  1. I would generally agree that an ole timer who has had a good innings may just go on too long which may detract from all the good years. As for Greg, he is still top of the pile its still for the others to catch him. For a 44 year old I think he is doing amazingly well just to compete at the top level, never mind beating those half his age. Its the same with Valentino Rossi, I "worry" sometimes that he will push the years too much and really go off the boil, but basically this year he is the only one to take the challenge to Marquez, who has to be said is phenomenal, especially for his age - quiet exceptional.
  2. Where is Emil and the 2 brothers? Is there some history I need to catch up on?
  3. Quote:- To be fair, he had little chance, Zagar was up at him very quickly. It was the boot in the balls, and ride off that I found a tad naughty. NP was sat on his bike by the time Zagar got to him, he had plenty chance to get over to the fence to see how Zagar was, he could have just left his bike where it was. The thought was not in his head to go to Zagar
  4. It was a tweet from a bookmaker, they didnt pull it out of the air (unless they lying)
  5. No doubt in my mind that Batch was THE top man on the night.. Even in the final he was all over the back of NKI, much faster. Kildemand was probably 2nd best on the night, looks like he is built like a tank. He probably models himself on my fitness regime....ha ha. However, the rules say........ My predication was pretty way out. Must try harder.
  6. Haza, re Chris Harris. I agree with you that he must surely realise that his year is not going to get better, no matter how much he hypes himself up, and yes it must be costing a lot of money to compete at that level. I would much rather have had Chris Holder racing last night, but it shows by having the series first reserve racing, MJJ, that the championship series would be the richer for Harris pulling out. Even the wild card didnt just out perform him, but way out performed him. Cant see that he will jack it in though, and their are those who will say why should he, he qualified and thus entitled to be their, and they are not wrong, but......
  7. I thought it was a good meeting. Plenty to hold interest, as to whether Troy and Kildemand could keep it going - one did, the almost. Batchs overtake on NP was quite good too. As already said, the top guys in the points table were not on the ball tonight, NKI came through when it mattered though. Can Batch take a confidence boost through to Cardiff, or will the expectation he has to do well again get to him. Perhaps the Swindon fans who know him better could give an insight of what may happen. It was a tweet to the studio from a bookie that said his odds were 1000:1 Batch to win.
  8. Good win for NKI but just wish Batch could have done it. Track seemed to settle down and some good races. Cardiff here we come.
  9. Last 4 races Tai and Greg have had - Tai 4 Greg 0, yet they still so close on total points.
  10. Looks like the track rutting could spoil good racing. Not looking good.
  11. Great Central, what makes the original safety fences at Buxton and Rye House so good?
  12. Certainly got me worried for 2 weeks time. If an indoor meeting gets cancelled, Parken or Cardiff for example, cause the track not fit, could that be the end of temporary indoor tracks?
  13. Roll on 6pm (in the UK that is) and thank you in advance to Eurosport.
  14. I must of been one of those "guests" who only peered in. It was'nt by choice though. For the last 12 months I have been trying to join but could'nt, so many times I gave up until I had a yearning to contribute to what was being said but could'nt get to join again, and again. I was filling in the "joining form", answering the question etc but when I pressed the button to join I would get a message to say I would receive an email shortly, usually immediately..... but I never did. This happened every time, so often, so I was always a "guest". I even found an email address but never got replies. Then just couple weeks ago, I tried again, got the same messages, found another email to go to (cant even remember where I found it) and someone replied to say no reason I should not of got the emails, but he had "manually" joined me. So here I am. I did wish joining was easier/quicker.... and no, information coming back to me was not going into my email junk box cause I see all my emails on my providers server (so I can delete what I dont want before it hits my computer. I am not new to speedway, went from the late fifties to early eighties, went to Poland in '76 to see PC win at Katowice, raced cycle speedway in the mid/late 60's, rode a bit of club grass tracking in the early 70's, but not been for 30 years or more UNTIL last year, 2013. Picked up the speedway GP's on Eurosport and fell in love with it again. Went to Cardiff last year and going again in 2 weeks time. So whilst I know a bit about speedway, modern riders and teams are new to me, and the organisations behind the running of speedway confuse me. But if I stick it out on the forum I am sure it will come clearer. Joe
  15. I remember last year when we started looking, city centre hotels were very expensive on the Fri and the Sat night. We got a good b&b 20 miles outside of Cardiff at a reasonable rate for the Sat night then dropped into Cardiff for the Sunday night when prices had dropped. Doing the same this year, same 2 places, and then going on to Swansea for the Monday night, home Tuesday.
  16. Both Tai and Ward seem to be riding more sensibly of late, more mature. And this time last year Tai was carrying his (first) broken collarbone. At least he is injury free. I wonder how Kasprzak is feeling?
  17. I reckon Tai will be there in the last race of the night and to win it. Zagar could be there too. Outsider would be Smolinski - if he can get his gating back to how it was in NZealand
  18. Hi The White Knight - no doubt you were trying to help, just that their were a lot threads/posts. Thanks Alan jones for the link -everything just a bit clearer now. Ongoing "problem" by the sounds of it
  19. So I type in "silencers" in the search box and get trillions of threads (well, maybe not trillions but seems like a lot), which I dont fancy trawling through, so I will just live in ignorance for a bit longer till it pops up again.
  20. Just come back to speedway after many years away. Read in a post that there seems to be some controversy relating to silencers and they being dangerous (sure thats what it was saying) Whats the story on this?
  21. As far as Park & Ride goes, we parked on a large car perk near the Travel Lodge down near the Quay, I understand it was some council office car park. Cost £10 for the two of us to park and ride, probably a mile walk to stadium but you still need to park.
  22. Always so sad to hear someone losing their life doing something they enjoyed and giving us spectators pleasure too. Being away from speedway for 30 years or so, I started watching the GP's last year on Eurosport and was surprised and pleased to see the air fence. Tracks I knew were either boards or greyhound fencing, neither would I liked to have gone into. I did a spot of club grass tracking and was glad there was plenty of run offs.
  23. I agree that Jack B is a very good presenter for the Moto GP's as for speedway.... well it was obvious he was new to it and his comments sometimes were "funny", both peculiar and laughable. But his ignorance was'nt too bad a thing, for example, when there was a false start he was'nt too sure whether the rider was to be excluded or not.... so it went over to Sam for clarification. Any newbies to speedway would be learning along with Jack B. So positive in that sense, but I can see it would frustrate "those in the know"
  24. Thanks for that link Gustix. Yes I read the Nicki P one but then saw a link to Peter Williams who rode for Belle Vue in the fifties, just as I started going. I remember him, good to read that.
  25. Has'nt Craig Cook just qualified as #16 for the Cardiff GP. Does'nt that qualify him for a position in the GB team.
