  1. There you go speedway fans, you need Sky Sports for EL racing, Eurosport for Swedish Speedway and BT Sport for the GPs and SWC. Isn't having all these extra sports channels great for variety and choice?!
  2. If Cooks worth 40k then Coventry should be selling AJ and Nicholls for a combined 100k
  3. Neil posted on facebook yesterday evening that it was 2 double uppers in the 1-5. This makes far more sense.
  4. Sandhu has always been a money man. But there was a time he was happy to play speedway. Then he was fecked over because some people didn't like him and what he was achieving. Some of us said at the time that the 2010/11 rubbish was going to lead to the closure of Coventry. I hope those involved that winter are feeling proud of themselves now.
  5. LOW?! LOW?! It's so high that every fan in the country is including Doyle in their team to take up points!
  6. I don't notice David Hammond which suggest he does a good job as he doesn't annoy me!
  7. Which is how it should be as the guy top of the averages really. But it also shows the points limit is too high if every team can fit in the guy top of the averages without too much effort!
  8. Amazing. Someone has already answered why Blunsdon. For someone who has a go at other posters for not reading posts you ignore an awful lot. I'll try and help you. The new stadium is being built in a place called Blunsdon so it will be reasonable to refer to it as Blunsdon. Blunsdon is in Swindon so they'll also be able to keep the name Swindon too. Spooky eh?!
  9. Youd think one of them would have piped up and suggested this was a stupid idea. It seems they all missed it. Which makes you wonder what the point is of having so many many managers/promoters. Just a tad aimed at our management though. The same ones who let last season go down the swanny when they failed to sign a decent rider.
  10. Oh God yes! We got lucky with that one. Protecting the worst tier 1 rider. Result. Well done to the Coventry management!!
  11. Rose is from Berkshire. He probably rode at his local track last season.
  12. Doesn't he have a press officer who can do that for him?
  13. Exactly. It's bloody madness. It then meant we get first pick for round two and we picked a rider some way off the top in Bates. Why not Starke, Ellis or Nielsen?!
  14. It was rumoured that Barker and Worrall were in tier 1 for a start and they've not been announced yet! I'm guessing one of them is Lakesides backup. Nobody has announced Simon Lambert yet and he was on tier 1 too.
  15. You don't have to feel sorry for Coventry. You just have to question why a club that seems to have more managers and promoters than the rest of the EL combined has managed to screw up so badly!
  16. Have to agree with that. Anyone who average 11.83(?) in the old format would probably get 11 in any format. The guy was clearly a machine at that time.
  17. Tai Woffinden was reigning World Champion in 2014 but he still only averaged a little over 7. Why could Ivan not be the same?
  18. Why? His PL average is lower than Starke, Bates and Lambert.
  19. Which is odd. Swindon seem to have allowed Leciester to pick ahead of them then and get Starke. How the hell have Leicester with the best tier 1 rider by PL average been able to get Starke? Odd move from Rosco/Swindon on the face of it.
  20. They're both decent rider who will no doubt go on to be very good riders. But what use is that to a club that doesn't have a home in 2017? We need riders for the here and now!
  21. Spot on! But again BV they have Stef who is the same level as both our reserves, Leicester have Starke, Poole have Ellis. We're going to be 4-2'd and 5-1'd by them teams! Then when we ride against Swindon they'll just used Charles Wright in one of the #7s rides to get an extra point. You HAVE to have a good reserve. If you can't do that you need a very good top end and we're not going to get one of them either!
  22. Troy Batchelor won the 2014 ELRC and score 20 out of 21 point in a GP. Truly World Class in 2014. When people look back in years to come they'll be amazed to think we all consider him a pretty ordinary rider
  23. Presenters/announcers who were borns in the the 70s and 80s for a start, rather than presenters in their 70s and 80s! You're going to struggle to attract a crowd if your presenters is some old bugger. I cite the case of Ken Welch at BV. I remember a meeting where he "explained" Coventry had R/R at number 4 which means "each of the other Coventry riders can take a ride each" (not true) and then made a pigs ear of trying to explain later why one of the reserves was taking 2 of the rides! He then tried to explain the TR, he explains that the BV rider (I forget who now) would get double points if he beat a Coventry rider. When Morten Risager was excluded and Martin Smolinski won the race he explained it remained a 3-3 as the TR rider had not beat a Coventry rider. Only to have to correct himself minutes later. I had often critisized Ken and people come up with the "He's forgotten more about speedway than you'll ever know" which is fine, until he start forgetting that seasons rules! He also always sounded like he was being made to work at gun point and couldn't wait to go home, he never had any excitement in him. It's not a job I couldn't do, I have all the charisma of a wet fart. But speedway is terrible at keeping old folk in the announcers box. Another thing is you see a great race, the crowd go wild, they're all excited and can't wait for the next race. Then you have a 10 minute break for track grading and they start playing some easy listening music that calms everyone down. The music should constantly be fast and upbeat - it can be old or new, it doesn't have to be music that I like, but if keeping people excited its much better than what some clubs play! Most people won't actually notice the music but it still has to be right. edit - older people can do a good job tbf. Bob Radford who is quite a bit older than myself has always been good at it IMO. So maybe I'm being harsh moaner about older people presenting/announcing. but the thing with Bob is he retired while he was still good (but for the odd meeting) and didn't linger on tainting his legacy.
  24. But Penhall won 2 of 3 World finals. Does Hancock have a 66% sucess rate in the GPs? I guess it comes down to what you consider best. Are we talking the best on the that one day when they rode the best they had ever raced? Their best season? Or streched over 5 years? Or a whole career? For example, Danish GP last year. Batchelor was amazing. On that one meeting alone you've probably got one of the top 15 meetings ridden by anyone of all time. But over the season he was just ordinary and over a career a bit less than that. Over their whole careers Penhall for me by a long way. I can't comment on based no best ever meeting but I've certainly seen Greg ride like a man possessed at times and look like he could ride 100 times and not be beaten (the last GP and the GP last year where Puk wiped him out) as for longevity, then Hancock surely goes down as best ever, he must have the longest time span between World Titles?
  25. The fact he wasn't in the original draft is because he had average more than 3 in the EL the season before. in reality, the BSPA could have and probably should have included him in the draft then. I see no problem with allowing the current British Under 21 Champion into a draft to bring on young Brits! It would be mad to not help him but to pander to and include lesser riders who stand no chance what so ever of ever making it!
