  1. To be fair we've a 7 team league for the last two seasons with long spells of good weather, and clubs have STILL had to go on a mad dash to cram all the dates in!
  2. Neither will they want St John's crews spending a couple of hours at the local speedway track when its likely to be all hands to the pump. As you say, it probably will be taken out of the BSPA's hands anyway.
  3. BRITISH SPEEDWAY STATEMENT: CORONAVIRUS UDPDATE Friday March 13, 2020 A NEW season of British Speedway will start as planned this weekend. The British Speedway Promoters’ Association can confirm there are no plans to cancel, postpone or otherwise change the running of our fixtures at this moment in time. We are closely monitoring the situation and it is business as usual following the information broadcast by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday afternoon. As an association we will continue to work from the advice handed down by the government regarding the ongoing situation. We would urge all riders, staff and supporters to continue to adhere by the advice regarding frequent washing of hands in soap and water and avoiding contact with anyone who has a fever or cough. We also remind people of the government advice regarding even mild symptoms, if you feel this is the case please stay at home for seven days. In the meantime, we look forward to a successful staging of the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund meeting at Scunthorpe on Saturday and hope substantial funds are raised for this most worthwhile cause. 4. No way could speedway get by running meetings in front of empty stadiums. They simply dont have the income from elsewhere to cover the costs
  5. What horrible news to find. RIP Danny. A great character and entertaining rider taken far too soon.
  6. Given the massive losses incurred by the NSS, I would have thought having the stox there for the extra revenue would be a no brainer?
  7. No thanks. Messed the club round in 2014
  8. Ole Olsens was the best one I think. Spoke very passionately about British speedway and was scathing about Tai not racing in the UK. The Correy/Ermolenko one was pretty good too
  9. The Hans Nielsen one was organized at the last minute in fairness (about 2 weeks before I think). Certainly would have been better attended with more notice
  10. Never seemed completely at ease at Monmore, so will have to improve on that next season.
  11. This whole situation sums up the whole "fly by the seat of their pants" attitude of British speedway. If Poole drop down, the BSPA will scramble and try and coax some teams up from the Championship to make the numbers. While they continue to desperately prop up the league. Its short-term, quick fixes all the time, which you can only get away with for so long
  12. Kyle Howarth the only Wolf who can hold his head up high tonight, as can Luke Becker last night. Other than that, one of the worst performances I've seen from a Wolves team in a big meeting in 30 years.
  13. Swindon are a good side and you can only beat what's in front of you. However Wolves have offered little resistance
  14. I'll never understand why these promoters continue to play dangerous games by having gaps in the fixtures in the Summer before making a mad dash to cram them all into September and October when the weather starts to turn for the worse.
  15. Cant see the conditions making much difference. Been watching Wolves for nearly 30 years and I've never known us be strong on a wet track
  16. All totally irrelevant if what people go to speedway for - the racing - is utter garbage.
  17. It really was. You can count the number of good Cardiff meetings using the fingers on one hand. The place needs binning
  18. Utterly pointless if the racing -which is what speedway is all about - is boring. Cardiff should have been binned years ago.
  19. Bonus point system had good and bad points. It would give you an extra heat if the aggregate was tied (the legendary Mikael Karlsson-Ryan Sullivan run off at Peterborough springs to mind), but one team thumping the other both home and away rendered it meaningless. There again, speedway has much bigger issues that wont be solved by changing the scoring system.
  20. Wow. That "statement " tells you all you need to know about British Speedway. "This is what's happening" "Why?" "Because we said so". No explanation. No reasoning. Just contempt for the paying public.
  21. Been a few years since I went to Peterborough. What happened to the centre"green"?
