  1. The difference between racing last night and most of this years GPs is clear. I have already wiped out most of this years GPs from my recorder, some straight after the meeting. Last nights SON has not been wiped out and will no doubt be viewed a number of times during the winter months. It doesn’t matter how many overtakes there was in a race, Denmark v Australia has been highlighted. There was a lot of very close racing. That race between Den and Aussie, for the first two laps you could throw a blanket over all four, for the last two laps you could throw a blanket over the first three. Wembley was a poor race track, a lot of races were spread out. For sure there was good races, but very few would have been like that Den v Aussie race, and others from last night. What made Wembley was the atmosphere, 70,000 plus fans made it a great night.
  2. With all the passing that happens at NSS, and having been an avid BV supporter since early 60’s/late 70’s, I rate NSS higher then the old Hyde Road. I not wanting to take anything away from Hyde Road, it was a brilliant track, but the NSS let’s more riders get into the action. If the land offered by Manchester Council had been bigger I have no doubt Chris Morton and partner would have built a copy of Hyde Road. The land offered is restrained so they designed a track with care and attention and came up with a fantastic raceway.
  3. Personally speaking, there was some very good racing tonight. I have seen more consistent better racing, but compared to some GP’s this year it was very good. Having said that, I hope someone else has a big say on track prep for tomorrows meeting.
  4. How come Phil Morris is in charge of track prep. Yes I know he is the travelling FIM clerk of the course, but why cannot he be humble enough to recognise some tracks have excellent staff preparing excellent racing tracks that don’t need him butting in. It’s as if he has to do something different to justify his existence.
  5. BBC weather forecast is similar to what R&R has posted. From early hours of Sunday morning until noon on Sunday there is a high chance of LIGHT rain, and light winds. For the rest of the afternoon, dark clouds (not rain). BV will be able to take light rain, no problem. Too many doomsayers on here.
  6. Maybe not the owner of the forum making a living, more like helping with the cost of running a forum. I don’t think they come free of costs, so a bit of income from adverts helps keep the forum running. I think it’s a case of adverts occasionally or each member of the forum make a financial contribution. Maybe a referendum is needed to sort adverts v contribution. A simple majority decides, no discussions for the next 20 years.
  7. That would be good. It’s a racers track but not too big.
  8. I hope so. Couldn’t see anything on Glasgows website, but perhaps they trying to sell seats before they release stream.
  9. If the Poles get a hiding its their fault, they should have put a stronger team up.
  10. Will this test match be available to pay and watch remotely as they did for the gp challenge qualifier.
  11. The score does not matter…. It’s the experience the uk riders will get that matters. They will be racing as a team for the first time for ages.
  12. I can’t blame them. Go where the money is. A speedway riders career is short enough, but at any time that could be shortened even more (ie Darcy Ward). And to be at the top and stay there, you need to be mixing it with the best. The meeting at BV last night showed that if the track is right the racing can be tops, the elderly riders proved that. British speedway, in the palace it is now, does not need the expensive top Brits. The top Brits can be seen on TV, You Tube etc. if they appeared in the uk are the younger fans going to flood to the stadium. No. British speedway has to move on and accept its at the bottom, and work from their. Everyone seems to moan British speedway is not a £20 per meeting sport, but wants to see top Brits racing, who is going to pay them.
  13. Weather looking good for this week including Friday and Saturday. Let’s up it doesn’t change for the worse.
  14. A bigger league surely means more meetings for the one club he rides for.
  15. Thank you Mark246. That seems a fair list. The only one perhaps missing is Kubera, but maybe he refused, nooner know. Nice to see an American in the list. Unlikely to get a meeting, but it sure will be a positive encouragement.
  16. So, who are the 2022 speedway go series reserves.?
  17. Earlier this week the wife put the electric fire on in the lounge. An hour later she had the windows open. Let’s say “I was not very happy”. We on Calor gas where I live. Todays post informs me it is going up by approx 5% in ten days time. I suspect this is just the start of energy price increases.
  18. So, if there was going to be no Brits racing at Cardiff do you think it would still attract 44000? I reckon there would be some even from this forum that would say they wouldn’t bother going. Wouldn’t bother me because I love GP racing, whoever it is, but I reckon it could bother others.
  19. Does F1 have the best drivers in the world? Each year it seems to be the same faces, until it gets to be the same “old” faces. No wild card picks, no GP Challenge qualifier. Of course we do see some new name has burst onto the scene…… but then you read their rich daddy has pumped millions into buying his son a team place. Imagine this forum going crazy each year of speedway was loke that.
  20. For a few years now they have had a reserved list of about six named riders. This covers for injury during the year, or as it was when Greg retired before the season start Smolinski got the ride as he was top of the series reserves.
  21. They use a school next door which is large. Whether it’s large enough to hold a SON crowd I don’t know, on that basis I would pay on line and be sure you got a spot.
