  1. Interestingly this statement has just been issued. We would like to remind all fans that it is illegal to stream any portion of games without prior permission from the league. In recent weeks there has been an increase in the number of occasions when matches have been shown using the app Periscope. This is a breach of copyright and will be taken very seriously by all clubs in the Elite League. Anyone found to be live streaming games without prior agreement will be banned from attending games across the league. As a league it is important we embrace the ever-changing world of social media, but at the same time we have also protect our product. Published 27th January 2016. Ice Hockey EL.
  2. Playing around with Periscope last night at the Poole Speedway Quiz night it occured to me just how simple and easy this little bit of software is, and also how much carnage it can do. The footage streamedcanbe better than the Bet365 efforts of 2014, there no signing up and it would be free. How on earth could promoters police this? Hand in your phone at the turnstile? Ban fans from the stadium if caught? (There would always be someone else to take over) Could promoters use Periscope to their advantage? Is there a professional version where a stream could be set up and a charge applied for access? Lots to think about but we could see many meetings online in 2016 from around the UK. Not only live but for 24 hours afterwards. How would this affect companies such as Rerun?
  3. Just to mention what was said last night about the Darcy night. On Wednesday 10th February theres a social meeting in the main grandstand at Poole. It is to raise funds for Darcy. Middlo is going to tell some fun stories about things that have happened in the past that have never been mentioned before. Could be other stuff that will be added in the next week or so. Entry is £8 to go to Darcy rehabilitation. Everyone welcome. Starts at 7.30 but to get a table get there early.
  4. A bit of tonights quiz. https://www.periscope.tv/w/aXkfYTFtTUVQZVdxTm1RR2J8MWVhS2JvbGxYdlpHWJGobbAXGaoTZH5YwfRMbhUn_vqY9egGrUzV-nb1i06q
  5. Two weeks tonight at Poole. An evening with Middlo in aid of Darcy. Using the glass stand to get more in. £8 entry. Come early. Lots of stories never heard before!
  6. Big crowd there though. Could have been up the A2 and I am pretty sure you can see the coast/thames estuary just before the riders come into the bend. This is part one of three 15 minute clips of the Gravesend area in the late 50's or early 60's. As a kid who lived there until I was six i remember parts of it.
  7. Speedway quiz tomorrow night at the stadium. Always good for a laugh.
  8. I was just having a look around youtube and discovered some very interesting grass track footage from the late 50's or early 60's. http://youtu.be/zNPuBto758Q Take a look at around 11.20 seconds. Somewhere near Gravesend in Kent. Anyone have any idea about it?
  9. Great news on the much needed changes to the Leicester track. On both my visits there the racing has been pretty diabolical And the issue with the shape was plain to see. Really though, if this work was to be carried out, why wasn't it started after the end of the season, which would have given it ample opportunity to bed in? Was it a late decision to make the changes by the Leicester promotion? Regardless of timing though it's great news for fans of speedway. The Leister stadium is very good and the track was the only thing to let it down. Hopefully these changes will bring proper racing back to the town and with it the excitement the sport is known for.
  10. What a load of absolute trash talk from all the usual subjects. The forum has finally hit rock bottom. It perhaps wouldnt be so bad if it was a bit of windup banter but this is simply all pathetic.
  11. I am bewildered to know what cheating Poole and Matt Ford have gone and done now?
  12. I don't think Matt even attends the AGM but has representatives there for the club. Matt Ford has no need to act in the way you imagine. He is clearly the most professional and experienced promoter out of the lot of them. Some have been in the game longer but don't have their finger right on the pulse, which is needed to be successful in this day and age. It is truly the golden age of Poole Speedway but take heart that it will not last forever. Other clubs have dominated in the past before slipping back into the pack and the same will happen with Poole. Just hope not for a good few years though!
  13. No its not correct as that is most certainly NOT my account. I do not use Twitter and it was clearly made up a fair while ago by someone on here. Tried to get it removed but impossible.
  14. So it gives you a right to bully him, because others do? Like a bloody school playground.
  15. If the place isn't sold out at those prices it never will be. Have a feeling with a capacity of only 10,000 both days will be sold out before the event. Touts at speedway?
  16. Jesus effing Christ. This forum has completely gone to the dogs. Starman defending everything Poole including Matt Fords farts, and Gavan and his band of not very merry honchos in there usual slagging off mode to try and score a few brownie points. For heavens sake give it a bloody rest the lot of you and talk about the blinking speedway. If you are wanting to post about a grammar mistake of Starmans life as a hospital porter or someone's bad eyesight take to the kids section. I know it's winter and not much to discuss but bloody hell some of these threads are beyond banal.
  17. It has to be a sell out at that price on both days. Think i will take the Renault trafic up and kip in the back on the put you up.
  18. So it's £25 to stand which is £12.50 a meeting? Absolute bargain! What is the capacity of this new stadium?
  19. So we have our full side and as yet I haven't seen a team to match our 1-7. Could we smash more records no make it four on the bounce? We certainly have a very good chance. I for one am very happy with the team for 2016.
  20. Great news for Kyle. I mean, the lack of ambition coming from him must have meant a lot of arm twisting by Pila for him to get off his ass and bother to say yes. Thanks for the heads up on tomorrow. I was going along to this.
  21. And that's Pooles fault?😳 If other promoters were on the ball like Matt Ford the sport would be thriving.
  22. I think we can be fairly honest and write Coventry out of the title race next season judging by the 7 they have put together. Woryna a is certainly one for the future but a rider with EL experience was required. Coventry go into 2016 with 4 reserves in their lineup. The two reserves, Garrity and Woryna. Where this team will fail IMO is that when one of the reserves moves up, if indeed they get a high enough average above Garrity and Woryna, they will be replaced by one of those two at reserve, so not making much of a difference. In the case of Poole, when Newman moves up, he will likely be replaced by Kurtz, who with due respect is a rider of higher ability than Garrity. By allowing Garrity into the 1-5 instead of insisting he starts at reserve, the Coventry management made a right faux pas. Still I shall be looking forward to my two trips to Brandon in 2016 for the A and B fixtures.
