  1. Love the guy but hope he is not our No.1. He’s been everywhere and will be relied upon away. His performances at BP to date have been patchy, but will no doubt be decent once he gets dialled in on his hew home track. A bit concerned about his reputation as a guesting **. Whilst there is no substitute for practice, at his age, recovery periods from any injury can only get longer. Bottom line here though is that he will attract people to BP every week.
  2. Well he would have been if he hadn’t injured himself laughing at the prospect. Four other promoters are now eligible to take an additional vote to cover his absence.
  3. If this is the case, Craig Cook would be an option for the final place. Is he worth a punt? Someone will surely give him an opportunity in this league on a low average?
  4. So when they reconvene, the meeting room might be prepared differently to the practice session then? That could catch could catch some promoters out and affect their decision making.
  5. May lack the necessary clout in heats 13 & 15 if scores were tight.
  6. Two many Cooks spoiled the broth for Lions tonight. Pirates seemed to want it more and deserved to win. Good night/good riddance British Speedway 2022.
  7. So, Friday it is then. 7.00pm start for a double header. Hmm…. hope they have allowed for a sun break and ………watering the track!
  8. They did but the announcement has been postponed. A new date for the announcement is being discussed and whether (anybody is still interested) will need to be taken into consideration.
  9. Dickson is clearly prepared to sacrifice at least three heats. No.5 is partnered with reserves apart from heat 13. Seems to be heavily reliant on the Worrall/Nicholls partnership delivering heat advantages. Agreed, its a big risk.
  10. According to the SCB 2022 Speedway Regulations: ‘Any fixture that cannot be completed by 31 October 2022 will be decided by the sports equivalent Duckworth Lewis method of rock/paper/scissors between team captains on a best of three basis. Referees will not allow racing gloves to be worn during this process’.
  11. The final should be a single match at Leicester, with no return fixture at Wimbo Road. Poole fans will moan but true pirates supposedly cope with one leg.
  12. Yes it is riot night actually, you cheeky so and so. A favourite song of the rioters is ‘ The Wheels From Bus Cannot Be Found’ (you know the tune) so those travelling by coach need to have a plan ‘B’ for getting home.
  13. Since speedway returned to Leicester in 2011 they have raced in both the first and second tiers. Coincidentally, they have never raced against Peterborough in either league.
  14. I would be amazed if Doyle doesn't get tapped up. The obvious choice for the No.1 and is very difficult to beat around BP. He was popular with supporters too in his previous stint. All for seeing the better riders at Leicester, on a track that has improved track since they last competed at this level. It will be a shame though to see the inevitable departure of the Thompson's who need a couple more years in the second tier.
  15. Pains me to say it but I can't see the Lions overcoming Poole over two legs. Leicester rely too heavily on their heat leaders and if either of the big three dip away, we are stuffed. I think Poole will only need to bring 10 point lead to BP. The form that the Pirates are in, with the Cooks now firing, they might not even need a double figure lead. If the Lions can keep it reasonably tight away though, the return leg will be a cracker in front of a big crowd.
  16. I have had a go and have to hold my hand up and admit that my photos are no better than his.
  17. That would explain why he rarely scores any points. Rather than be taking photos of the track, He should be concentrating on trying to catch the riders in front of him, who appear to be well out of site in this photo.
  18. Speedway results (but not score margins) are usually fairly predictable, but not always, as this week has shown with the Lions. Admittedly Poole are a stronger team than the Monarchs, but nobody could ever have seen this coming tonight. Dickson’s motivational talk combined with a size 10 steel toe cap boot seems to have worked, although young Joe remains a worry away from BP. Tomorrow’s meeting is now of zero interest and many Lions fans will no doubt not bother attending. As a speedway supporter, I find it quite sad that tonight was the last time Monarchs fans would see their team until who knows when (hopefully not too long) and they have belly flopped. Any Monarchs fan attending Leicester tomorrow should be admitted free and given a voucher for a free beer.
  19. Hopefully everyone in the Lions camp will rally around Joe to help him overcome his dip in form. His points contribution for the remainder of the season will be important. If Joe can at least maintain his current average, I would be quite confident that silverware will be coming to BP this season. Recent performances suggest that others outside of the top three will be at the party. He may only be 18 but he will not like the idea that he may be considered a passenger. Come on Joe, one last push!
  20. This could be up to an 8 point win either way, although the outcome is unlikely to be of any significance. It would be good if the Lions middle and lower order can show that they can contribute away from BP ready for the play offs, even though Scunny is not a track they will visit again this season.
  21. He says you’re wrong, they are all grey apparently.
  22. Really? So that’s why my dog never beats me at snooker!
