  1. Coventrys issue is that Hans is still a possible struggler, Harris' scores are more miss than hit. So when your too 2 can't be relied upon to score big you do worry a little. But then King and Kylmo should make up for it and it should be one Robbos better track. I'll go with about 4 points in it either way.
  2. This needs to stop! We've agreed on Antonio, Tai and Emil this afternoon!
  3. I'm going to defend TWK here. There are no rules or guidelines for wildcards, thus we'll all pick based on our own criteria. None of which are really wrong.
  4. Im hoping Antonio is next seasons token Swede in the GPs - the rest are dull and/or not good enough. Antonio has it in him to finish top 5 over a season.l - and do it the fun way too.
  5. This. One of the great things about the EL draft is seeing the young Brits coming on. We're able to see them got from second half to NL and now EL. It's nice to win but it's even better to see a young Brit from the very start. I still love seeing Harris, Barker, Lambert and Newman racing and doing well because I remember seeing them at training school or second halves. As for the gater vs racer thing. Garrity cost Coventry on Sky vs Poole but while I was disappointed I was. It annoyed withr Garrity because he rode his bits off and would have been far more upset with his score than I was. You just don't get that impression with some riders.
  6. The year he won his title was down to his ability to ride a great second bend and then play the percentages - he never went hung ho and lose places, he took a sensible approach and of that meant a safe second he took it. This year he's made a few rash moves that have seen him go backwards - but nothing like last year where at times his desperation made things worse.
  7. They couldn't spare a few 10s of thousands for Newport so I doubt they have the they'll pay towards keeping Coventry! I wonder what it would cost each club when broken down. Or even if it's worth investing the Sky money in Brandon, so rather than every club getting £x now they're get a smaller amount now but over a much longer period would get much more?!
  8. We already have a team of them, they're called referees!
  9. To some extent I agree. But IMO I'd say that riders like Emil and Ward who have dropped out of the GPs for lack of effort or bans should be made to earn their way back in. I know it's not a rule but I just think if you're going to throw something away then you should earn it back. I say that as an Emil fan and someone who thinks Ward is easily top 10 in the World (top 3 or 4 no doubt) and who wants to see the World best in the GPs. I've already said I'd happily compromise and let him have the GP qualifier wildcard (along with Zmarzlik) so he can try and qualify. Others will see it as the wildcards have to be the best 4 riders, some (BSI) will see it that the 4 riders have the be the 4 most commercial riders and its why we'll never all agree.
  10. Kennett used to annoy me doing it, these days it King. Even when it's blatantly obvious you need to cover the inside he goes wide! The only positive is whne you need to ride the outside he's bloody good at it. When I run some stats off a few months back form the last few years of riders heat 15 averages vs their over all average Danny King come out as one of the worst performers over the last 4 seasons. His over all British Speedway average was about 7.9 (EL and PL) but his heat 15 average was only 3.5, thats 3.5 ever 4 heat 15s, so he averages slightly worse than a 3rd in each heat 15 he rides in.
  11. TBF, while I disagree with them on Tungate (he did it, he's guilty IMO) they are right that all the other incidents are also against the rules. And as much as I know I would have done the same as Rob Godfrey and sat on the track that night, it cannot be allowed to go unpunished. But I'm sure if you banned him for 21 days he'd be quite happy as he's not be making any more losses for 21 day
  12. Woffy - 2013 Crump - 2009 Crump - 2006 Crump - 2004 Havvy - 1992 Lee - 1981 Collins - 1976 Craven - 1962 Craven - 1955 He said World Championships, not World Champions. He also said British born. Playing with semantics but technically correct edit> damn, beaten too it!
  13. Lindback will be in the GPs next season. He'll either qualify or get a wildcard as there no way THJ is finishing top 8 and TBH, I'd not put money on AJ finishing top 8 either.
  14. But he surely still has an average from back then. Even if he gets some sort of reduction.
  15. I cant believe people are trying to argue theres no proof, and it's not obvious. Pause the video at 1.47 and see where Tungate is pointing. He only had one intention with his back wheel being where it is, to wipe out Auty.
  16. How the hell is David Speight a 3 pointer? Surely he has a previous average?
  17. I don't see how they're anti-Poole no. Take that way if you like, it's typical of some Poole fans to see offence where it isn't though. the offence is at those who seem to worship the ground he walks on and let him get away with what he does.
  18. With engines, any engine, you can have fast or reliable. To get both is damn hard. You cars engine is designed and built to last a long time, not go fast. Don't forget you're barely stressing your engine when you drive it, how often is your foot planted firmly to the floor? Now consider how often a speedway rider has the throttle wide open. The Gerhard engine that Bomber, Rob Lambert and PK are riding from time to time at the moment is in theory going to be more reliable, so they are trying to make this happen. But it's going to cost more to by in the first place.
  19. I guess thats were reputation come in. If there a supplier/tuner/service-guy out there whos engines keep blowing up, people will soon learn to avoid them. Just a shame for the few that get caught. Good to hear Jon hasn't retired, he's a likable racer who has been a stalwart of the 3rd division with the odd, reasonable successful (almost too successful at times) foray into the 2nd division.
  20. Just done a bit of research on a few of the guys mentioned in this thread, it seems odd that Karl Fiala retired so soon but equally Bobby Garrad seemed to make it too a very good level very young but then seemed to drop back alarmingly while still young and he too seems to have retired in mid-late 20s too. What was it about Rye House at that time that seemed to make young, one time promising riders retire so young?!
  21. Are you serious? No intent? So why is he sliding sidewise down the straight if he didnt intend for the back wheel to slide out? Anyone who has ridden a bike will tell you the ONLY way to get the rear end out like that is to intentionally open the throttle.
