Kent Vs Eastbourne Monday 17th August 6:30pm
Countershaftcounter replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Lambert, Ellis, BWD and now the Spiller brothers. What have they all got in common ? Their skills were all perfected outside the uk. It does make you wonder that our lack of investment in young Brits and the lack of willingness / coordination on behalf of the BSPA in training etc it's no wonder we have a lack of riders on the world stage and lack of recognition in the media in this country. -
Nepotism ?? not in my family

I said in the build up. After what I witnessed last night they could hardly NOT mention him. -

Great meeting last night, fully deserved win from Ellis, not all from the gate and with some great overtaking moves, I love the fact that despite all the build up on the Heathens website/ Facebook page etc they go out of their way not to mention Adam, ( although he was one of the pre match favourites). even one of their regular Facebook contributors goes out of his way to mention that Ellis is "far too good for the NL" at EVERY possible opportunity… funnily enough he doesn't say the same thing about Clegg ? I chatted to Adam after the meeting and found him a very polite approachable young man, shame he and other british riders don't get some of the backing thrown at mediocre foreigners. All in all a great nights racing with a large crowd, I enjoyed it immensely , and no big crashes ! -

If only the money / engines / vans / mechanics thrown at average foreigners was used to help young British riders, we wouldn't need threads such as this. -

That Darcy award bloke, he's a bit good, he keeps winning races. Let's kick him out of the EL as he's obviously learned all he's gonna learn from English speedway ? I wonder if people would still be saying this about Adam if the Brummies aren't winning ? Let's ban Tom and Zack while we're at it -
Can We Get Back To Normal Now

Can we have a Darcy / Robert Lambert love in thread ? That'd keep most people off the normal forums -
Just imagine if promotors had some foresight and actually promoted Just imagine if PL clubs had to have at least 4 Brits Just imagine if the money thrown at mediocre foreigners was channeled into developing aforementioned Brits Just imagine if the tracks were better prepared Just imagine if promotors realised the potential of social media Just imagine if the rule book was sensibly revamped Just imagine if it was marketed as an extreme sport, attracting a new generation of fans Just imagine if some thought went into making presentation / facilities Feel free to add, just feeling a bit melancholy and wondering where our great sport is going so wrong

What Is The Situation With Wilson-dean?
Countershaftcounter replied to Filth's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Everyone's getting extremely overexcited about him, he's clearing up a bit in the NL but is untried at any other level. He'll be lauded as the next big thing and tons of pressure will be put on him . Why not just let the lad enjoy his racing and see how it goes eh ? we've all been here before. -

I think you're confusing speedway with a professional sport. All very well in theory but you have to think of the " we couldn't possibly put a lick of paint in the toilets" promoters who baulk at dragging our beloved sport into the 20th century , let alone the 21st. That kind of stuff costs money, money that they can't afford. I mean, who's gonna pay the flights for the foreign journeymen eh ? If we don't have Hans / Zdenek / Pioter / Nikki / (insert random US - Aussie name here ) , the fans won't come Now where's my Showaddywaddy 45 and woodbines ?
