Time will tell but he didn't do much at Plymouth either and those performances are far more important -

Great move would be if its a replacement for Goret -
In all honesty if you pay your money you could run a match at scunny between the Godfrey Gits and BSPL bellenders if you wanted too

Tom is great. Attitude, personality, equipment hes got everything except a little bit of luck. Every time he hits a run of form he gets held back by injuries. A little bit of luck and can see even bigger improvements from him.

Yet another example of idiocy by the governing bodies. If speedway was considered a sport as a whole by all promotions rather than their personal interests then we would be in a far greater place. Additional laps for NL grade riders can only be a benefit to their own NDL teams, a well run production engaging existing a new fans is a benefit to the sport as a whole. The IOW haven't pitched up next to an existing track and are trying to take away business, they are not trying to harm the sport in any way in fact they are trying to help it grow. If a rider doesn't fancy a night on the Island due to whatever reason then fine but at least give them the option.

BIRMINGHAM v REDCAR WEDS JUNE 2ND
Sings4Speedway replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes riders can at times have a prima donna streak but prep the track so there is no debates. A small soft patch or wetter areas than others won't stop riders taking to the track it will just cause them to grumble a bit. If the track was "slushy" as listed on the statement then the away team had every right to complain as the watering had gone badly wrong and in fairness would have been entirely evident at 5pm 6pm and so on so why was it left until prior to the start to try and resolve it? As earlier posters have stated if a track isn't in a raceable agreed condition 30minutes after the agreed start time then the match should be abandoned, full refunds issued and the paying public not left woefully short changed -
"illness" is the given reason. Obviously can happen but feels a touch weak

BIRMINGHAM v REDCAR WEDS JUNE 2ND
Sings4Speedway replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Spot on and nailed one of the biggest issues with the sport. UK speedway is run by individuals with self interests only rather than promoting the sport as whole and adhering to a base level of acceptability. Fortunately we are blessed with many clubs who go above and beyond this but their efforts are wasted every time there is a farcical performance by another promotion and what upsets fans most is poorly considered excuses (and Rogers is full of them) If Brum came out and said we have made a mess of the track prep this afternoon but we are trying to put it right some fans might have taken it a little better, delays are annoying but lies are unacceptable -

Feel sorry for fans kept waiting around and 2nd halfers who must be thoroughly cheesed off -
I think thats where Eastbourne have got it right with Laurence in the team. Whilst he may not double his average he won't throw many silly point away like other less experienced and over excited riders. Mildenhall were in a similar position with Butcher until he bust his elbow at the weekend.

Plymouth Vs Kent (Championship) - 1st June
Sings4Speedway replied to ellioth4's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The duck at P'boro certainly seems the anomaly rather than the norm and thus far Bjarne seems an excellent addition to the leagues. With the greatest of respect to him he is 42 years old and the weather was pretty toasty for the double header....maybe two meetings in a day were just a bit much for him? -

Its no secret that every extra lap is a benefit but there are just as many riders with lesser track time over the 'closed' season who are doing well. These riders are those who have gone the extra bit to pick up some laps where they can and/or have the bonus of natural talent to carry them through. Not everyone is being held to the same levels of expectation and its certainly naïve to think that a couple of good early meetings equals a whole seasons success or failure but with a reduced fixture list hitting the ground running early is critical. -
Plymouth Vs Kent (Championship) - 1st June

Thinking very much the same thing, very odd choice. Gaters paradise so picking Heeps..... I know its in the rules but doesnt feel right that a home team can use a tactical sub. Plymouth picked wisely with thier guest and saved thier blushes but Goret must be a huge concern. -

Whilst i admit its been more difficult than normal there have certainly bern plenty of chances for riders to get laps in and i dont accept that anyone in a team and serious about keeping it should be taking to the track for the first time in 18months. That said i do accept that race rust is very much an element for some riders but there are lads with experience getting outshone by those having a taste of league racing for the first time. -
Throw Berwick into that mix too. That said with enough non scorers in reserve race one of them has to take the win... Clouting needs a bit of confidence to get himself going but there are big gaps between meetings that may prevent that from happening.

I think you are being a little harsh on the Kent 'rabbits' as you refer to them given that of the tail Clouting has has broken spells of appearances for the club but is in reality one of the better slow burner new season novices, Cousins can't be classed as a rabbit, Mulford has already shown in the previous running season he has ability and has only had time to improve and Warren with the greatest of respect is included in the team for the wrong reasons. Don't forget that Kent came up against another serious title contender who have built a team with more strength in depth so are scooping up the minor placings in races. Too often the focus on Speedway is the race winners whereas the way to win matches is by having far fewer last places. -
Its certainly on the steeper end as stated above Newcastle is £20 for their double headers, Berwick & Eastbourne are after £24 which isn't such a jump from the CL admission price. It does seem that Berwick have 'allegedly' had a lot of their demands met with regards to NL team building limits, fixtures to be run as double headers and so on..... That said with the reduced outlays required for double headers i can only see them increasing in the future to keep the sport viable. In fact if 'ghost' teams were allowed to return i can even see track shares becoming the norm in some places.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020
Sings4Speedway replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Its not just the amount of matches for Tero (and i don't believe any professional should be short of laps at this stage of the year) its the timing and availability of replacements. If as suggested there is a strong rider in the UK looking for rides and a rider in the team under performing and not contributing to the team then changes have to be strongly considered. No rider is bigger than any club and a positive message to loyal fans may be what is needed (plus wake up any others who have been off their game) -
Good solid away draw for Eastbourne and thats certainly early blood in terms of the overall league standings. Kent have issues to be resolved as Warren aside the others know the track and are under prepared/performing. Cousins had later notice into the team but Clouting and Ledwith cost Kent. Good tactical move to run Gilkes at 3 and will do wonders for his confidence. Shame the next home NL fixture isn't until the end of July.

Whatever the limits in the past new riders on 3.00 averages have been signed into teams. They have done so because they are the best available and bettered the others. With the lower limit it has become a necessity to have 3+ riders per team around this mark increasing the spaces available and ultimately dropping the overall standard. Those listed above have started well but they have also been against a lower level of competition than previous years. -

Stoneman is a gamble at the best of times especially at CL level but with no other league racing to keep him sharp it strikes me as highly unlikely. Id still wager it will be guests for a while then Knight. -

With a British passport i assume? I didn't say i wanted him out but i do feel he is under performing. He has access to top kit, knows belle vue well and as stated had a years experience. Many coming into teams without a year under thier belt have being better thus far -

Hats off to both McGurks definitely proving my doubts wrong. Expected more from Coles and both Rathbone and Macdonald need to up thier game or stop blocking places for others.
