It would be a tragedy if the south-west, where speedway has been a welcome attraction in Cornwall, at Exeter, Bristol and Somerset, were to lose the only track for well over a hundred miles in any direction......

Isn't the criteria that each club is supposed to nominate two out of the top three qualified riders, per average? Berwick's top three are Rory, Leon and Jye (Hans A hasn't had enough meetings for the club). They have nominated Jye and Leon.

The visitors lost by just two points on their first-ever Shielfield visit in 2021, and grabbed a very fortunate draw last season (after Chris Harris had to pull out the final race with a burnt-out clutch while leading) so might be anticipating a "third time lucky" result. However, the team spirit shown by Berwick's injury-ravaged squad against Redcar last Saturday means nothing's likely to be settled until the last race......
