  1. He probably does, but I would be more convinced if he scored at least double figures on Saturday.
  2. That should mean that Troy Batchelor will be trying extremely hard to qualify in this years top 8 by having an excellent meeting in just 3 days time at Torun. Really looking forward to this Saturday.
  3. How much is 1.3m Zlotys in English money? Who is favourite to win the GP on Saturday.?? I can see Greg wrapping up the world title but not the GP. I see KK doing well in the GP, perhaps not the winner though. Is Hampel going to do a 21 pointer again?? I dont think so, too eratic with his performances since the last GP. Probably one of the "occasional" Polish riders.
  4. There was a fair bit of viewing time on tv recently from some championship diving from Kazan. I had to look where Kazan is, and its in southern Russia where 2015 world champions hip where Michael Phelps will not now be appearing. Swimming, and more so athletics, I reckon gets good viewing figures but not solid supporters. Speedway, on the other hand, is a team sport and therefore you get solid support from a person(s) for years and years, even if the team is doing badly.
  5. I read on speedwaygp.com that Chris Harris reckons he is the only one of the 15 regular gp racers this year not to have made a semi-final, and he wants to put that right this Ssaturday, even though Torun has not been kind to him in the past. Another reason I cant wait for it.
  6. I dont really see how you can be so sure of that.... sounds like you not too happy its going ahead. Too many doom and gloomers. I look forward to seeing the progress and finished project - more then just a speedway track remember.
  7. Really looking forward to the GP on Saturday in Torun. Yes their still is a chance for KK to overall Greg so a lot of interest there. BUT I think the fight for top 8 places will prove very interesting. There are 4 riders racing on Saturday going for place 7 and 8 so racing there should be some serious racing.. And of course a battle of pride lower down between Chris Harris (regular gp rider) only 2 points ahead of part-time gp rider MJJ - just 2 point between them. Should all be good stuff come Saturday.
  8. Michael Phelps was recently arrested for a drink-driving offence late September this year. He has now been suspended for 6 months from all competition. The ban will end 6th April 2015, but USA Swimming say Phelps will NOT be chosen to represent the US in the World Championship in August 2015. Phelps has won 22 Olympic medals, bit more success then Darcy Ward, yet no leniency shown, and of course being under the influence of alcohol whilst swimming does not pose a threat to other competitors (unless I am missing something)
  9. My claim to fame in grass track was that I could out gate both PC and Chris Morton. One race I was round the 2nd bend before PC passed me - mind you I didnt see him again until I was back in the pits.
  10. Think thats about how I would put it as well Gavan
  11. So Erik has won the world long track championship and has just turned, couple weeks ago, 19. Thats a BIG Wow!
  12. Yes, I would like to see Batch riding. Both he and harris were short on time to prepare but one has progressed as the year has gone on, but the other is already in next years series. Cant change that obviously but thats why Batch should be in, apart from him being a racer.
  13. Well he won the title but not the meeting. He got the important thing. Just cant think why he wont ride the world gp's. Surely he would get a wild card. Oh and its good to have the forum back in action.
  14. Surprised Hans Nielson not showing up in the 80's And nice to see Igor Plechanov rating well for the 70's. He didnt ride in UK too much, and the tricky Wembley track he got a hang of it real quick. Nice personality and still probably rates as the best Russian rider to grace a speedway track. 60's 1. Fundin 2. Briggs 3. Moore 4. Craven 5. knuttson 6. Mauger 70's 1.Mauger 2. Olsen 3. Collins. 4. Michanek. 5. Simmons 6. Jessup 80' Fallen away from speedway in the 80's and didnt keep my eye on things closely but up there would be Hans Nielson, Gunderson, Penhall
  15. You missed one out Gustix So my opinion is that we have to agree to disagree
  16. Quote- But he qualified on merit so why dont people just shut the ....up! Fact and Opinion in one sentance. I dont disagree with the fact "he qualified on merit", BUT I sure not going to listen to your opinion "why dont people just shut the ....up!" I cant dispute the fact but have my own opinion on your opinion So my opinion is that we have to agree to disagree on your opinions but not the facts.
  17. I wouldnt expect Tai to be riding in the UK next year. After 2 years at the top I think he will realise the body can only take so much.
  18. I agree with Ghostwalker Your posts sounds like its ok for you to voice your opinion, but not others. If there was only ever one opinion the forum would be very boring and sink like a brick. I am ok with opinions as long as they dont get too personal. The only part of your post I can agree with 100% is "I believe Harris will be outclassed again next season but dont mock the man for qualifying.
  19. Tend to agree with those that say not good racing, overall it was'nt.... but the occassion has to be taken into account, and that what made it a good meeting. Sure there was overtaking and some close finishes but it was the fact it was a gp that made the meeting palatable.
  20. Now that would have been a talking point - if a full time gp rider does all 12 gp's and scores less in total then someone who has only been in 4. Hang on, ..... I said "would have been a talking point", it actually could still be as one more gp to go and MJJ will probably be in it and he is just 4 points behind CH. Now who is likely to score more points at Torun. We wont have long to wait.
  21. Everyone except Tai and 3 others were in front of Chris Harris. He is a good rider, plenty of style and a fighting spirit... but why cant he just do an Hampel and show he would be an asset to next years gp's - I would love him to do that, seriously.
  22. Or did he mean Hans Nielsen - he was a good gater wasnt he?
