  1. For me as we approach the 30th anniversary of his death I nominate Billy Sanders. As I grew up I had the Witches riders as my heroes and idols and none bigger than Billy. A true no nonsense character who to me was a star on and off the track. The ability to be smooth and fast out front and to be tough and uncomprimising from the back in equal measure. The type of rider the opposition fans would perhaps want to boo but underneath would have a respect and admiration for - a headline maker and shaper. I still vividly remember hanging over the fence at Smallmead on that Tuesday night, just a few months before that fateful day of his death, when the Witches took the title with Billy leading the way and knowing only Speedway would do for me as MY sport. I was 13 when Billy died and I grew up a lot that week as 2 days after my Grandad also died.It was the week in many ways I learnt what life - and death - is all about. So again for me bring back Billy. Richard
  2. the status of the practice was my point - and I dont see how it would be a problem.Calling it a private practice was meant to distinguish it from an organised team practice. It was a private arrangement by individuals at at open to the public facility which is what you confirmed. Had it have been a team organised event I would see the potential problem it could cause. That said what I think doesnt really matter. If it is a problem to UKVI then thats whats important. The sport cant afford to continue to get this wrong.
  3. your pm convinced me 99% and the latest news made it 100%.Good luck to Lewis in 2015.
  4. Im just trying to work out the 2 still not sorted!
  5. Just about the right timescale IMO. Good to see that the procedures were sound and correctly followed after all. Lets hope we dont see another thread like this again!
  6. Cant see how a private practice can be wrong. Presumably currently on a holiday visa as if the full work visa is in place there is no problem anyway. Look at it this way - if a pro surfer comes to the UK on a holiday visa would he be prohibited from catching a few waves down at Newquay just because thats what he does for a living back home? Surely it would just be classed as recreational which is what a holiday is all about.
  7. I suppose this thread was always going to end up this way given that the visa rules have been so 'wooly'.
  8. didnt ever expect to see a post containing a mention of both someones hole AND Gary Glitter unless a thread was started on ryhming slang! winkapologies in advance!!
  9. there has been no confirmation that they have. Other clubs have made a big thing of the announcement as soon as it happened. Could be 2+2=5
  10. at first that would seem logical but then I believe Campton did get the required placing in a state championship in 2013 and doesnt qualify.Perhaps the US criteria have been adjusted due to the set up there not being in line with the OZ system that it has previously been lumped together with.
  11. well I hope its right!Would be a spectacular own goal to make that statement only for it to go pear shaped.
  12. Well apparently Mike Bacon ( Ipswich journalist) has tweeted this morning "just spoken to CL and no problem with visa for Gino or Rohan - they both meet the criteria" (paraphrased) So either the criteria have been amended or CL has got it spectacularly wrong.
  13. tend to agree but as has been pointed out this could have all blown up mid season but UKVI did infact 'cut sone slack' to avoid chaos so its not impossible part of the workshop process was to clarify some details. All guesswork right now! Whatever the decisions the rules need to be followed and we all need to accept it however it affects our own team.
  14. There have been posts on various threads hinting at revised criteria having been agreed but as yet no details or confirmation that its true and if so what the changes are.
  15. especially as you no longer are limited to a NL guest for the No7.Not that I think that Adam would remain at reserve - IMO he would break into the top 5 IF he gets a chance this year. If he wasnt at Lakeside I believe he wouldve had his pick of half a dozen offers this year.
  16. be positive - he couldve called you odd - that could really offend you! wink
  17. seems most likely if true. An adjustment away from the currently stated previous season would also draw in Smith and Davies for acceptance.
  18. we dont even know whether the club actually has a sponsor certificate yet.If not then applications cant even be considered evrn if the criteria are met.
  19. I dont think you are right there - again unless the regs have been revised.
  20. does the rule state who has the say in the arrangement? Is it the EL club? Is that specifically in the reg? The 'arrangement' could be rider choice if not.
  21. I think they call that sods law! Do make sure to let us all know when you cant make it this year - then we can be sure when its one not to miss!!
  22. or that PBoro have made the 'arrangement' in their favour.
