  1. The track had a few ruts, no more and no less than places like Cardiff, yet we all bang on how Cardiff is the 'jewel in the gp crown' when in reality the track isnt good. This track wasnt good yet some were prepared to give it a go Harris, Zagar, MJJ for example. I fully understand Holder being apprehensive as he had a bad crash last year, but then again he cant expect every track he rides to be as smoth as a billiard table. Pedersen had a knee brace on so he may have found it hard but thats just tough luck. Sorry but yes the track wasnt great but the prima donnas who were struggling (Hancock , Pedersen and Holder ) were moaning and the organisers bowed down to it. The fact is the track wasnt good and i agree with gp's not being on temporary tracks. The start gate was only an issue because at this level you would expect a back up plan. However the green light starts did stop the usual suspects rolling so again perhaps they didnt like that. People who were new to speedway probably enjoyed the fact the track was difficult, to then find out the riders didnt want to ride. Sorry but the riders who didnt want to ride have a lot to answer for.
  2. I disagree. If the track was different all the home riders will have their bike set up as the track would normally be. If it was different then they may have the set up all wrong, where as someone like Covatti would not really have known how to do his bike and it worked for him. The track changing each week has to be an inconvenience for any home team
  3. the track wasn't great but that isn't the issue. We know these tracks cut up but the riders behaved like pansies. Get out there and wind the throttle on. Granted the green light situation was a leveller off the starts and gave the riders more cause to moan. Seems like the 'old guard' spat their dummy's out and the weak race directors listened. What's going to happen if Cardiff cuts up like it often does? Dangerous precedent been set tonight I feel. Now if we get rutty or let's say wet tracks the riders will be wanting it called off. Don't blame the track blame the riders and the officials
  4. Contender for the squad maybe. Dont get people asking for Newman He beats most reserves in the elite league, occasionally beats the od second string and is miles away from being a pemier league number 1. Good little rider yes, but nowhere near good enough. If you think Newman could be there then Blackbird, Garrity, Auty, have to be mentioned. And all of those are below the likes of Stead, Cook, King , Barker, and Kennett I get blooding the youngsters is the right way but the likes of Lambert and Howarth are well clear of Newman
  5. Cant see anyone getting near Edinburghs best rider Masters. His form is sensational this season
  6. Wow really How can you leave out a 23 year old ex world champ and number 4 in the world? He is the future lol Riders like Stead, Cook , King and Kennett are the riders who have been there not done it. If anyone seriously thinks leaving out Woffinden is a good idea i think they need their heads tested. There is no way Kyle Newman as good a rider as he is should be in a World Cup squad. Lawson Lambert and Howarth are all ahead of Newman. If you think Newman should be in then what about Garrity, Blackbird , Auty, Steve Worrall? All as good if not better than Newman And i wouldnt have any of them near a Team GB squad personally
  7. After the first month of the season is over with what are peoples thoughts on who should be in the World Cup Squad? Do we run with the tried and tested or throw youngsters in? This would be my squad of 7 WOFFINDEN HARRIS NICHOLLS LAMBERT LAWSON HOWARTH KING If Scott cant be persuaded to ride then i would call up Stead. Just please no Kennett!!
  8. i don't think King will qualify for a gp series either but your argument is flawed. He wasn't a million miles away on the gp challenge final at Poole and as pointed out to you King was a better rider than Smolinski was at the time he qualified so there is no reason to dismiss him out of hand
  9. Dont get the issue. Riders like King, Cook and Stead are never going to be World Champion or make the gp's so what is wrong with riding to earn money? King and Stead both tried abroad and failed and Cook at last is having a go. These riders are draw cards. I now due to work and family go to Foxhall about 8 times a year. I will certainly be going when Cook is there and Stead as well
  10. Why does everyone take discussions as personal! Cook is out of form in the elite league Im asking are Edinburgh fans worried about this. Surely , rather than saying things like 'go to the Belle Vue thread' try having a discussion and give reasons why you think he will be ok. Why get so defensive? The fact Cook is a prat is irelevent we are talking about his riding
  11. Nothing would please me more to see the old Holder back, but i think he isnt there anymore. Granted he had a really bad crash at Coventry that nearly ended his career, but you still need to have the hunger to go back to the same track and perform. Once you become cautious on any track it will lead to bigger issues. I seem to remember Shawn Moran saying when he lost his nerve he even let the riders leave the tapes quicker so he didnt get to the bend with them. Im not saying Chris has lost his nerve but his form is patchy at best. Maybe Poole could lose Holder and Watt and get in Ward and someone else. I dont know how that would fit points wise. I cant stand North as a person but his form this season is very good and he is more than capable of holding down the third heat leader slot.
  12. How am i spouting nonsense!!!!!! Im asking if your worried his elite league poor form is a worry if he brings it to the premier. Normal question but yet again the high and mighty cant debate.
  13. Think everyone knows who Schlein was guesting for. Nobody said it wasnt legal but it just becomes farcical. Poole had issues but none as bad as Coventry. Coventry had riders fall off in scoring positions Coventry had a number 1 who had awful machinery problems Coventry replaced a premier league heat leader with a premier league second string. Poole replaced a premier league heat leader with an elite league heat leader who could ride as an elite league second string. All that said Poole are strong and will be thereabouts at the end Holder has to be a worry looks a shadow of his former self. Can see Holder leaving when Darcy is fit as he may well need to concentrate on staying in the top 8 No i havent omited that. Fact is Poole with Watt as heat leader and North at 2 would be weaker than North at 3 and Schlien at 2. Dakota North is riding wel this season wherever he goes and certainly is as good if not better than Watt at Brandon. This means Poole were quite a bit stronger than if they had tracked their usual 1-7 What i suggest you do is read my posts better as in every single post i said what Poole did was perfctly legal. Not once have i said Poole cheated or did anything wrong. So before you jump over my posts and accuse of all the anti poole crap , i suggest you dont just selectively read what you want to see
  14. Interesting that an elite league heat leader can replace a premier league rider and then ride as a second string. Shows how ridiculous the sport has become. I know it's legal but it's just daft and handed Poole the win
  15. once out of the last 3 times he behaved even then had 2 rollers as per usual. time before he scored 11 and hated being on the end of a team riding 5-1 and as per normal sulked and rode back to the pits rather than shake hands, and then the time before he didnt even complete 2 rides. Lets be honest good rider as he is and yes i would love him at number one for us, the bloke is a bit of an idiot
  16. Im sorry im still unsure as to why i need to post this on the Belle Vue thread? Craig Cook is struggling in the elite league i get that. However my team are in the Premier League. Im asking if Monarchs fans are worried his poor form could spill into the Premier thus affecting their team. Surely this is relevent to the Edinburgh thread? I couldnt give 2 hoots about Cook in the Elite but hope he struggles against us! He does usually throw his toys out at Foxhall!
  17. peterborough is a better race track than Foxhall. But whatever track it is you need 2 evenly matched teams. It's no fun watching at Peterborough if there riders gate and disappear. You get bad meetings anywhere
  18. thank you for answering my post sensibly and actually having a discussion without the need to get abusive and touchy. Just a shame some Edinburgh fans seem incapable of this
  19. no I won't post under the Belle Vue thread as Belle Vue are of no importance to my team Ipswich. I'm discussing that Cook is in poor form which could carry over to the premier league. Now Edinburgh are a rival of my club so it's quite relevant that I'm debating it on the Edinburgh thread. Quite rightly if he bangs in maximums for you boys then you don't care but what if he scored only 8 or 9 in the next few meetings would it not be a concern? Try to stop being so precious in what you post about wonder boy and try having a debate
  20. second elite league meeting tonight and at least he managed to beat Ashley Morris. Poor performance from Stead to. Seems the premier league top 2 aren't equipped for being elite league riders. Im a premier league fan but the gulf between the leagues is vast
  21. I've said it loads of times I would love Cook at Ipswich. Even if he rode for us he would still be a bit of a prat with his comments and ego but you would want him in your team. All I'm saying is he needs to grow up and mature a bit and in my opinion he isnt going to get any higher in the sport
  22. Dear me its quite pathetic really. Are you not allowed to make an observation on riders without fans jumping on you. Cook is a top premier league rider. Will he ever be a gp rider? No WIll he be a top elite league rider ? No Its not jealousy i would love Cook as my number one at Ipswich. I point out coming 2nd in the British Final, although a good achievement is not comparable to British Finals 20 years ago yet im told thats laughable. Is it? Its about time he went to Poland and well done at last but its probably 2 years to late
  23. 1994 British Final line up. Smith , Screen , Schoey, Havelock, Barker, Doncaster, Loram, Dugard , Cross ,Louis, Tatum, Knight, Howe, Mullett, Hurry , Mckinna Apart from maybe Mckinna and Howe is Cook a better rider than any of the above? 10 World Finalists 2 World Champions 3 more who stood on the rostrum. No mate just making an observation and have said Cook is great for Edinburgh
  24. I notice Cook threw a paddy for Belle Vue at Wolves and sulked again. Shocking attitude. Was even beaten by Bates as well. As ive said before he has reached his potential. Top premier league rider and average elite league one. British Number 2 at a time when the uk has only 3 top riders in Tai Nicholls and Harris he would more than likely never even made a British Final 20 years ago. Still he is a class act for you boys so you cant complain, however i think Masters may get a better average this year
  25. Fancy this will be closer than a lot of our Foxhall meetings v the rebels. Worrall , Josh and Kurtz are more than a match for our top 3. We need Rohan to find his form in this one. Lanham and Wright could be as good as Cam and Ritchie if he isnt fully fit yet. However i feel we are stronger at reserve I said at the start of the season a lot would depend on Cam and Gino. At the moment Cam is looking like he could move up to heat leader so Gino and Rohan are the 2 worries plus Ritchie not being fit. Covatti is up and down and Stefan to me is struggling. I think we can nick this by 4
