  1. Absolutely, a Northern triumverate, keep the expenses down as well!!
  2. Yes, too many niggling injuries this time round has done him no favours, on a similar theme the same could be said of Ashley Morris, no progress from him, didn't help his or our cause this year either? Was done to help Ricky Wells, he too was struggling there so a change of position was to benefit him which does seem to have started to pay off!! If "we" got £10k for Campton I'd keep it!! Agree with you on the home form he has certainly improved over the last few weeks in my mind caused by the fact that he doesn't fight his bike all the time like he used to, much more fluid now and it shows, definitely has speed to burn at DP, shame, like several other's, he's not transferring it to the away tracks?
  3. Poor result!!! Just proves my point from yesterday, Comets reliable at home ... away, "unreliable"? Might just about hang on to sixth place for the play offs but basically on the premise of being the best of the worst left over from the top five, not good enough really to trouble the judge, unless our away form improves dramatically we are just making the season longer when most people now are of the feeling that they'd just prefer to see it end and start afresh next year? Only one race winner in the team this afternoon at a track we nearly always go well on say's it all, not good enough, again just looks like the usual, our top guys dont put it all in and the remainder not on the premises to make up the shortfall, the difference between a winning team and an also ran? Few more away matches scattered about this week and I dont really see any points from any of them so confirmation of a top six spot may have to wait til Saturday's dble header with Sheff, and we will shift them coz "we're at home" what happens after is another matter!!
  4. Yes, it was deemed by the County Ambulance crew best to air lift him to a better qualified hospital straight away as a precaution rather than spend time in the locale first!! Managed to make this after all tho not the best of meetings to be fair, Glasgow not on song this night as last whereas Comets were, always in the van, always the more likely to win!! Poor return from Rusty via e/f's falls hamstrung Glasgow, Wolbert a bit in and out, Pijper was solid, Lykke tried hard without ever looking like winning a race but worthy of his points and Aarnio just got going a bit too late!! Losing Mills to that purler of a crash, (heard rather than seen) didn't help either, hope his injuries are not too serious but wiping out several metres of fence all on your own never looks good? Get well soon fella!! Comets tho much too good tonight with excellent contributions all round most noteworthy through Rene and Kyle and major plusses for Ricky and Mason, Josh slipped up in one and fair enough returns from Joe and Simon helped pull out the comfortable win and bag the three pts!!
  5. Succeeded in dramatic effect but contributing very little else, always wisest to wait for the reasons before making this type of assumption!! Fortunately for me, a change of plan and earlier finish got me to the meeting tonight and I am very pleased with the results, said you cant write the Comets off at home.... only away!! Some very good racing on show in this match and even with a depleted side Somerset were always in the mix and very worthy of an overrun, still down after Ht10 and strong line up's in the next two they must have felt they had a chance to get a pt out of this but, despite their best efforts, beaten off by a couple of very determined Comets in Kyle and Rene, those pts were ours and staying here!! Very solid scoring again throughout the team, determination again showing up well, better gating, improved effort so explain, why cant this transfer to away tracks, we would be in a far better position if we rode their's like they ride ours? Sad to see young Joe carted off toward the end, didn't see what the problem was with the crash, just looked like one of those bunching incidents that would see riders straight up and walking away, one of those that "could" be worse than it looked? Gotta hope that it isn't, Joe just starting to get into the swing, forming some stability in the reserves with Lambo and now this, another just when you didn't want it scenario all too typical for us at the business end of the season, could be back to the NL guests again with so many matches due this coming week so we didn't need this? Get well soon young man, all the best!! And a BIG well done to the Comets, great result against a Champion elect team!!
  6. Wont see this match either, but confidently predict a 10pt win, (positive again) agree Jenga, different story this time at the basement, Lambo not quite at where he was before the injury but he and JJ should run up a few more pts than last time which should see us through OK, 50-40!!
  7. Not going to see this match due to work commitments, funny how people are writing off the Comets at home, away understandable but I think we shall win this just to add another link into our inconsistent season, will chance a 49-41!! (this is me trying to be positive again, even after last night)
  8. The way we are going AF I dont think I would fancy that either!!
  9. So much for trying to be positive, still think that we are the most likely team to accept the poison chalice of sixth in the league owing to us having so many matches in hand!! Really dont want that to happen though as our away form is quite simply awful at the moment, couldn't win an argument never mind three points and whoever is in the top slots have mullered us once already and likely to do so again? Honestly thought we could get at least a point from Sheff this time especially with a full team but, we seem to have gone backwards, a worse performance than last time, dont know where the fight has gone we just appear to be going through the motions? Going to be nigh on impossible for any away points now cepting another bad night from P,boro next week so the best we can hope for is the remaining 12pts from our home dble headers and hope it's either "enough" or, on this form, not enough and we can call it a day!! We'll do well just to finish the league programme, think we'd better just stick to that?
  10. Also counts for the Comets, we start tonight on a run of 9 matches in 10 days, weather permitting, we too could qualify for the play offs but having completed nowhere near our full complement of league fixtures? Even if all 9 do get run we would still be short of a full programme and effectively racing for the title in said competition, we would then be in the position of trying to finish our programme after the title has already been decided, did someone mention meaningless matches?
  11. Never a good sign going from injured one day to fit the next, didn't work out last time for Kyle so have to hope he's on the money this? With so many matches in hand of everyone else some away points will do us the world of good and that needs to start tonight, didn't do very well here last time so an improved performance required, dont expect Steady to look back once he hits the front so need to be 2nd/3rd in his races at least? Judging by P,boro's poor show at Rye last night we could quite easily take that 6th spot with a minimum of effort but we need to help ourselves with some away pts and not rely on others falling apart, easily good enough for at least a point but 3 would be better? A lot will depend on how Kyle actually goes under race conditions coz Sheff will exploit that and any other under par riders, just like they did last time so we have to be stronger all round!! Worst case scenario for us just the 1pt, have to hope for better and go for the 3 at least!!
  12. The way they are going at the moment I would be pretty disappointed if we got nothing from Peterboro? Jenga has a stammer, thought you would have worked that one out yourself!!
  13. Obviously depending on prior results, the Peterboro v Comets match Sept 9th could go a fair way to deciding whom gets that sixth spot? Comets have five away matches in just over a week starting on Thurs at Sheffield, desperately need to get points from some of them to put the pressure on!! Two home double headers in between would yield a max of 12pts before cut off time and one of those matches is Somerset so away pts are vital, trouble is there isn't an easy match in them?
  14. Or even using that tired old cliche, "the wake up call" worth it for me if he rides like that all of the time!! Absolutely he did, Hts14/15 my nominated races as best seen in ages, and I say again, if we go next year it's Jacobs/Lambert for me!!
  15. As I suspected, just 4pts from R/R was never going to be enough to topple Scunny, couple that with 17pts from David Howe versus five from the Comets pair and the result is never really in doubt? Good efforts from Lawson/Wells not too bad from Kyle/Mason but not good enough on the day really, Scunny the more solid overall just had, what looks like, a bit too much for us in vital areas still, never mind, it hasn't been that bad a weekend just gotta keep trying!! Well done to Scunny, good 3pts for you there!!
  16. Absolutely, I can only go on what I see of most riders when they visit DP and JB was excellent value for the appearance which is why I gave Rye a bit of a chance of a reasonable score yesterday if he'd been in it, as for the highlighted bit I'm sure Shadders will know, the all seeing eye knows everything!!
  17. Maybe not but I would expect Bunyan to be professional and put some effort in for you after all, he proved he can go well on this track and as you suggested earlier, points means money but then, you know the intrigue of Rye House far better than I ever will!!
  18. That's fine then, that's your opinion, but I'm talking about last night, did he take anyone out last night to achieve what he did or did he race for it? I'm not going to keep harping on about something that happened four years ago and let that incident keep clouding my judgement, yes, he was reckless at times but he wasn't, not at any stage yesterday, we saw exactly what he can do when he put's his racing head on, sure time will tell if he's changed but based on what I witnessed I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, great racing from him and worthy of credit!!
  19. Must be singing off the same sheet, I'm sorry guys but as much as I liked Kenny Ingalls as a rider it's time to move on, you might not like Josh Auty as a man but his performance on track last night was deserving of respect, however begrudgingly you might have offered it you cant deny the guy rode superbly and I certainly take my hat off to him for that!!
  20. Looking for a similar type performance as last night from the Comets in this, gonna be a tough one tho as I expect Klindt will be far better than he showed at DP, still expect Lawson/Howarth/Wells wil be a match for him but it will be the efforts from R/R that will decide whether we get any points? On a good day I'm hopeful of a point, if it's not to be then about a similar score to last night in favour of Scunny!!
  21. Would have agreed with you Shadders if I'd known that Bunyan wasn't riding, when you saw what an experienced rider like David Howe did from reserve in the follow up meeting, you cant help but think what might have been?
  22. Much better opposition from Scunny, much more competitive racing and some cracking races included!! Definitely worth the wait, nip and tuck for most if not all of the meeting and culminated in probably two of the best races I've seen here this season, Joe Jacobs just got the best run in Ht 14 and stayed in front of Josh Auty for almost 3 laps and forcing the best out of Josh just to stay with him never mind get passed, I think that the more he rides this track the better he's getting, definitely a keeper if we go again next year!! Ride of the night tho, imo, Auty again Ht15 absolutely superb, right out of the top drawer, to be passed by two flying Comets in Josh and Kyle who looked to be disappearing into the distance then hunting them down again rounding Kyle off bend two and back up the inside of Josh off 3/4 had to be seen, speed, skill and class worth the money on it's own!! The one sad part of it all tho, the booing of Auty on the way round after the race, totally uncalled for and totally indefensible, the guy rode extremely well all night never put a foot wrong and deserved better, give the guy some bloody credit he earned it in my book!! Word for David Howe too at reserve, 12pts a real ace in the hole for Scunny down there, showed what a bit of experience can bring to the party!! Good night's work tho, 6pts in total helps us no end, slightly less even points spread for this meeting but still worthy for effort, Josh/Kyle the stand out's with a really good try from Joe and solid performances from Rene, Mason and Ricky, only Simon missing out this time maybe dodgy wrist playing up a bit after two meetings? Not a bad night entertainment wise for £21, track held up pretty well considering tho a bit too much grading slowing things down mean't we "just about" made the curfew time, but we wont mention that!!
  23. Poor match, some good races but overall poor, mainly gate and gone for the Comets, Rye missed the resolve of Bunyan big time at the bottom end, cant run rider replacement with such weak reserves and expect to do anything major, a contribution from him, aka like last week, and Rye would have been a lot closer even with only 3 riders!! Greenwood to be fair tried hard just outclassed a little bit, Fox was awful did next to nothing, Compton looked a bit better this time but still easily beaten off, no idea what's happened to Steve Boxall, a shadow of whom he once was, had a couple of good races but never looked like getting by anyone, Garrity was pretty good, worth his points but should have won at least one race but Kennett easily the stand out and involved in nearly all Rye's best races!! Comets tho looked about as hungry for a win as I've seen in weeks, huge improvement in body language showed in the determination to try and win every race, good points spread throughout so a nice payday for most with surely a boost in confidence to boot. Happy with the win and the 3pts, nice start to the night's proceedings!!
  24. Followed this match a little bit on updates before I went to work, we seemed to be going along pretty nicely for a while, good even spread of points about the place then, just drifted too far away from the Devils in the latter stages to gain a point? Was still a possibility even with a Ht to go before the rain stepped in to arm wrestle a result but it would have been a big ask to get the 1-5 to achieve it? Certainly looked like an improved performance, of sorts, but still no cigar, we're plunging down the league at the moment so 6pts from tonight are vital, for credibility as much as anything else I mean, for goodness sake, we're better than this!!
