with my own eyes and have no reason to lie or exaggerate
