Just don't see it. People are going, "oooo, foreign, must be good" - nah. Covatti is a slightly more exciting version of Tomicek. Will score the same whatever the level of meeting he's in. Both were 1 point away from being a GP rider but take no notice. Covatti was losing to draft riders in last years EL and had some crap meetings for Sheffield. A likeable rider yes, but any more than a point on his average and I'll be surprised. The bi-annual call of, "Adam Roynon". He has a god year, then gets injured and has a shocker then has a good year once fit.... Wolbert, Heeps, Garrity, Newman, Hall and Richie Worrall. Bellego could stick a few points on his average too if he carries on his previous Owlerton form.

Thats rubbish. The sport is meant to be professional. I doubt it was decided at 8am this morning to release the fixtures. Any decent website could have it so at 10am the fixture suddenly appear having done the work the day before. Get someone else to do it. It's a poor show really.

Is the NL at Rye House ever going to create much enthusiasm? It's a second team to them, they're probably not all that bothered and would rather have 1 or two youngsters with a view to them becoming Rockets rather than sign up some super team anyway.

Yet it was said previously that the league a rider parent club is in gets priority so Coventry get priority over Robbo as he's owned by Lakeside. To be honest, I'd hope that Coventry and Lakeside would do good by each other if they had to and swap assets, Robbo for Kennett with a "swap back clause" for the end of the season.

Arthur was raved about a few years ago. You don't lose talent. He probably just needs time on a bike. If he can come over and get 2 or 3 points a meeting from the off and do basically what Fricke has done the last 2 season then he'll turn out to be a great signing.

It amuses me that fans think promoters sign a rider and put the press release out 10 minutes later. Some riders are signed up for weeks, even months before being announced - sometimes for maximum exposure, sometimes because I think promoters like playing games because they can. Other times because the promoters have forgot the fans exist and need informing

Riders Gardening At The Tapes
SCB replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I can't wait for the time a rider gets to the tapes, jumps off his bike to do some gardening while the other 3 riders are still in the pits he is excluded. Yeah, great idea. -
Correct. Pointless (to that point) Matej Ferjan iwon heat 12 and Bjarne couldn't catch him. That was back in the days when you could do a TS - a TR from 15 metres replacing another rider.

Which for me shows what a funny old World we live in. Golf, holds 0 interest to me, I don't get it, even the whacking the ball a long way at the start bit, really? Now crazy golf could be a decent sport to watch at least there's a skill. But I get that there are loads of people out there who enjoy it for all sorts of reasons but it's just not for me. Most sports are stop and start though. Like golf, 18 holes so 18 starts. Cricket, whats happens when the balls not being throw and hit? Snooker is a lot of looking at the table (and while I can watch it on tele, why would anyone want to go and watch it live?!) but I do get why a lot of people think I'm a bloody weirdo for liking speedway because even I think I (we?!) am.

Riders Gardening At The Tapes
SCB replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm sure riders just have to be "on their way to tapes" - that to some could be on track, to others leaving their pit box, while others see at is in their starting bay almost ready to go (see Cov vs Swindon meeting last season!) Agreed with a lot of that. Once the green light has come on, the race has started. Bikes should NOT be allowed off the track. You cannot swap bikes either, once you have started the race thats it. If there any sort of delay all the bikes should be parked up by the start line. The referee can with the agreement of the machine examiner (or whoever the tech person in the pits is) allow a rider to enter the pits or swap bikes where an accident was not deemed his fault. -
I've said this for a long time. I try and distance myself from managers/promoters/riders on a personal level. I'm constantly told most of them are "nice guys" so I'm happy to ignorantly believe this

He was always an odd on, real name Tyson Barber but wanted to be known as Nelson! Odd how he's got a work permit for two season over here, with a gap in the middle.
-
TBF to Drury, he's been involved in the sport since almost forever now. He's promoter/managed at a number of clubs at all levels of the sport and generally has a good (but not great) record of building and managing pretty decent teams. He's also been pretty successful on the promotion side so I'm not sure how this is a bad move.
-
Which is how it used to be. I'd be nice and say assesed average 7 can't drop lower than 6, gives some wiggle room for them then. But no hard luck stories, the dropping to 6 gives them a points tolerance to allow for injury or other bad luck.

Out of curiosity, what are the rules on speedway engines? Could I buy an off the shelf non-speedway engine under 500cc and race it? Note I said race, not win on it. Or does it have to meet stricter guidelines than that (and yes, I'm too lazy to check the rulebook myself!)

No doubt every time Jack is mentioned we're going to get "Jack, brother of Chris, who doesn't want to be compared to his brother" like we got for 4 season with James!!

Looking Back On The Elite League
SCB replied to weatherwatcher's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think PL fans are massively deluded where EL racing is concerned. Wolves did similar to an Edinburgh team too. Only a brilliant meeting from Andy Tully prevented them being embarrassed at Wolves. As show above with the Edinbugh/BV teams, BVs top 4 would barely drop a points and then the BV 5th rider would be Edinburghs 2nd rider, as would BVs 6th rider. Theres a massive gulf. But these are the same people who often tell us the EL is not Elite and it's a scam and the EL fans pay too much. Forgetting the PL has never been and cannot be using any definition you like the Premier League and they pay only £1 less on average. -
That was one of my thought the other day. A rider is classed as signed into the meeting one he signs on for practice - technically any rider drinking after signing no for practice and before the end of the last race is at risk of being test and banned. Even a single beer straight after practice. Unless I have misunderstood. So Darcy admitting to a drink on the Saturday night has admitted to having a drink while signed into a meeting.

Or without Terry Russell speedway would have 100% of nothing. but could put a few videos on youtube. I agree it's not ideal but it's better than nothing. That said, if I was a promoter I'd be pretty peed off.
-
Thats unlikely as he riding for the Coventry Storm on a Friday night. Plus you have about 4.5 points left don't you? Plenty of better option option on that figure surely? Though I must admit I've not actually looked myself.
-
Drunk - to be intoxicated by alcohol. Yes, he was drunk.
-
But surely that is only one bit of evidence. The fact Darcy said on tele when interviewed he'd done it and Middlo has said in the press twice now that Darcy knows he was wrong is enough. You know the old, "anything you say can and will be used against you...." thing. If the police can't prove it was me that broke into a house they have no case. If I admit it, then they don't need CCTV and finger prints proving I was there.
-
Both correct. Thats all of them. Weirdly the first post has gone! Hans and Harris were 5-1d 3 times. If i remember I'll post the number of times the top 10 pairs were all 5-1d later.
-
Yeah, wouldn't want Darcy to miss a party would we?
-
Correct. they're 10th
