Why Was Wembley Better Than Cardiff?.
SCB replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But if you win a World title without winning a GP that suggests the guys winning the GPs must have been crap in a few rounds to negate there successful rounds. So are we in a world championship looking for the guy who's the best on a given day? The rider who on any random day is the best? Or the rider who on a bad day is still better than anyone else on a bad day? It's often said in other sports with world championship rounds that the title winning found isn't the day the riders blitzed to a win but when they grind a result out of a bad day. Probably what Woffy did yesterday. -
But if Harris had not sat behind his team mate and helped them out he could have got his average up and scored more but his team mate would have scored less this no benefit to the team. While guesting I'm sure if Rosco asks him too he's barge his team mate out the way to score 1 more point for himself! Bonus point averages are a better indicator of a riders a worth go his team. Anyway, using 2015 figures, Nick Morris 7.08 and Chris Harris 7.27. It's only using rolling averages that Nick is higher due to his 6 meetings as a second string at the end of 2014
-
With bonus points Chris Harris is 0.7 higher than Morris this season.

I've not given an opinion of my own. I simply pointed out that it's been connected on a fair few times this year that Josh's has been dirty and made some rather harsh moves. Now onto my opinion, having seen the crash from last weekend it was reckless. I also don't see how stating someone is dirty is disrespectful. If you cause an accidents on the road and kill someone the police will arrest you for dangerous driving - is that disrespectful? Of course not if its deserves. It's all well and good Josh being upset but maybe he needs to calm his riding down a bit?! -

Josh is getting himself a reputation. It's been commented on a few times this year hie his riding is dirty. -

As a GP it started about as badly as a speedway meeting can starts but the 2nd half was pretty damn good. Heat 11 was brilliant and both semis were about as good as speedway gets. Kildemand added to the night from being to end - be it his super stylish wins or his crashing/falling off. If you asked me to list my to 8 GP riders I'd take todays top 8, drop out Kildemand and add Harris so was quite happy with the semis. And I had money on Kildemand should was happy he won. But as a fan of fair play, how the hell was he not excluded in both incidents?! -
but if you have a load of heat leader in squads and not riding you have just taken 12ish heatleaders out of the league. So you weaken every meeting.
-
TBF I'm not sure what the solution is to that one. Some will say squads but you'd be replacing heatleaders with NL riders and people would say they're not paying to see weak teams.

So Peterborough had to keep Ostergaard (Wells as guest) at number 2 at Edinburgh last night and keep r/r for Grondal at 5. Odd. Surely the BSPA should have allowed them to swap it around?! -
Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
SCB replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
But the weather is a genuine worry. And the season has to be planned to end sooner this year because there is a GP at the end of the year in Australia. Hardly ideal to have the play-offs with riders missing due to the GP. -
Why Was Wembley Better Than Cardiff?.
SCB replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Because within a month of Egon Mullers title win he rode in Ole Olsens farewell that was basically the World Final field and he performed terribly. Had that been a GP he'd have ruined any chance he had of being Champion. He was no doubt a very good rider but very few people consider him to have been the best rider in the World, which is what a World Champion should be. -
Lambert does not have a British/ACU licence, it's why he could not do the GP qualifiers, the U21s and why the ACU tried to stop him riding at Cardiff.

TBF, as a relative youngster, I must admit, I'd love to go to a one of World Final. The idea that you don't know who is going to be World Champion until the last 4 heats of the night but at the start of the night technically any one of 16 can win it must have been brilliant. But I do think the GPs give a fairer World Champion. We'll never have another Muller or Szczakiel. -
Back when that nice man Jimmy Saville used to fix it for kids? And they built things out of that ultramodern, truely innovative material asbestos and it was perfectly acceptably to have 5 pints before driving. Yes, everything back in the 60s and 70s was better and we should go back to them days. Things move on. Thank God! But speedway just seems to refuse to.

Premier League Riders Championship - Sheffield 6th Sep
SCB replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He'll bottle the final. Probably a good bet for 4th! -
There are 26 doubling up riders in the EL. There are 19 riders on a 6.5+ average. My suggestion of 70 was vastly over estimated above. But 45 riders need to be found. That's 45 NL riders, 45 NL riders who are not already riding PL or EL draft. So you're talking having any rider with a NL average of 4 or more, and you're assuming the likes of Armstrong and Atkins want to be in this big league. You've also forced Danny King, Robert Lambert and Chris Harris out of British speedway. In fact you've forced Danny out of the sport as he only rides in the UK. There are not enough riders for one big league. So it cannot be done. It also does not solve anything. What problem have you fixed by having one big league?
-
So you kick out the "elite of the Elite" leaving you with only the double uppers. So you now have to find 70 riders. You don't want to the Elite riders, so where are you getting your 70 riders from? It has to be the NL. Bear in mind that most EL teams bottom 4 are already riding in the PL.

You have no chance, sadly done properly it could save the PL money and bring on more British riders to save money in the future. But they all seem to prefer bringing on Swedes, Danes and Aussies! -

The biggest factor is how sweeping the bend are. Nice sweeping bend with the straights a long way apart make best racing. -
This logic amazes me. Rider and bike hit airfence. Bike removed air fence. Rider hits fence. But not time the rider does hit an air fence. Now get rid of air fences and I'll guarentee that 100% of the time the rider will hit the fence behind. So there is no problem with air fences. They are better than no air fence at all.

I'm sure the picking of meetings has been worse this year than ever before too. -
Harris was 4th in last seasons EL averages.

Elite League 2016 - What Is Required?
SCB replied to 1 valve's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Why Friday? Clashes with GP practice plus PL racing. Thursday clashes with 3 PL tracks too. There's no PL racing on Mondays and Wednesdays. The fast track either has to make every team have at least 1 current/former fast tracker in the 1-5, I'd also include Barker, Worrall and Lambert in the list too. I'd also take the race for at back to the old format. No more protectected heats. Why does it matter if a team has 1 GP rider or 4? The point limit is used to even out teams, you don't need any more artificial team team fiddling. It serves no purpose and it just a rule for the sake of having a rule. Before deciding on new rules you have to work out what is broke so you can fix it. The biggest issues are are missing riders and teams having no meerings for months and then 4 in a week. Rules are not needed to plan fixtures better. -
I could have listed any random 5 clubs, they're all in the rubbish.
-
Correct. In fact the golden double (as it was called then) was introduced in 1999 back in the days of the old tac sub. A great rule as the rider had to earn his double points. It seems odd saying this but I agree with DAC, the TR rule is crap and unfair. It's name is also crap, whats tactical about it? At least tac subs had us all trying to second guess what the team managers would do next!
