I agree with you on this one.To be real contenders an overall improvement of around 5 points will be needed. This is a perfectly reasonable expectation for our team although by no means a foregone conclusion. By the end of the year I believe we will have a 'real' No1......its just a case of who it will be!!!
Good to see the team officially ratified. Many are saying that on paper we are one of the strongest teams which of course is wrong....on paper we are one of the weakest given that we have failed to use 1.35 of the points limit. Only Redcar have used less I believe.
I was responding to Steve Irvings post about British riders being out of work and his inference that this is the reason for the delay. I personally dont think this has anything to do with the current delay. The fact that teams have been ratified and the unequivocal BSPA statement backs this up.This of course seems to point to Heeps being the issue.Given Tungates Aussie Championship performance it would be unthinkable for him not to obtain an endorsement where others already have.
If this is the reason then any team with a rider requiring a work permit should not have been ratified.Perhaps there is still time for all the averages to be removed again!?!
Didnt mean to seem like I was having a go.I sensed your meaning.Just using your quote as a base for my own comment.
If there is basis to the rumour my biggest surprise would be that it only involves 5 riders! If Tungate is one of the four and doesnt qualify then there are in the region of ten riders that shouldnt qualify including some that have already been declared/ratified.
Does this mean there could be a problem with Tungate's visa or is it around British partiality for Heeps?? If either is the case then a number of teams will surely also be similarly affected. If so chaos will ensue!!
All of the top 5 can improve by half a point (at least) Rohan by up to 2 points depending on how much time he spends at reserve and Heeps by at least a point and a half.
Barring injuries there is potential for real powerhouse team.
Presumably if its classed as international duty then a facility is granted. If so with the strength in depth that should be no problem for the odd meeting.
Fair play if its a stipulation from the NZ govt.I wasnt aware of that.I suppose it is rather naive to expect the sporting side of matters to be more important than money and politics in this day and age.
If the organisers need Bunyan to boost ticket sales then Id be very worried. If 'a name' is needed then ask Ivan to come out to play for the day. That would sell more tickets and wouldnt devalue the competition any more.
Totally agree. There have been some stupid decisions made by those running Speedway over the years but this ranks right up there! May as well just have three riders in 5 heats!
On a slight tangent. How about the 'tag tunes' for each of this years team after heat wins etc. What should be used? For Matt I suggest "Wild Thing" Any other suggestions?
