Kings Lynn Vs Belle Vue : Wed 23rd July
SCB replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It amazes me how often we seen team managers giving riders all 4 rides. I understand if you're winning easily but otherwise it seems odd. -
You say that but most motorsports are done with wildcards and payment entry. There very few AFAIK, that have qualifiers.

No, they're both equally to blame if they sit/stand there. The rules only allow for impeding an opponent. -

It's probably not a totally fair comparison. BV have raced all but about 2 away meetings while Swindon still have more left tor race than they have raced. The issue for Swindon is those they have raced they have been terrible and even their changes won't change the fact they're rarely scoring much at reserve, Batch is hit and miss and Zengota goes AWOL at a lot of away tracks. -

Technically, there nothing in the rules about laying down to avoid a team mate or wiping out a team mate. It's only if you do it to an opponent. So even if a rider wipes his team mate out and both stay down, the refer should exclude both - most don't though. Equally if a rider wipes his team mate out and carries on, its the fallen rider who should be excluded. -
Have You Ever Seen Anything Like This ?
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Haven't you just come up with a stereotype of your own though? As it is, I'm with you in the main. I like the slightly more relaxed atmosphere at a meeting here in the UK to that of Poland. But saying that, I do enjoy a play-off meeting vs Poole where things undoubtedly get a little more tense and highly charged. -

Wasn't Jon Armstrong claiming in the Speedway Star last year that he had used the same engine for about 12 years now? -

The BSPA MC, as per the rules. Who can ban him and allow a facility for up to 28 days. -

Youve made that up. If a rider withholds his services it's 28 days. If he's injured or I'll then it's until the end of the season. Yes we all know Howe has in fact retired but if he admited that then Glasgow would be stuffed so easier to say he's injured. -
I wonder, do the same people feel sorry for Sainsburys when Tesco have a 2 for 1 offer?

It the same at any track. It's a depressing site and some people seem to want to ignore it. BV fans are spring chickens compared to Birminghams! -
There no such thing as first bend bunching. It's an unsatisfactory start. To me, once you have got to the first bend you are past the start. Referees need to make a decision. They rarely do on bend 1 and some even bottle it on bend 2.

I know, it's what makes this result even better -
I'm with you pretty much (I just thought I'd try and thrown in a less, "we hate Glasgow" justification*), it would be nice if every time something went to the BSPA MC they had to put the details of the request and a justified solution on their website. We're only talking a sentence or two for each request. Most of them would be pretty boring stuff, "Team X asked to change declared line up. Agreed to change as per rules" but from time to time you'd get "Team Y asked to change declared line up. Turned down as rule x.y.z says..... and the MC agreed that meant that ......" *I think the BSPA hate most teams, it's certainly not a personal thing most of the time. The MC are just inconsistent - bordering on inept at times.
-
Or maybe, it is because it's Glasgow. Because Glasgow were already given a chance when allowed to sign Howe despite the fact the rule is written in such a way that it implies it should not have actually been allowed. So the BSPA have only allowed the 14 days they have been known to allow in the past.

Watt vs Holder just shows how some people have still not worked out the effect the format has on riders scoring! -

Brilliant!! Nice one Wolves! -
I'd accept the compromise he gets the wildcard for the GP qualifier later this season. Certainly not a GP wildcard. The reason he missed the qualifiers is because he was banned, not unlucky or injured.

Alan Boon has asked me to post the following. ------------- I see the BSF has exploded in outrage at me wishing DEATH on someone. Yet, as usual, the "speedway family" doesn't quite get it. Let me explain... There's a poster on Twitter called Robin. He's a Poole fan. I don't know if he posts on here so I won't give his full name because that's a dick move. Anyway, we have a back and forth, usually him getting mock (I think?) offended about things I say about Poole, and also him trying to get a rise out of me when he says I HAVEN'T been offended by something he thinks I probably should have been. So to play the game I post ever-more outrageous comments. Last night was one of those. Then he retweeted it, because perhaps he wasn't playing the same game I thought he was and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. Well, a few people got offended. Now IF I did want a certain person to die is entirely my own prerogative. Do I want to kill him? No. Would I intervene if someone else was killing him? Yes. Would I do a little dance if I heard he died? No. Would it really bother me? No, not really. But the "speedway family" has to have its outrage and it has to have it in the most unlikely places. I've never fled from police whilst on drugs. I've never been on trial for sexual assault. I've never been caught drunk driving. I've never been thrown out of a bar in Poland for pissing in public. I've never been punched unconscious outside a pub which closed two hours earlier. I've never had to be breathalised before doing my job because my behaviour the night before was suspicious. And that's just half of the things he's done. No, all I've done is write a few things that some people don't like because they have a different opinion to me. And some of things weren't even meant in the way the "speedway family" took them. But you carry on being outraged, it'll hide the real problems in this sport.

The rules, generally, are fine. The issue is how the people whos job it is to enforce them chose to ignore them when it suits their mates.
