Rain forecast all day Friday and all day Saturday. Only got Sunday morning and afternoon to get the track raceable. Got to expect another quagmire for this first leg if it goes ahead on Sunday teatime. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are forecast dry, but I am thinking Glasgow would get a much bigger crowd on a Sunday, and riders will have to adapt to very difficult track conditions. Could well be a repeat of the Oxford meeting racing wise.

I remember Lee Richardson when he joined Poole as a raw kid. 0,0,0 virtually every week. But he showed good signs of potential like Boughen. Lee went in to have a great career. He needs time and if he is dedicated there’s no reason why he can’t emulate Bewley or Lambert. Good luck to the lad.

And fully deserved to be there. Was just viewing through selfish eyes. Lost out on an extra meeting due to distance. What was surprising was the fact it took so long to beat an Oxford side with only two quality riders. Pirates will be a different force to be reckoned with. More than a ten point win gives Glasgow a decent chance. Should be thrilling as long as the track is not a quagmire like last night.

Very true but most knew 10 points was never enough of a lead for Oxford. If the final had been between Oxford and Poole, Cowley would have sold out in an hour. Many hundreds of Poole fans making the trip up. But not to be and it would be something for 15-20 Poole fans to make the trip to Glasgow. Too far for all but the most die hard. A ten hour trip up, and if the meeting finishes at 8pm Poole fans will be getting indoors around 6am. A couple of hundred pounds in fuel, food, entrance fee. Alternatively, watch it on BSN for £4. Bit of a no brainer. I flew up 2 years ago which saved time, but cop26 was on and hotel rooms were £600 a night. Slept (didn’t sleep) in airport. Got home 11.30 am. Poole fan who dropped us at airport got home 9.30 am knackered.

First leg announced for this Friday, 6th October. Forecast is lousy so is it a ploy to get Poole all the way up there on a wasted journey? Pretty sure the travelling Pirates fans will be miffed if it’s called off having wasted some serious cash making the very long trip. Sundays forecast looks a lot better. Guess we will have to just wait and see. Expecting a sodden deep track just like last night if it goes ahead as planned. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcuvz3bch#?date=2023-10-06

Glasgow Vs Oxford play offs 26/9/23
Steve Shovlar replied to Anzum's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First dry day in Glasgow is Sunday. Friday is rain most of the day. -
So all roads lead to Glasgow on Sunday at 6pm, when the super strong Tigers take on the Pirates. With Vissing fit but likely to not ride, Glasgow can use riders on form to more than cover. Complin tonight showed what he can do around Ashfield and will probably get 6-7 rides in the first leg. Pirates job is to keep it tight and the last time the two teams met here ended in a two point win to the tigers. However, since then Glasgow have strengthened up with Tarasenko coming in, making them favourites to win the title this year. But Poole never give up and even coming into the final as underdogs, will fight for every point and try and retain the title. The odds might be stacked but we will fight all the way. Should be a great couple of matches. Bring it on!

Watched the PL final on Eurosport but the BSN production knocks that into a cocked hat tbh. Watched the Glasgow v Oxford meeting in 40 mins on fast forward and it was much better.
