  1. I agree - very odd decision.... CHANGE OF PLAN Thursday April 09, 2015 PETERBOROUGH have revised their guest plans for their Premier League Cup clashes against Plymouth in the coming days. Lasse Bjerre will now line up at number one for the Readypower Panthers in both their Friday (April 10) trip to the St Boniface Arena (7.15pm) and the Sunday (April 12) return clash at the East of England Showground (3pm). The club had initially expected to use Great Britain international Danny King in the home fixture, but now plan to offer him guest outings in the near future. http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/news.php?extend.2432

  3. Fans are told not to heap too much pressure on teen star Lambert Robert Lambert in action against Ipswich at Alwalton. Photo: David Lowndes Panthers fans have been urged not to heap pressure on hot property Robert Lambert. The sought-after teenager has launched his debut Premier League campaign in stunning style with four successive double-figure scores. It is a fine return from a rider who only celebrated his 17th birthday on Easter Sunday. The following day he played a starring role in the two triumphs which ignited the city club’s season. Lambert teamed up with Michael Palm Toft for a nerveless 5-1 in a final-heat decider to secure a 47-43 success at Rye House and he then top-scored with 13 points as Ipswich were blown away 56-37 at the East of England Showground. But team boss Carl Johnson stressed: “We were confident Robert would do well, but I must admit I’m pleasantly surprised by how quickly he has settled into the Premier League. “He is well suited to the Showground after growing up on the big, fast tracks in Germany, but he has a lot of new away tracks to learn and I was really impressed with what he produced at Rye House. “It is clear he is a class act but we should not expect too much, too soon. We must not build him up too much when he is going well and we can’t get on his back if things don’t go quite as well Johnson has also been hugely encouraged by the recent displays of Palm Toft. The Danish ace, drafted in on a short-term deal following the opening day of the season smash that left Adam Roynon nursing broken ribs and a punctured lung, has been hugely impressively of late. Palm Toft has been paid for 34 points in the past three meetings – form which could prompt bosses to attempt to hang onto him for longer. Johnson added: “Michael was fantastic over Easter and it is great to see him riding like that. His form could give us a headache but I would much rather have a problem due to a rider going well than one struggling. “We’ve not spoken to Michael about extending his stay at this stage.” Palm Toft could be a trump card tomorrow night when Panthers make the long trek to Plymouth for the first of two Southern Group meetings in three days against the Devils. The 24 year-old had a short spell with the Devon club in 2013 and is known to like the small St Boniface Arena track where the action gets underway at 7.15pm. Panthers have also drafted in the rider who finished last season as their number one to guest tomorrow night. Lasse Bjerre, now of Redcar, steps in for injury victim Olly Allen. GB rider Danny King is booked for the return clash at the Showground on Sunday (3pm) after starring against Panthers for Ipswich over Easter. Plymouth are spearheaded by American ace Ryan Fisher who rode for Panthers in 2013 and for the opening half of last season until being sidelined by a shoulder injury. http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/fans-are-told-not-to-heap-too-much-pressure-on-teen-star-lambert-1-6679099
  4. slid under the waves quicker than Leicester and Eastbourne Elite league Speedway...!
  5. nice to see average manipulation by Bjerre in heat 15... "Self preservation society!!!"
  6. KING OF THE SHOWGROUND! Great Britain international Danny King is on his way back to the East of England Showground. The top Premier League star has agreed to guest for Peterborough in their Premier League Cup clash at home to Plymouth on Sunday (April 12, 3pm). King, who spent two seasons as a Readypower Panthers rider earlier in his career, excelled in an Easter Monday visit to Alwalton for regular club Ipswich. He notched 16 points for the Witches as they were beaten 56-37 after also recording a four-ride maximum in the reverse fixture at Foxhall on Good Friday which ended in a 53-39 Ipswich win. Peterborough bosses have hired another familiar face for the Friday night (April 10) visit to the St Boniface Arena. Lasse Bjerre, who finished last season as the club's number one, will step in for the trip to Devon. "We are delighted with both guest bookings," said Panthers team boss Carl Johnson. "We're currently looking to use the best guests available to cover at number one while Olly Allen is out injured. "It doesn't get much better in the Premier League than having Richard Lawson twice on Easter Monday, Lasse on Friday and Danny on Sunday." Panthers have clawed their way back into Southern Group contention after their Easter Monday derby double
  7. they gotta put something on the banks if it is to be percieved as one of the top race arena's in the UK according to Uncle Lens notes in the programme...
  8. lost the will after the 4 running of heat 2... finally awarded 0-3!! dunno why we had to wait so long for the match to commence - there was hardly any additional track prep - everyone just got cold and bored.... frustrating especially when I had a couple of Newbies with me!
  9. in all fairness there was a threat of rain in the sky!! Over Birmingham!!
  10. I agree he'll have a while yet until Roynon is back I suspect - keep going with Guest at number 1 I'd guess...
  11. how about Robert Banford? or Luke Chessel or even Kyle Hughes.... could all do a job I'd have thought depending upon averages!
  12. I'd imagine that most promotions would like a close result - making it more exciting for the general public (despite the fact that they home team may lose on occassions) - brings in more fans rather than massive home wins week after week due to home track prep advantage..
  13. I agree cannot afford to get rid of Palm Toft..... The blokes great!! Greenwood does look vunerable at reserve I agree.... Now Roynon at reserve could be a trump card!!
  14. crikey what was wrong with Bowen 747 - looked woeful.... not the rider of a couple of seasons back... Great effort by the Panthers - they'll have a great 1-5 when Allen comes back - Cannot afford to get rid of Palm Toft when Roynon comes back either - that would seriously weaken the team...
  15. was speaking to Wendy last week who runs the Rye House fish shop and she tells me that the chips will remain to be of the frozen variety rather than fresh chipped potatoes and frozen fish fillets due to the fear of rains offs ... You cannot blame the promotion for that ... but alas disappointing from a fish and chip purists point of view!
  16. OMG non aggressive and sensible post and I agree with everything you say!!!
  17. can we afford to go R/R for Adam Roynon until he is fit again?
  18. from the ET... Panthers team boss Carl Johnson reckons the bookmakers have made a huge mistake. Bet Victor have released prices on the new Premier League speedway season and they are clearly not struck on the chances of a new-look Panthers team to lift the title. The city club are 12-1 shots for glory which makes them joint sixth-favourites along with three other sides in a 13-team league. But that billing has dismayed Johnson who reckons the Panthers line-up ticks all required boxes to end an honours drought stretching back to an Elite Shield success early in 2007. Johnson said: “I find those odds staggering in all honesty. I am confident we have a team that is more than a match for any at this level. “We boast two of the top five riders in the Premier League in Olly Allen and Ulrich Ostergaard and we have also made arguably the most exciting signing of the winter by bringing in young Robert Lambert. “I’m struggling to think of a better pair of second-strings than Lewis Blackbird and Adam Roynon. “Lewis was an absolute star for us until injury cut short his 2014 season and he was regularly beating main-body Elite League riders as well for Eastbourne.
  19. how on earth did the Management finance a signing? they needed the begging bowl just to be able to race in 2015 let alone start purchasing assets..
  20. more of a bums on the track in the first corner racer!!
