  1. Yes, best of anyone l've ever seen, and did it regularly, at different clubs
  2. Not so. If new face is a trainee, he/she will be in box with the senior official, and may be invited to take control of some races under guidance. Once test has been passed, the new referee has a probationary period during which the senior referee will be present in stadium, but not usually in the box, assessing performance from various points during the meeting.
  3. National Motorcycle Museum (close to airport) is a huge place. Worth a visit for folk with biking interests.
  4. Yeah, it's called the weather. Mark Phillips most certainly tried really hard to get last Tuesday on, was battling the elements right up to about 6.45, when one final burst of rain during referee and skippers track inspection ended the hopes. Very unlucky.
  5. If it was about the 'robbery' l'd say it looked justified from where l was. Sooner we get the transponders running the better....
  6. Hence the number of tracks who run NDL teams, and can fill out their summer
  7. The rule has always (for years and years) been there: A guest must be in an official 1-7 in any (British) league. While it unfortunately prevents unnattached riders such as Proctor or Turner guesting, it also stops a crafty promoter parachuting Zmarzlik or Madsen in for a vital fixture, or more likely in the scenario suggested above where a rider could remain unattached but hawk himself around the leagues on a 'have bike, will travel' basis The rule might be harsh on Turner, etc, but it is necessary.
  8. Well, Berwick have had a good few riders over the years who have combined quite a few overseas commitments with regular Saturday racing .....
  9. Pretty sensible call, weather's pretty iffy today up here in God's country.... Looking good for tomorrow night, tho!
  10. Well, it wouldn't be the first time, would it?
  11. Not dumped. He was helping out on a 28-day contract, which has ended. In this week's Speedway Star he explains, while getting on really well with Berwick staff, after two years with the Bullets he wanted a change -- and had a deal pre-season with another club, which sadly colllapsed. He confirmed he is looking to join another team. Ben's a nice guy, wish him well.
  12. Kieron Douglas back in Bullets' line-up from next weekend?
  13. That's the thing -- at whatever level, in whatever sport, if teams are evenly-matched the spectator can enjoy the contest.......

  15. Back to the big-time again, with FTS Bandits taking over from Bullets this Saturday. Oxford in town with their two (very) big hitters, and both sides seem to be playing chess with their line-ups.
