  1. It's alright slagging off the BSPA/SCB but what if next year the UK Speedway Series decides to run every Friday? Then the year after decided to run twice a week? Then it realises, hang on, we could set up our own league? The SCB have to stop it now.
  2. I think Lynn have the title wrapped up based on current 1-7s. We still dont know that Batch is going to be at Swindon and Poole are ordinary. Lynn look good value and for an outside bet Eastbourne don't look bad as they're capable of banging in a big score at home in the play-offs if they should sneak in. The rest than little to no chance. Should add I don't expect that Poole 1-7 to be the same in September.
  3. What use is that to Coventry? the numbers are already against a NL rider making it to the EL but to sign this team of riders make no sense what so ever. Jacobs aside I doubt if any of the others will ever make it to the EL. In fact, the PL will be a step to far for most of them!
  4. Well thats going to be great for the club when they progress over the coming years. Brendon Johnson is going to be an 8 point man one day based on his improvement year on year up to now. Thats 8 point NL rider.
  5. Well I'll admit I don't know a huge amount about NL speedway but that team looks pretty rubbish to me. Will surely take something special to take the wooden spoon off them :s
  6. No, i was talking about an irrelevant poster in the background, the kind of thing only a geeky speedway fan would notice! Like Hayley Croppers Stoke Speedway sticker in the back of her car (where do the people of Coronation Street keep their cars, as they're never on the road :/)
  7. Campton who failed to average 5? What about Penfold and Davey? Thats a lot of failures. You mean Brit Nick Morris? He didnt need a work permit. Work permits are law and whatever you or I think of laws they have to be abided by. Laws are not excuses. If Glasgow (any clubs tbf) keeps signing duff Aussies (any work permit riders) then the government can stop allowing any work permit riders in and that would be a travesty. So do Glasgow (or the BSPA) wnat to risk us seeing the like like of Holder and Ward for the sake of some rider who Glasgow signed on a 5, hoping he'd be ok but he only goes on to average 1.5? Who exactly gains from such a rider riding here? And what other duff foreigner have averaged less than 3 like Davey, O'Malley and Penfold? Duff is generally the 4.5-5 that Mason Campton averaged and is being heralded as some sort of star.
  8. I'm only disappointed that MainMain didn't sign his mate Nick "Clanger" Mallett. Rider to promoter back to rider, it's almost a fairy tale story.
  9. Was going to say, it was about '97 as it was about the time I was getting into the sport.
  10. Obviously not mates with the right people!
  11. There was a poster for Newcastle Speedway on Byker Grove about 15 years ago as well. I'd normally say it's not relevant as it's so old but it's more current than One a Jolly Swagman :/
  12. A criminal and a rider who stated in Sweden and to get a permit you have to return to Australia. If either of these riders now fails that's surely it for Glasgow and assessed Aussies after O'Malley failed after appeal in 2012
  13. Isn't it bad that a club that closed down before the internet existed has a website that looks better than a lot of modern clubs?
  14. 10 miles from Reading surely means Reading Racers makes sense. Nobody would know where Alermaston is so it needs to be Reading or Basingstoke and Reading has history. 10 miles is pretty clsoe int he scheme of things, probably as close as Eastbourne and Edinburgh are to the towns/cities they're named after! Even Coventry is not in Coventry.
  15. It's dreadful. You have the main page, it serves what purpose? And it's not obvious where you have to click to actually enter the main site. If you're going to have an entry page like that then make the whole image clickable to enter the actual site. Then you get in and on the right you have text scrolling up, while in the middle you have images scrolling to the right and more text scrolling up. How the hell are you meant to read text when it's moving around?! Stop having moving text, moving anything unless you know how to do it FFS!
  16. That fine, have a holding page but make it a single page without iframes and moving stuff that moves for no reason at all other than the prove the person designing can make stuff move. Frankly, I'd not pay mad web design a penny. There are many better people out there who could build you a free site. And even more that'll do it much better for a few £££!
  17. But it wouldn't be "pottering around" it would be the same speed. It would just not make noise or smell. Everyone has a iPod these days, just play a sound of bikes during races! Everyone is happy.
  18. How fitting that Freddie was finally recognised by the GP big wigs at the British GP only months before his passing. Unquestionably Wales greatest ever speedway rider. RIP Freddie.
  19. I thought that part of a rider SCB/ACU license stipulated they could not ride unless a meeting was sanctioned by them? It's how the Poles stop their riders racing over here. riders need permission from their license holder to race elsewhere. Yes riders can race in this series but they'll be banned from racing in the EL, PL and NL won't they?
  20. We'll never know about speedway, it's a closed shop. But generally in UK football, the clubs making the most profit are NOT the biggest clubs. The bigger clubs tend to be run by egomaniacs who want to win and will do so at whatever cost. But it's all relative, someone taking home £400 a week will spend £30 going to speedway and then £30 down the pub. Thats £60 of their £400 they'll get no return on. So a person taking home £4,000 a month may thing nothing of losing £1,500 a month to have a go at playing speedway promoters. Im sure there are clubs out there happily ticking over, giving the promoters a reasonably living (if not great). Maybe Matt was happy enough losing a few £££ in 2012 because he's made a relative killing over the previous 10 years.
  21. A few risks in this team but most are worth taking. Schramm and Lemon have just had one off bad season, if they can get in back then they're great signings. Gathercole can improve a little and Kling should be a good PL heatleader. I've rated Kurtz since the first time I saw him but the season at number 2 "helped" his average last season and makes him attractive on his new figure. Not champions but certainly not chumps, by a long way. I'll should sneak top 6 IMO.
  22. Hougaard Cook Klindt Worrall [in both leagues] (bit of a cheat that one really) Kennett Wethers Wright (James) Wilkinson Garrity Perry
  23. So you've seen http://www.kentspeed...ebdesign.co.uk/ as well then? :s Seriously, iframes? They died 10 years ago! All that space on a page wasted and the actually "content" squashed into a tiny box.
