correct #4

EL only ATM. I'll do the PL another time. #4 No! As they only ever got heats 15's together and between them they missed a lot of the season it's no surprise if you think about it. edit > Just checked and they didn't get a single 5-1 in 2013 Turbo Twins?!

Correct. They're #6

You get to feel smug that you got one of them right. Just knowing that is a good enough prize itself.
-
Barker and King at #2 in the list!
-
Where as I enjoyed it as a one off. Not sure I could watch it every week but a decent night out tbf.

If you must know I had hoped it would stop raining so I could dry out my car that had been leaking, as it's been raining all day I took the opportunity to update speedway-stats which meant I was able to produce this list. I need to go for a lie down in a dark room now as my day has been just too exciting

I'm bored so I decided to count the number of 5-1s each pair of riders had in 2013. I've compiled a list of the top 10, how many can you guess? the number in brackets is the number of 5-1s they scored. 1 Kennett AND Kildemand (21 times) - theblueboy 2 Barker AND King (17 times) - MrMungo 3 Woffinden AND Proctor(15 times) - Pirate Nick 4= Ward AND Johnasson (14 times) - John Leslie 4= Bjerre AND Fisher (14 times) - John Leslie 6 Woffinden AND F Lindgren (12 times) 7 Doyle AND Smolinski (12 times) - Graham C 8 Zagar AND Wolbert(11 times) - Anzum 9 Karlsson AND Bridger (10 times) - Bjarne Rebel 10= Kildemand AND Morris (9 times) - Anzum 10= Korneliussen AND Worrall (9 times) - Bjarne Rebel 10= Doyle AND Harris (9 times) - Anzum 10= Nicholls AND Kasprzak (9 times) - Barney Rebel Bonus points for guessing the 3 riders who appear 2 times with different partners.

Was Penhall,s Retirement The Start Of The Decline In Speedway.?
SCB replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
I think it was the beginning of the end when they started letting foreigners ride in the UK. And it got even worse when they started letting foreigners ride for Great Britain. -
1. What about Skidder? 2. I dont have a chip on my shoulder about Neil. I can justify everything I have an issue with him over. 3. So if Rosco finishes 7th he should be sacked? But Middlo who finished in 7th is wonderful and it's not his fault but the riders?
-
£1000 says Team GB finish higher than 7th in 2014? Thats offer is open to anyone. Sidney, starman2006 or someone else reading this. I say Rosco will do a better job than Middlo and have put £1000 down.

Sorry but dropping Craig Cook who has ambition and has pride and wants to ride in the SWC? http://www.scotsman.com/sport/more-sport/motorsport/speedway-cook-blasts-team-gb-after-axe-1-3002612 Thats all crap. The riders want to do it, just read what they have to say when they start ranting on twitter. But you can hardly expect the likes of Barker and Bridger to turn up at the Marketa in Prague with 2 days notice and score big points. And how is dropping Cook after one, admittedly slightly disappointing meeting going to do anything to build for the future?
-
So what was Middlo doing to beat them?
-
We dont want to be also rans forever. Thats the point. What was Middlo doing to stop us being also rans either now or in the future? I happen to believe that without too much effort we are SWC finalists and on the right day can make the top 3 in the SWC final. Lets do that, lets get ourself into solid SWC finalists. THEN we can start introducing a youth element to build for the future. But Middlo did neither did he? Phil Morris is doing a good job working with some talented young kids ATM and bring them on, they'll become the SWC rider of a few years time. I could begrudgingly accept 7th place if we had gone with a team of Woffinden, Cook, Worrall and Garrity who IMO should be able to give Team USA a run for their money anyway but we didn't. Either aim to get the best result possible (technically 1st but realistically 3rd) or go with youth and give them a realistic target.

It would be interesting to know what this survey was for. Because them results show nothing at all.

Last season, once Middlo picked his 4, my mum, a total speedway numptie who could probably name you about 2 or 3 current day riders could have picked 4 more Brits who would have had the beating of the Latvians! She could have gone with Nicholls, King, Barker and Bridger. All 4 of them are better than anything Latvia has to offer and are better than 3 (at least 2) of anything the USA had to offer. Would we have beat the Poles, Aussies or Danes? Well the Americans got within 5 of the Aussies in the race-off so possibly but I'll conceed probably not. But in our best 4 we have Woffy, Harris, Nicholls and Cook. Thats a very impressive, very capable 4. Capable of beating the Aussie team they put out. I maintain we have the rider to be the 3rd best team in the World with a bit of "luck", prep and get up and go. We should be top 4 without too much effort. We ended up 7th FFS! Sweden and Poland assess foreigners overly high so there are no bargains. Not unfairly high but they take a cautious approach,. What do we do? The opposite, decide what they're capable of and round down. We should be doing what the Swedes and Danes have done for years. The penny drops. Why did they beat us? Because Middlo went into a meeting in a foreign country with 2 rider who had a couple of days to prep. Now if he'd got the 4 riders correct in the first place, if he's worked wirth them, if he;'d got their bets out of them then we would have beat the Latvians and the Americas who were prepping for the SWC for months (certainly the Americans were) and knew which 4 were going to ride months in advance with Wells and Fisher who are no great shakes the chance to get ready to go out and beat the World.
-
Maybe after Glasgow (and 2 or 3 others, but mainly Glasgow) bringing in so many who have failed to average 5 in the last few year they decided to clamp down?
-
We all picked it up before the event. And that Kennett should never have been picked.

A Plea To The Bspa Regarding Fixtures For 2014
SCB replied to oldtimer's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Are you surprised? It amazes me that EL clubs for a start dont run on GP weekends when they know now that 1 or maybe 3 riders will be missing but will happily arrange meetings for GP qualifier weekends when you sometimes have 6 or 7 riders missing from a meeting -
Sgp Riders' Numbers
SCB replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
TBH most speedway merchandise is tacky rubbish that I wouldn't be seen dead in. -
So you dont think we can beat the USA or Latvia? Between them they have Greg Hancock and on a good day Ryan Fisher. We have about half a dozen riders who are better than Fisher.
-
Until you actually get on a track on a bike you don't realise that a pot hole doesn't have to be that big to have a massive effect. It also makes me laugh when people say put dirt on the tracks, it doesnt take a lot of dirt to have the bike bouncing around and doing all sorts. And I was 100 second 4 laps around Scunny for it to scare the crap out of me!
-
No it wouldn't. Thats a a load of crap. Make them flat, smooth and consistent and the rider will have the confidence to race harder and closer.
-
Yes we all make mistakes but were talking the best team manager in the country, he should not be making mistakes that an amateur makes.
