  1. No doubt older Wolves fans best memory of the place was the infamous sit-in of 1985.
  2. Racing was virtually non existent. It's great that the teams winning, but that's not enough for me. I want to see some entertainment and we're not getting it at Monmore Green any more.
  3. Need to sort 3rd and 4th bend out. Riders struggling to stop on getting good round so far.
  4. The crowds at Wolves have definitely dropped in the last 5 or 6 years. Something the promoter denied at last winters forum as "the books suggested otherwise".
  5. Might as well move it back to the dog track. Belle Vue should have stopped there rather than waste money on a venue they can't even use.
  6. Think the weather might save Rye tonight. Absolutely hammering it down in Birmingham now.
  7. I fear this is going to become a problem at Monmore this season with us and Cradley sharing Mondays. Can see some double headers on the horizon. Looking at mid April before first home meeting for Wolves now.
  8. Can only see a rain off tomorrow. Forecast is awful.
  9. In fairness the win at Lakeside was pretty fortune as we managed to ambush them in the big heats and also when Karlsson was riding well. This was a much more convincing display tonight. Early days of course, but it's a good start.
  10. I've no doubt it'll be a fantastic facility Phil. However, if they can't get the track sorted out then it will be wasted. There's only so long before people will start to ask some serious questions.
  11. What a farce of a speedway club Belle Vue really are. Nine years and seven million pounds totally wasted by the looks of it.
  12. Has he said on what basis "we wont be going" They've now changed the story to say it MAY be one. But the comment was "We won't be going on Friday, but they are still coming to us on Tuesday".
  13. Am I the only one interpreting CVS remarks in the express and star as suggesting that Wolves may refuse to ride on Friday if Belle Vue can get the track sorted? "We won't be going on Friday" is the comment in the report.
  14. What a farce of a sport this really is. No wonder people get fed up when different clubs confirm different things.
  15. Very sorry to hear this. Have heard good things about the Plymouth track and I hope they can be revived soon. With the Belle Vue fiasco and now this, i ts a nightmare start to the season.
  16. I think when people have forked out so much money to attend the most publicised speedway event in this country since Cardiff in 2001, only to not see what happened, then they're entitled to be a bit miffed. The promotion screwed up by allowing people in to the stadium even though there were doubts about the track. The same promotion team who have a track record when it comes to dropping clangers.
  17. It's not ignorance to suggest that a facility that's had 7 million spent on it should be ready in time for its first meeting. It's not as if it's been knocked up the last few days. They've spent over a year building the thing.
  18. I hope your right, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I've been stung in the past by Belle Vue's incompetence when the Good Friday meeting was called off for an unfit track four years ago. Any doubts about the track should have led to the meeting being put back. Yes people would still have been unhappy, but I bet not half as angry as they were last night. Belle Vue had a big chance to show the sport in a positive light yesterday. A chance to show that there was a glimmer of hope for the sport in this country. Yet they blew it big time. As I say, you can build as many fantastic stands and hospitality areas as you like, but if the tracks rubbish, then they have wasted the last nine years and should have stopped where they were.
  19. All totally pointless if they can't get the track right. Otherwise staying at the old stadium would have been the better option.
  20. Certainly having second thoughts about coming up on Good Friday now. If this is what Belle Vue have to offer at this so-called fantastic new stadium then they may as well have stayed at the Dog track.
  21. Americans have been known to be wrong before.....
  22. There never really seemed a big effort by Wolves to publicise the British final if I'm honest Have to say I think the larger Belle Vue track will be much better suited. One of the reasons I disliked the meeting being at Wolves was being there after 11pm still waiting for a result. I want to be at home by that time.
  23. Sam used to do it at Dudley Wood as well on the pits bend. We used to refer to it as "Sams Bend", it happened that often.
  24. I remember Morton Andersen wiping Mikael Karlsson out at Cradley in 93.
