  1. Its enough of a Joke now with Buster owning two teams in the same league. Make it "one big league" and Bates will have two teams as well. Buster didn't buy Peterborough just to allow one big league to happen a year or two later, there is a top flight elitism agenda at play. Of course several clubs could tire of all the nonsense gather together and form a breakaway league....how to best incentivise that i don't know? maybe allowing clubs to make their own decisions and use race nights that best suits their client base would be a good starting point.
  2. Great news and richly deserved given his current boost in form. I did worry that he was going a bit stale with his development but Leon has clearly upped something and its paying off big time.
  3. I believe Peterborough were going to be running but not in the league that Buster wanted them too.......
  4. But did Buster keep the top tier afloat because it was best for British speedway or because he wanted to keep his beloved Stars in the top flight? For reasons unknown to the greater world its fairly clear he is against one big league, north/south leagues or anything that that means his home team doesn't remain in the elite premiership or whatever other re-brand will come along.
  5. Whilst a daft decision by the council (really is no difference between a race on race night and practice on a race night) could Kent have not arranged a "challenge" match trialling a new format. Home riders take 6 rides each setting a time and couple of local juniors try and match it as opposition. Result may be obvious but "practice" laps achieved.
  6. Look at my later post as the rules have changed and i was out of date
  7. There aren't any but there are limited number 1s in the league anyway and they are grouped in 3 teams anyway. With Bridger gone and Proctor struggling badly two changes bringing strength in depth is the only route. Limited options still but Starke is going ok and Sam Jensen from Glasgow could be worth a punt?
  8. Apologies according to the rule book its now absent rider 1-3 by MA Guest or RR. In reality there are limited useful guests around Heeps average +5%. Summers & NBJ already riding, S Worrall has a match tomorrow, Kerr and Howarth injured. Rowe matches Thurs and Friday already. Im guessing cost plus limited options means RR and giving home riders extra laps is the preferred choice.
  9. Seems as unlikely as him getting the push from Sheffield. Only way Bates doesn't feature is if/when he hurts himself
  10. Be nice if Kings Lynn publicly apologised to the fans over the Bridger debacle. Every man and his dog knew he wouldn't last yet they still wasted money setting him up in the team with all the associated gear (money that quite frankly could have been better spent elsewhere) if you stand up and say we believe in this chump then Lings Lynn have to accept responsibility when it goes wrong
  11. Stupid rule that prevents guest when only one rider missing as you make a good point. Looks a tough night for Kent i fear. Oystercard and Jenson are in good form (disappointed i won't be going to see him), Cook is perking up and Nicol is certainly no slouch. For the Kings Nicholls is in up and down form, Starke is starting to perk up but Bacon's hurty shoulder must be a concern. I hope that there is some decent racing on show tonight and the track changes have been positive.
  12. Getting the pld tyres back will be far from easy as Mitas are not exactly pleased with being shown the door. Fortunately we have the new poorly tested tyres which are substantially more expensive than the outgoing Mitas so if double the amount are needed its a big expenditure and guess where those costs will end up being passed on to.......
  13. I wont go into the full maths of it but any league with team building under 42.5 will see natural increases in averages, building further below accelerates this. This years NDL has many riders that have been on the outside for a while but now as the team building numbers are low many on a 3 point average who have been often overlooked are now welcomed in. Now there could be a couple who grow and become surprise packages but many are now just competing with others at a lower level. In a couple of years the pickings for CL and PL teams will be slimmer, dads army teams more common and the sport in even more bother as a whole.
  14. Whilst i agree that is one of the leagues primary objectives creating a system where everyone ups thier average and therefore "improves" is like school sports days where everyone is a winner. What about the idea that riders have to be good enough first and then take the chances that come thier way? This all inclusive idea could produce a conveyor belt of riders under prepared for higher leagues and generate a far greater divide between the ability of UK riders vs the rest of the world.
  15. Quite likely much like id imagine Palin doesn't want to talk about the meeting much.
  16. At Berwick x1, at Leicester x4, at Newcastle x 8 (although 4 was same person). A rider making his Debut at Newcastle scored 5+3 just by staying aboard and picking up scraps. Im not saying there isn't racing and passes taking place because that isn't true but in the majority its because the lesser riders hop out of the start and then get passed by the better quality riders. Looking at next season these lesser quality riders will still be signed as 2nd strings and even 3rd heat leaders with new rookies coming in. Wind forward a year or two and the likes of Watson or Rothery could have averages that force them to be number 1's but will they have improved enough to be of similar standard to what Flint or Bickley are now? If yes then the system works but if the more likely no then there is an even poorer product attempting to be sold to the public.
  17. Bates "should" be destroying the averages but has been very poor thus far and being shown up by riders really grabbing the chance. Brennan has been unlucky not have more points and been very competitive and Rowe showing his class by opting out of the scheme and doing his own thing....certainly did Rob Lambert no harm
  18. Meeting of the two surprise packages with Berwick over achieving and Leicester under thus far. Was still a meeting of multiple fallers and two races in one. Faller stats from Newcastle are far worse. Dont forget that the reduced limit is only having a lesser effect this year, with inflated averages the league will be a whole lot worse next season.
  19. In the flesh no but what does that matter? If i hadnt seen Woffy ride in the flesh id still know he is a top level rider (i have obviously) all evidence ive seen is that his gating is below par and a track like Plymouth that spells trouble.
  20. Hope Gilkes gets a run out. Might be Drews home track but Anders and Dan are the riders in form
  21. Lynn finally sign the right rising star. Good Luck Connor, plenty of Proctors rides there to be taken
  22. Combine of both. Heard from a good source that his continental form from 2019 was patchy and U21 events competed in aren't full of points scored. Obviously that was 2 years ago so i do accept the chance to improve but all examples of races ive seen him in his gating isnt up to scratch. Might be tempted to have a look when Plymouth visit Eastbourne if he is still in the team at the end of July
