  1. Getting himself right back in the groove, Rory Schlein raced undefeated in Adelaide tonight to be crowned 2023 South Australian Champion.
  2. I think -- not stating anything as fact -- that, as the SRBF is funded by track collections, it is ready to assist a rider injured while riding on an ACU/SCB circuit. A rider who is injured riding on a NORA track (and isn't contracted to a regular British club) could hardly be expected to draw assistance, if he (or she) suffers from such misfortune. Maybe NORA could set up a Fund to help riders injured at any of their meetings?
  3. First met Steve Casey at Uxbridge in 1971, when he was riding in the cycle-speedway finals (against, among others, later Glasgow promoter Neil Grant) and again regularly at Belle Vue in the mid-eighties. Always cheerful, always looking forward to the next challenge. Last time was at the rain-ruined British Final last season, and I was pleased and proud to have him as a friend. RIP
  4. In these happy days, the Wasps would bring over 250 travelling fans north! A bit different to Poole's current small band of camp-followers, and certainly not worth switching off a regular Friday night at either Ashfield or Armadale for......
  5. Plus seven Chargers matches, still to be announced!
  6. The clubs with NDL teams will be able to pad out their list, offer continuity to their fans.
  7. It might be that Commonwealth riders would/could ride for an NDL side only if they are already included in a CL 1-7 (and thus have visa approval)?
  8. I have no idea. But if allowing a young Commonwealth rider to ride in an NDL team affiliated to his parent CL club will mean an extra team in the NDL -- and therefore places for half a dozen aspiring British riders who wouldn't otherwise get a chance -- then bring it on!
  9. While it aint nobody's business but the new promoter's, the red herring of 'no floodlights' isnt really relevant for a list of six or seven fixtures, is it? The sun doesnt set in Cumbria until well after 9pm in the summer months -- so there's 16/17 weeks in May, June, July & August to run evening meetings.......
  10. Regulation 010.2.2 (a) states that a rider new to the Championship who has appeared in Danish, Swedish or Polish League racing in a previous season will enter the Championship on a 5.00 average. End of.
  11. Really? Despite a 4.76 effective CMA for the Champions? Better than Messrs Hume, Mountain, Kerr, Barker, Heeps, Nielsen, Sedgmen -- and just below that of Hans Andersen or Cookie..... I'd submit Jye is unlucky to have been sidelined by the Aces, but given their history of having twice invited him back after previous instances of 'resting' him, he might not be on the Premiership sidelines for too long. Meantime, the FTS Bandits will benefit from his undivided attention!
  12. I think -- given a reasonably injury-free season for a change -- Berwick will be in the play-ofs.
  13. That's in English law. Glasgow is subject to Scots Law, quite a few differences. On subject, a blanket advertising campaign for a specific meeting actually does work if the blanket's heavy enough and placed properly -- but the product on that night has to be really slick, really entertaining to ensure a good proportion of the folk attracted to that specific meeting want to come back.......
  14. If allowing Commonwealth riders to take their traditional place in British speedway again was to be one -- maybe the only -- good thing about Brexit, l'd not complain....
  15. Wasn't it Tate Zischke who crashed out? Sedgy was in the podium photo, Zischke missing?
  16. I thought well of Batch that night. He hàd càught the làd on the third lap, but wàs clearly aware it would be his first Championship point, and sat behind him to the flag.
  17. No, they wont discount an assessed average, l believe Still a 4.00.
  18. Lee is still on his assessed 4.00 for team building, as his Newcastle scores have been expunged.
  19. Thanks almost entirely to Nathan Ablitt refusing to travel to their last match at Armadale. I think it's safe to say, Mister A won't be getting resigned!
