Which rider is to improve the most in 2018
Gavan replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I hear what you are saying but at some point all riders go on the downgrade. He is 31 this year , doesnt mean he cant get back to his best but i think those days are gone. He will average around 8 and do well to make top 10 in the gp's World class rider....yes As good as he was..........not in my opinion -
Which rider is to improve the most in 2018
Gavan replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I would imagine the 3 biggest improvers will be KK, Bewley and Tungate, followed closely by Woryna if he brings his continental form over here. At my club im expecting Cameron Heeps to add at least a point to his average so hopefully he will do the same for Wolves -
At Belle Vue it should be Fricke then Holder then Batchelor then Tungate. Morris and Kurtz not good enough and it should be horses for courses

Poole are over whelming favourites just like last season when it all went totally wrong. Last season we was told: KK is a far better option then Holder Kurtz and Holder jnr were the new turbo twins Hans would be a solid heat leader Kyle Newman is Mr Poole and will not let anyone down and up his scoring Nicolai Klindt is a number one at reserve and will score bucket loads James Shanes is one of the best young Brits Out of all of that only Kurtz, Hans and Shanes came out with any credit. So all this talk of what Poole will do this season can go so wrong again. Kurtz will be fine Holder and Sundstrom have doubts about them no question , and is Linus a better option then Hans? The 2 poles could be anything but thats exactly it...anything. Continental form doesnt always translate. Its all well and good being happy with your team and i can understand the excitement from Poole fans.....but some of the comments on here about how easy it will be and how much better they are than everyone else is just daft............pride comes before a fall

Mark Loram finished above Leigh Adams in 5 consecutive gp seasons 1996-2000 Leigh Adams finished above Mark in the next 4 seasons 2001- 2004 Therefore if you include the fact Mark won a world crown its fair to say by your Crump v Adams logic that Mark was a better rider than Leigh?
-
And I love the Poole fans who say people are lined up if they fail.......like Lahti Kennett and Stark’s you mean!

Why does anyone care how Kurtz, Fricke or Morris do abroad? It’s how they do over here that matters and last season Morris was better than Kurtz and Kurtz better than Fricke i couldn’t give 2 monkeys who is better in Poland it’s how they perform over her that matters, which is why there is still a doubt over Woryna and MS. Doesn’t matter who he beats abroad it’s who he can beat over here

This was my post on Monday i dont honestly believe you can accuse me of having a go at anything to do with Poole, i believe the track was good but isnt anymore. I was just pointing out i hadnt had a ban and the reasons why. Im not worried who knows my situation and i am with someone else now sort of anyway (lives nearer Rye House though lol). But yes i agree we should discuss speedway

Who Finishes Where 2018
Gavan replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Zmarzlik and Tai for me Emil could be good each way value at 16/1 I think the prices for Lindgren, Laguta and Holder are to short and no value at all -
If your insinuating ive had a ban i most certainly havent. Im actually seperating from my wife and on 25th January moved into new accomadation which at the moment doesnt have internet connection set up. Been a stressful time as i have 2 children and being apart from them even for the odd night is very strange and not easy to get used to. So pretty much ive not had much time or desire or the means to actually get on the forum much. Some Poole fans have mocked me in the past for the fact i only go Ipswich 4 or 5 times a season as i put my family first, well im sure they will be happy to know ive got more chance this season for obvious reasons.

To be fair 5-6 years ago Poole was up there probably in the top 5 tracks in the UK, but in the last few years is been nothing short of a joke and at times dangerous. If the work that has been done gets it back to the old standard then that can only be a good thing

Championship Predictions 2018
Gavan replied to RedcarRacer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It looks like any 4 from 5 for me, Ipswich, Glasgow, Sheffield, Lakeside, Scunthorpe, with possibly only Workington able to get close to that 5. -
i see you add some meaningful thoughts into the discussion. when you have something decent to say perhaps we can debate
-
Im agreeing with you. Poole have the better team than both Rye House and Wolves. In my opinion only Belle Vue come close to Pooles side. However over 2 legs i think Poole would struggle more against Rye or Wolves then Belle Vue. I think Pooles riders will go better at Belle Vue than the other 2 tracks thats all im saying
-
Harris beat Kurtz 5 times out of 7 races last season so yes maybe will be the better of the 2 but no foregone conclusion that he will beat Harris on either track Barker beat Kurtz everytime as well so i cant see why Ben wouldnt do better in match races v Woryna And in match ups i would expect Robson to easily outscore MS Although i would expect Woryna, Kurtz and MS to have higher final averages than those you have matched them up against would expect in head to heads it would be much closer. I would say Rye and Wolves , although with weaker teams than Poole, will be harder sides for Poole to beat over 2 legs than say Belle Vue

OK lets look at last year v this year and what was said at the START of last season and rider for rider theres nothing in it. KK V KURTZ.......................at the start of last season you would have said KK would average more than Kurtz this season J HOLDER V WORYNA................at the start of last season you would have had Holder over Woryna every time HANS V JOSH.................... again Hans NEWMAN V HOLDER................no brainer Holder KURTZ V SUNDSTROM.................Kurtz all day long KLINDT V MS..................probably Klindt Now obviously we know that the Poole 1-7 last season underperformed either poor management or poor track the reasons i guess. BUT at the start of last season you and others were crowing how amazing the Poole side looked and it did and it blew up spectacularly...........................it could happen again as there are just as much doubts this season over 4-5 of the riders
-
Poole choked big time last year....but if it goes wrong this year it will be even bigger
-
Poole have stuck to the rules regarding the Poles but its the rules that are wrong not Poole signing them. Poole look to have the strongest 1-7 but also they are the side with the most question marks against them. Will Kurtz take the next step like Nick Morris did. Will Holder increase his average Will Sundstrom hit form after being away for so long Will the Poles settle and do ok?

Mark Loram v Chris Louis 1997 British Final was as good if not better in my opinion
-
At Ipswich we have a long line of Aussies from my time of starting to go in the early 80's starting with Billy Sanders. We had a few characters none more so then Craig Hyde and Steve Widt. I remember Ipswich riding at Lakeside and Craig Hyde did a full circuit of the M25 before finding his way back! Shane Parker coming over and scoring 19 points in an away match at Rye House in his first season was pretty special. Then you had the Langdon brothers at Poole who werent exactly quiet either
-
Woryna i would expect to do a full season but the other one could be gone i would imagine. Poole never go a full season without changes hence why they often successful. Its to blinkered to expect the current 1-7 to be the end 1-7. This time last year Poole were huge favourites and nobody could have predicted that the best number one in the league (KK), Mr Loyalty (Newman) and a high scoring reserve (Klindt) would be binned off in favour of Kennett , Starke and Lahti.....if you had suggested that on here you would have been laughed at........so its naive to think that no changes can or will be made
-
Pooled number one at the end of the season will be Kurtz by over a point I reckon
-
You may be often strange in what you post and I guess we will never see eye to eye on here but in no way would I wish ill health on anyone (been there myself) so welcome back to the forum Starman and here's to hopefully many more disagreements! Keep well
-
Surely you have to win something to be in a shield? It would be Swindon v Belle Vue surely, with Wolves the next best
-
Thought this was all done and dusted!!
