  1. It can be done providing the points monies don't get away from clubs again. But £15 on the gate (too steep but its happening), circa 600 crowd = £9k. £25 per point average across a team, decent team getting 50 points home and away = £2.5k. That leaves £6500 of leftovers. Yes there is then travelling costs, insurances, rent, medical etc but there is still a little meat left on the bone at those figures. The prime juggling act is how to get gate costs down / attendance up to balance each other out then the atmosphere is better etc. Get the points money down to £20 per point (and there are plenty of NL riders who would happily rider for that) and sustainability can occur. Sadly it only takes one or two clubs to buckle and throw silly money at riders and the whole thing collapses again.
  2. Some promotions are in charge, others don't have a voice or vote on the product that they are trying to sell to the public whilst others are pulling the strings and forcing changes onto others. I wish that Speedway was a bloodline sport, that it appealed to the masses and people attended however their team was performing (although lets not cloud facts that football fans are just happy to turn up, they too are looking for a certain standard and complain royally if that is not achieved). The problem is that many of those 'on here' were regular attending fans but have been driven away for a number of reasons and there is almost nothing done to entice them back. Calls of use it or lose it don't matter to those who already think its over priced, strung out, mixed quality racing. They have already made up their minds that they can live without. There is no one size fits all and until the powers that be realise that the sport will keep sinking
  3. Sadly the sport has been split into multiple camps for a while now with supporters of teams and supporters of the sport. These often want quite different outcomes in a match. Throw in the mixed/forced race nights and formats and its no wonder that interest is dwindling. Decisions by a few and dictated to the masses just isn't going to keep every team afloat and in some areas it just may not be sustainable at any level to run speedway. We have X UK tracks, Y UK teams and very few of them want to run the same way and yet they are all forced into doing so.
  4. I feel for Newcastle i really do. The current season is a bust and is about avoiding losing bucket loads of money and being able to come to the tapes again in 2022. If they do get to the tapes in 2022 the team assembly will be on the back foot because they don't have the financial clout of other teams which has been further hampered by this season. There is the dwindling fans numbers due to multiple reasons and then that will largely dictate the budget available for team building next year. Until the cycle can be broken it feels like repeated iffy times for the Diamonds
  5. Fingers crossed that those riders with Island connections make the first leap. Plenty of ex Warriors and away riders who made the most of the extra laps available to them. Will only take a brave few to get the ball rolling. Just hope riders remember those who have provided opportunities to them in the past.
  6. This is very true and Berwicks results thus far have exceeded all my expectations. The bullets have put themselves in with a strong chance of being at or near the top come the end of season but the loss of Leon and strong teams still to face i fear that mid table beckons.
  7. Think he gave up again after the failed comeback. Whilst i never liked him pre leg break it was sad to see him unable to move properly on the bike after.
  8. Being at reserve illustrates that Harris' time as a top flight rider is almost over. In all those years he still hasn't cracked bike setup, reliability or modern fitness.
  9. Shame for Berwick that the replacement is 4 points below the outgoing rider and feel like it ends any outside chances of Berwick being at the sharp end of the season. Dont have any outstanding memories of Crang being that good a rider but he did hit over 6 in tougher times so good luck to him on his return and it could have been worse as i was fearing Luke Chessell.
  10. and do Brum want it to be replayed? I know its not fan friendly to admit defeat but might make some financial sense to let it go and focus on the league campaign?
  11. Apologies i forgot its the exciting PL where the "same" teams race each other 4 times
  12. Or wait for those who do sign up to it to blab the "secret" news in minutes which is what i do. There's also a big hint on the Kent website....
  13. Whilst i agree with that i do wish there was a minimum standard for the Prem (i.e achieved CL average) which was briefly one of the sensible rules brought in only to be dropped again.
  14. Quick count shows 10 Wolves matches left plus play offs. I can't fault his ambition and its a wise move when his form is currently on the crest of a wave and long may it continue. Getting a chance in a winning team isn't something that comes around all that often (nobody say once a season!)
  15. Whilst your post is perfectly well reasoned the tyres were already developed and in use abroad and GPs plus the one tyre rule isn't applied in Poland (Speedways benchmark country?). I do appreciate the disposal elements and it must be very costly to chuck the used tyres in a massive pile and do nothing with them/use them to keep greyhound sheeting down/put signs up saying no tyres left in pits so riders have to take them away and dispose thier selves (yes i know nobody acknowledges the signs).
  16. Precisely all these excusive agreements just hurt the sport in the UK and prevent it from moving forward. Instead of the kick backs and dodgy deals we could have had any hologomated tyre is allowed for use in the UK. If there is an advantage between one and another at certain tracks then it adds to part of the spectacle. Mitas may not have been perfect but at least everyone knew its flaws and how to work around them.
  17. Not is Anlas are sucking up the cost for sub-standard products? Although the costs as a whole have gone up as these new tyres are more considerably more expensive than the outgoing Mitas. As ever in Speedway the cost of these 'improvements' only ever get passed on to the paying public
  18. Whilst that seems/sounds likely it would be nice to see some of the data actually gathered rather than the usual hearsay. Where the tracks monitored significantly harder on tyres? Have all tracks been visited on multiple occasions? Its likely that a hot dry day with slick surface will give notably different results to a cold damp day with grip in the surface. Just seen the NDL regs and they can use a new tyre and as many used (both edges) as they like so are probably in a stronger position than most CL clubs for once.
  19. Can see the circular argument at P'boro and Scunny but not Glasgow and Belle Vue. Doesn't sound like any considerations to how tracks are prepared has been listed? The tyres won't cook up as much on a deeper surface as they will a slick one so tracks like P'boro can vary greatly depending on preparation. If its being done on safety grounds the all tracks should get two tyres per rider but sounds more like monetary input is having a say on it as usual.
  20. Putting it out there first.....Ridiculous.....what on earth states that those listed 4 tracks are harder on tyres than the others? Any tracl on any day prepared a certain way can rip these new lumps of (insert expletive here) to bits. Sounds to me that there has been an admittance that the untested tyres are not up to task. Always glad to see that the NDL isn't worthy of any inclusion as ever
  21. Creates quite a dynamic but chaotic reserve pairing at Plymouth with Bowtell and Ruddick just as likely to bang in a 5-1 for the Gladiators as a 0-5 against, Luke will also bring some stability to the team rather than the constant booking of guests.
  22. In all fairness they are both prospects but on current form you certainly have to put Leon ahead along with Brennan & Rowe. Hopefully Kemp will have a springboard moment shortly too. Pleased to see Leon taking the bold moves though and committing to higher tiers and Poland also. I feared for a while that he was stagnating but he is really pushing on now. It also means that he doesn't need to keep any reserve energy for the seconds halves and can really give everything to the bandits meetings.
  23. Some refreshing honesty from the Kings stating that targets Kasper & Auty have fallen through. certainly shows they are looking/trying plus also aware that RR does them no favours at all.
