I agree it's not rocket science Phil and the same applies to GP's starting on time! The last one was nearly 15 minutes before the first race got underway! Let's see if they can do better on Saturday!

Looking forward to this one. Details taken from the Coventry website below:- http://www.coventrybees.co/news.php?extend.2257

				Rye House V Ipswich 1/4/13 2pm
WembleyLion replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Firstly and most importantly I hope Jason, Jari and Simon make speedy recoveries. As others have said it was a disgrace that it took so long to run and like many I left after the heat 12 accident fearing another delay of an hour or more. Given the difficulty many riders were having I think it should have been abandoned at that point anyway. I suspect most die-hards like me will be back for more but I do not believe many new fans will have been won over today! -

Why Do Speedway Meetings Take So Long To Run
WembleyLion replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think it would also help if meetings started at their advertised start time. Some tracks are not too bad but there are a few that have no urgency whatsoever to run a meeting promptly and you only need someone like Tony Steele in charge to be sure of a long night! -

You are correct as after Coventry beat Hull 42 -36 to win the league they beat Leicester 50 - 28 in the Midland Cup Final second leg! -

				Speedway Attendances At Brandon
WembleyLion replied to brandonmole's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Brings back memories of Coventry v Hull on 13 October 1979 and an attendance of 20,000 plus. Some tracks don't get that in a season now! -
I first started going to Speedway at Wembley in 1970 when Freddie was team manager of the Lions! It was also great to see him attending Speedway so regularly over the years! R.I.P Freddie

I remember it well. Not too many reserves have scored a 15 point maximum away from home!

I am thinking of taking these meetings in. Have you or any other forum members been in previous years? Any thoughts or advice would be most appreciated.

				What Gp To See
WembleyLion replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Interesting map as it is the only one I've seen with a road crossing the railway line between the E18 (to the North) and Solna Train Station (to the South). I guess this must be a new road that hasn't found it's way onto many maps as yet but it may influence which Hotel I stay in! -

				Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
WembleyLion replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That would be some unsatisfactory start TR! Perhaps it's as well with all the uncertainty over where the start is, it's a good job we know where the finish is! -

				Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
WembleyLion replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can't understand how so many people seem have access to the pits. Fair enough I accept that many are at the event by invitation from a rider or sponsor etc; but these days it seems too easy to hang around in the pits. I know of someone at Cardiff who decided to move from his seat to spend part of the meeting in the pits and managed to do it quite easily and without being challenged by anyone! -

				Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision

My unbiased view was that it should have been a no brainer to exclude Holder. I have previously thought Ackroyd is a poor referee and he proved it again tonight.
