Are There Any Characters Within The Sport Anymore?
SCB replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You're going to have to explain this one to me. I'll explain my thinking to you. Someone posted on here that rider that were considered characters in the past would be slagged off these days, I simply pointed out that Billy Janniro was considered a character fairly recently (as in the last 10 years) for his drinking and womanising amongst other things. He managed to do it without causing offence and most people seemed to like him. So the suggestion you can't do these things and be a character is wrong. I've not mentioned Billy Janniro for ages, so I'm not sure where else I have mentioned the "same thing" and it certainly wasn't a dig as I was a huge fan of Billys. Seems I was right not to hold out for that apology, says quite a lot about you. He allegedly did many times. Although there was one slightly more high profile time where a girl denied it after initially claiming it happened And I'm sure they're not exactly in his fan club - but I'm sure that true of many Aussie and American riders over the years. -

TBH, if Poland want to use Hampel, GB use Woffy, America use Greg etc so what? Riders get 5 programmed rides, do the same with the reserves, max of 5 rides, any 5 rides. Can be the last 5 rides if you chose that, end with a bang. But no jokers from the reserve -
Oh the BSPA are having a good go at taking all the wackiest, weirdest and generally most stupid ideas and making it up!

Sorry, what? I some people are suggesting you can't be a character without condemnation, I pointed out Billy Janniro managed it. I won't hold my breath awaiting an apology for an unnecessary attack that makes no sense at all as I'd only made the single post on the thread. -

You can still like a drink and woman and be a character though. Billy Janniro managed it. Loved at Coventry, he was certainly a character but he never turned up drunk or got arrested for taking drugs. -
Typical Lakeside, boring and dull

Someone really needs to sort out IOWs branding and marketing. They have a terrible website and an even worse logo.
-
He is tier 2. Worrall is Belle Vues tier 1 rider, anyone in tier not selected as a tier 1 riders automatically becomes a tier 2 rider.
-
I missing this unreliable thing. He did walk out on Somerset about 7 years ago. But other than that.... Plus I'd rather a rider who turned up half the time and averages 6 than a rider who rides ever meeting and averages 4. The one who averages 6 will win you things. Yet despite his one bike held together with elastic bands still averages more than every other tier 2 rider did in the PL last season. Which makes him the best tier 2 rider. Maybe the riders not as good as him should make sure their bikes are held together with elastic bands as they clearly make Steve faster than them! He got that higher average riding in the 1-5 unlike most of the tier 2 draft riders who got their averages in the reserve berths in the PL.

Press the left hand shift key and "a", when you hear (not see!) the tapes go up release both. If the bike lifts too much going into the corner press the a key to learn forward.

Better than a rider who started on 8.94 and ended on 6.1!!

Some people seem to confuse good gater with gating tart. Tony Rickardsson was a brilliant gater but anyone calling him a gating tart is deluded as he was also one of the best racers I've ever seen when he had to do it. A gating tart is someone who if they don't gate finishes in the position they gated in (or worse) not someone who can gate well. Todd Wiltshire is another, superb gater but if he did miss the start he could race.

2016 Swc Semi's And Final 29/30/july 2016

TBF they're pricing it to encourage people to attend both. If you do that it works out pretty good value. -
Yes he will. The rider from the "heat leader list" don't have to ride as heat leaders. Hans will almost certainly be the same for Poole
-
Boxall is a better rider than Stef. Swindon have done you a favour! Stef has never been anything more than a PL reserve (doubt hes ever had a meeting in the 1-5) while Boxall even in a bad year is a PL second string who averages just shy of 6.

After spending a few hours playing it seems ok. But it's not a £20 game, it's more of a gimmic game worth about £5. I'd save your money people, it's just not worth it.
-
With Garrity and Bates riding for the same two teams but 1 being owned by each it makes sense for Coventry and Sheffield to work together to ensure there are no clashes. Lets see if they can manage it.
-
It's true to life. Playing as Chris Harris, I dropped the clutch and he sat still for 10 minutes. Seems it doesn't work!
-
Neither would fit. They'd have 4.17 left for the last rider if Howarth signs but Rich Hall 4.04 has been announced as reserve. So I'll go with Dimitri Berge.

Howarth and.....

KK has been sacked 3 times in 12 years. Bech has been sacked once in 3. You might want to worry about your own riders getting sacked for "taking advantage" (to quote Jon Cook)

When you think starman cannot be more wrong about something, he manages to be more wrong than the man who pressed the override button at Chernobyl.
-
You'd think someone who watched Lindgren pootle around for a 6 point average would be keeping quiet about KKs failings!

It's nothing to do with "the top boys". And you claim we're missing the point. I've also told you many times whos fault it is. I've also explained how to solve it!
