  1. That was poor, how long do you have to lie on the track before someone comes to help. Too long in that case
  2. Bewley did well to get through that and stay on, hope the other rider is ok. So Smektala is Roberts threat now.
  3. Robert done well, looks like main challenge will come from Maxims Drabik, but that's not unexpected. Dan on a steady start.
  4. Heat 20 looks very tasty Heat 1 would look tasty as well, except its heat 1, and usually gate to win. 1st corner should be interesting.
  5. Same public transport will get you there....its only a few hundred yards away (as you probably know)
  6. 2 of the tracks still exist - BV and Sheffield
  7. It was Manchester City Council that stumped up the money to build the stadium and for multiple use (so ratepayers money was used). That's why BV speedway had no control over the contractors when the mess on the 3rd and 4th turn happened. BV pay rent for the speedway. If I not correct some one more in the know will put me right, no problem
  8. Perhaps just as well Milik and Lebedevs are not in the GPs full time this year - as a lot were clamouring for late last year. Stepping up to GP is a big leap. 10 meetings where rider and bike have to be on top form is a big ask - especially for a "newcomer" to the series. Sure, they are spoilers this year, and I do hope some time in the near future one or both are in the GP series and competing at a top level. Solid rides from Lambert. He on a massive learning curve, so last night will have all soaked in a be used for future reference by him. Hope he keeps injury free. Emil seems to be a shadow of his former self. Hate to say that, but he just not riding like he used to. Ok he shows glimpses of what he used to be like, but he not gating, and his bikes seem slow. Hope he can pull it all together. When he was interviewed by Macelana (?) last night, his eyes lit up when she asked about his family. Nothing wrong with that, but I just wonder if his family life is affecting his riding.
  9. You either have a very good memory, or you keep all the programs. Well done
  10. Went to the Shay a few times during mid 60's to early 70's. When you walk into the stadium and take your first look at the steeped bend s it was a "whooo! look at that" and when you saw the races is what another "Whoo, look at that". I remember seeing a Polish team (cant remember whether a national team or a league team) Can remember Pogozelski and Edmund Migos. Pogo was a very tall rider whilst Edmund was a lot shorter. They loved the track, cant remember who won, but the Poles gave it a good go.
  11. Oh dear Lucifer Sam, quoting Tai saying that you set the ball going again. Tai told us the plan ie 5-1 or 4-2, in other words Robert to beat at least one of them, probably Emil as (somehow) he was the weakest link. And it nearly happened.....until Emil shot past up the inside on the 1st/2nd bend lap 1. Best laid plans can go wrong, and it did.
  12. Cor blimey - this thread is getting as bad as "European Union - In or Out" - keeps going round and round with the same arguments, same answers. Stop the world I want to get off!
  13. The way it was, with GB best under 21 rider at reserve, it gave GB the greatest flexability, Tai was likely to be riding well (but there again who would have thought Majic, Dudek, Emil would not have been at their best), Cook may have found his form, but in case either of them faltered (and Cook did) then GB had a on form reserve. The alternative suggested has been Tai and Lambert in the team with (under 21) Bewley at reserve. Had Tai or lambert had a poor day, or fell and injured (like Hukenberg) then would Dan be able to rise to the occasion? Lets face it, he is brilliant considering he not been riding too long, but at a senior world championship level - he would be very vulnerable. So, its my opinion, the team selection was correct, and the way the reserve was used was also correct.
  14. I would have thought on the lead up to an international event no one in the lead up to it, say 1 week, would be allowed any practice other then official practice. So good on Phil Morris if watering effectively "neutralized" the track, if indeed that was the case. No amount of track doctoring, whether beneficial to this team or that team, could excuse Poland have two warnings and an exclusion in heat 1. Anyway, some riders say they deem even official practice unnecessary. That's due, it is said, the track on race day is very often different to practice day. If that's the case there is no need for anyone to "spend hours on it" earlier in the week. I noticed on the Polish Friday meeting the riders came out to the "parade" on their bikes, whereas on the Saturday they walked out. So it seems the riders were even being stopped from even having a practice start.
  15. That about sums it up Daniel....its all about opinions, and not just re PC, PC, TW, its about mostly everything discussed on this forum, indeed any forum. Its a pity people cannot respect others opinion - discuss it yes, but soon after (or sometimes sooner then soon after) the abuse starts. Shame really, maybe turns a lot of potential posters off. Just my opinion
  16. I stick by what I said in the above post. In my mind, and sadly that's all its is, Tai and Rob were the Best Pair. They were the ones that consistently tried their best to team ride, and to a great extent it worked. Well done. All the other teams seemed as if they were individuals and rode as such. Some not even looking behind at any time (except in the run up to the checkured flag) at all, which was silly because there many the time they could have helped their team mate. True Russia did a little bit of team riding, not a lot. An amazing 2 day final. So many world class quality riders yet there were only 3 or 4 that really shone. Lindback we know can beat anyone when hes firing on all cylinders, but sadly not in this competition. Freddie was a bit below what we used to this last 18 months. Emil is a shadow of his former form, but Artum hit the heights. The rest all failed consistency. Germany rode very well, Smolinski on Friday was a shock, and Hukenberg on Sat did really well and kept the opposition on their toes. In the end, the gold didn't go to GB. Sad, because they deserved it, but good to see Russia has now won a world speedway gold - first time ever.
  17. Whichever team tonight wins the final race will be the official Speedway of Nations champions. Whichever team ends up tonight with the highest number of points (over the 2 meetings ie 42 races) will be world champions IN MY MIND. Totally against the final 2 races, just a nonsense, especially if a team finishes 2nd and 3rd in the final race being declared winners. That's complete nonsense.
  18. After a bit of a slow start (how often do we see that) it turned into a very good meeting with some close exciting racing. GB in a good position I think for a medal and it could even be Gold. It all depends on how Poland, Sweden, Aus and Russia respond tomorrow - and I think they will. Lambert seems to have matured a lot over the winter, at last he has got his gating sorted. Good show from TW, showing the type of form he had in 2013 - looking so easy. Well done.
