Poole V Coventry Ela. 20/04/16
Steve Shovlar replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well just got back and I have to say first and foremost that the track was poor. Completely different from 14 days ago when it produced super racing. Tonight saw heatne and KK post the fastest time in four years. Within 5 heats it was cle.ar it had been underwatered and by heat 9 there were billowing clouds of dust making the eyes sting. At the interval the hoses came out but it was a little too little too late. Although having said that some of the best races were after the interval with some good passing from both teams, well Poole and Harris. Coventry actually started well and took a decent lead. With no grip out wideriders like Buckowski weretrying and failing to go around the outside. But then it all changed, Poole stepped up a gear and left Coventry for dead. Only Harris, and the trying Josh Bates putting up any kind of resistance. For Poole. Holder was good but not at his best. Kurtz was excellent after his first ride when he was left for dead. Watt minus his beard rode well after his. First ride. Buckowski was excellent value. Hans showed experience and was very good. Newman had a duff first ride then got better. Race of the night in heat 12. Ellis was perfect. A clean max with some good pasing. Seems to love the Poole track. For Coventry. Kk started like a rocket, fell in his next then didn't want to know. Garrity is a reserve in a top fiveberth but battled. King. Was he there? Shocking non threat. Harris was good and battled as expected. Sarjeant rolled twice and was caught both times. Not an EL standard reserve. Bates battled for his points all night. Can't fault him for his efforts. Much easier win than expected. KK was clearly affected by his fall. King failed to show. Looking forward to the return on Friday. -

Track has been poor but racing is better after interval. Bates has tried his heart out but cant hold off rampaging Pirates. -

I agree with everyone who says the track is bad. Underwatered, dusty as hell. Worst it has been they are now on track with hoses but too little too late. Coventry have just been bashed for six (5-1's in a row) I hear there are some bery bitter Coventry fans on bend one blaming Matt Ford for Sarjeants roller and subsequent call back. They need to realise they are being outclassed. -
Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Steve Shovlar replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Stop being a silly and realise other people have different opinions to yours. I respect people who can discuss and disagree but not morons who think they are right and if you think different you are a fool. This is the problem you constantly have. You fail to understand a different opinion to yours is just as valid. You say you got 23 likes over a post. I got 18. So 55/45% in your favour. Thats not just a few saying Woffinden is letting his British fans down. I am not getting into a slagging maych with you because I am way above that level. I will just say have some respect for posters with a different opinion to your own. Just because we support the same club doesnt mean we have the same views. Nothing wrong in that. I feel strongly because he is letting his British fans down. If you think its fine to snub his home country then fair enough. Personally I think it stinks. -

Better warn you now not to start a fight with me again. Don't call me a fool for having a different opinion. And by the way my post on page one has also received large support. 18 likes. I stick by saying Woffinden has let down his British fans by refusing to ride here. -

Both harris and kk excluded in heat 6. 5-0 coming up. Watt actually put kk under pressure and kk lost it. Thought it would be anailed on 1-5 before the race. Seen three Cov fans. I am just making a few comments not giving out any heat details as such. -

Track tonight is very slick and from the gate. Fast times. Two seconds faster compared to two weeks ago. Poole riders trying lines but no grip and going backwards at the mo. -

a real shame for the lad who showed good promise. Always tried to get stuck in and entertain the crowd. -

Why do you doubt it? KK and Harris love it around Poole, and we have some racers as well. For all the stick the Poole track gets on here from some, it does produce excellent racing most of the time and tonight should be no different. Lets squash those bees! -

Weathers all set fair today so no problems with this not taking place. Should be an entertaining meeting. -
Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Steve Shovlar replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I would like to make one thing clear, which didn't come over on my previous posts, as I am quite angry on this subject. I do believe Woffinden is a great rider and worthy World Champion. His work for charity is exemplorary and he deserves praise for his work in this field. No other rider off the top of my head has done so much for such worthy causes. But it does frustrate me that we have a British World Champion who has shunned his own country's league to entertain fans in other countrys rather than his own. He might feel its a pain to ride in the EL but as a Brit and as a World Champion is is an ambassador to the sport and should have helped re-ignite the sport by riding here. Instead he has chosen to be invisible to the British speedway public and his time as World Champion is a waste for the sport in the UK when it could have been used well. Not only has he alienated UK fans with his blatant disregard to the EL, but he has also probably missed out on quite a but of sponsorship. Furthermore, a world champion normally has a huge following from his own country behind him, but his actions have split his support in the UK, as this thread clearly shows. A shame IMO and one he will probably look back at at after his career is over with regret. -

A British world champion who cant be arsed to support the top league in this country deserves all the distain thrown at him. A real shame because having the world champ in the EL would have been a big draw card and he would have shown support for the country that gave him the brake. Instead he would rather ride in Poland and Sweden. I cant fathom why anyone would want to support him after basically craping on his own country's fans. As far as I am concerned he can carry on singing Waltzing Matilda and after refusing to ride here hope he never gets a spoty nomination he so desperately craves. -

Why should we care? Holder, Zagar, Doyle can ride here and the other leagues but its too much for the plastic Brit? I hope he recieves a chorus of boos when he is announced at Cardiff.- 601 replies

Coventry V Poole El Friday 22nd April 2016

If Poole have to ride with a PL 6 pointer so be it, but with Horton refusing to change dates it just goes to show how low they have to go to get the three points. -

Very disappointing that we don't go to Coventry at full strength. A gues is never the same. If Holder scored five then fair enough he has a duffer and we lose. If a guest scores five then we lost because of that and Holder would have scored more etc etc. Guess we will discover who Matt has lined up in the next couple of days. This is something that could be avoided. The fixtures come out far too late and other leagues have their fixtures sorted way before the uk. Whoever planned Fridays Cov v Poole meeting must have known before the season even started that Holder would not be available and this meeting could have been switched a week to avoid this scenario. -

I can see no reason why we wouldn't be allowed a guest. He is our number one. If the Torun meeting is not a rearranged fixture, Holder by not being a Brit doesn't have to put uk first, unfortunately. A guest should be allowed. If we have to run with a 3 pointer Coventry will get the points in a hollow victory which will be poor for everyone. -

Watching Greg here, is this the season old father time catches up with the guy? I hope not but there are a lot of fearless youngsters coming through and to stay at the top as long as he has is a remarkable achievement. -
