  1. PK was still riding on a regular basis. Always a big risk to bring Skornicki back after doing so little racing since 2014.
  2. Certainly could be forgiven for thinking Skornicki was riding as if he's already been told he's out the door
  3. Thorssell is poor value on 9.89. He's completely reliant on gating and can't perform on the road, despite racing here for 5 seasons. He's simply not as good as the Wolves management and some fans think he is.
  4. Bottom line is that we have problems all across the board. With weak reserves, we're in a position where we will go into a good seven or eight heats where the best we can hope for is a shared heat. If you have heat leaders and second strings not delivering it simply makes matters worse. Our reserves haven't been just poor - they've barely competed. In affect, we are trying to win matches with a 4 or 5 man team. You simply won't win many matches like that. We got away with it last night because Leicester contrived to throw away a meeting they should have won comfortably.
  5. Adam was excellent on Saturday, but was very poor tonight - not that he was alone.
  6. The racing was pretty much a premium compared to the Poole meeting last week and Saturday at Rye, but the close scoreline kept it interesting. Did see quite a few Leicester fans (certainly more than the last few times). Would add to New Science's comment by saying that the decision to pull heat 11 back was a joke. Nilsson tried to get a roller and messed up, yet the race is pulled back.
  7. Wow. We got out of jail big style tonight. Crazy from Lynch to not put Bates in heat 14 and then choosing King for the last heat. Leicester really threw the win away
  8. Adam was very much on the pace and did what was asked of him.
  9. I still remain unconvinced by Thorssell. His away for has always been a concern and is still very reliant on his gating. He's been here for 5 years now and neither have improved much
  10. Howarth has really impressed me tonight. Less said about our reserves the better.
  11. He isn't rubbish, but certainly not as good on the road as at Monmore.
  12. Not particularly shocked by that scoreline. Don't see many away wins this season. Team is far too weak at reserve and Thorssell away from Monmore isn't as potent
  13. Could hear all that and Porky fine. But couldn't hear any heat times or changes until after the interval. Loads of people around me commented
  14. To be fair the PA outside was so bad in the first part of the meeting then you wouldn't have been able to hear any announcements even if it was made. I stand on the last bend and could barely hear a thing from the box. A real mixture of a meeting. The first five or six heats were pretty dull and the long delays between didn't help. The turning point seemed to be Freddies ruthless move on Kurtz. After than, we saw some terrific action. However, we certainly need to improve our gating when the league action starts. Other than Thorssell (who was exceptional) Poole were far better out of the start.
  15. In Brum at the moment and has persisted it down all morning. Suspect practice may be in doubt
  16. Bradford never had brilliant crowds in the 80s and 90s - though the size of the stadium made it more obvious. And this wasn't a club that constantly finis bottom either. They were always a good cup side, won a league championship and had some very good riders as well. A shame as it was quality track, especially for big meetings
  17. It's dog eat dog. BT are only doing to Sky what Sky did to terrestrial channels years ago and cherry picking the best sport.
  18. Did list Milton Keynes, but missed off list so have added now. Am going only from 1990
  19. I'd trust satan before I trusted Sandhu or Horton.
  20. Added it now. St Austell would be under Trelawny
  21. Just been having a quick look through Homes of British Speedway and am taken aback to discover that since I started watching in Speedway in 1990, 27 clubs have closed either permanently or temporarily. That's an average of one track each season, with some very illustrious names on the list. Hackney (1991) Re-opened 1995 and closed again in 1996. NOT RUNNING Wimbledon (1991) Re-opened 2002 and closed again in 2005. NOT RUNNING Mildenhall (1992) Re-opened 1994. RUNNING Milton Keynes (1992). NOT RUNNING Stoke (1992) Re-opened 1994. RUNNING Rye House (1993) Re-opened 2001. RUNNING Newcastle (1994). Re-opened 1997. RUNNING Cradley (1995). Re-opened 2010. RUNNING Edinburgh (1995). Re-opened 1997. RUNNING Kings Lynn (1995). Re-opened 1997. RUNNING Middlesbrough (1996) Re-opened as Redcar 2006. RUNNING Bradford (1997) NOT RUNNING Skegness (1997) Re-opened, but closed again 1998 (NOT RUNNING). Long Eaton (1998) NOT RUNNING Linglithgow (2000) NOT RUNNING St Austell (2003) NOT RUNNING Camarthen (2004) NOT RUNNING Hull (2004) NOT RUNNING Exeter (2005) NOT RUNNING Sittingbourne (2006) Re-opened 2013. RUNNING Oxford (2007) NOT RUNNING Reading (2008). NOT RUNNING Weymouth (2010) NOT RUNNING Newport (2012) NOT RUNNING IOW (2013) Re-opened in 2016. RUNNING Birmingham (2014) Re-opened 2015. RUNNING Coventry (2017) NOT RUNNING
  22. Sandhu has been very clever over the years. He's convinced so many Coventry fans that he loves the club, yet he conveniently forgets he bought Brandon to knock it down, then hastened the clubs demise by trashing the place. Mick Horton is not perfect, we all know that, but he had a thankless and almost impossible job.
  23. What a shambolic way for one of Britain's most iconic clubs to come to an end. Hopefully they will be back in 2018, but I won't hold my breath. Well done messers Sandhu, Horton and Brandon Estates. Years of history killed by a childish game of brinkmanship which went too far.
  24. Had my doubts, but very pleased to be proved wrong. Belle Vue have to make the most of a second chance they are extremely fortune to have been given. Looking forward to visiting on Good Friday!
  25. Given the apparent level of debt run up, Belle vue are very fortunate to be coming to the tapes this year. Other sports may have seen them kicked out of the league.
