Matt Ford To Be Commended
SCB replied to 21st century heathen's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I still think Matt Ford would sell his granny to gain an advantage over the rest of the league and will screw anyone over he has to. just because he's handled this one situation well doesn't mean he's suddenly in line for a sainthood in my opinion. -
Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again
SCB replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Does anyone know if Darcy has to declare his conviction every time he enters the UK? If so, it could lead to some scary waits every time he tries to get back in, if he meets the wrong immigration officer or pisses the wrong one of they could tell him to go home. -

As someone who is quick to critisize Matt, I'll add that I also think he's handled this as well as he can do. -
Middleditch Must Go - New Gb Boss Needed
SCB replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
On what basis? He failed to win the league in 2010 and 2012 with the best teams. He continues to give Scott Nicholls a joker (in his own ride) in the SWC every year despite everyone knowing it should be used on your best rider in another heat other than his own and that Scott Nicholls fails on the joker every year. He doesn't understand the TR rules and when asked about Pooles new signing Denis Andersen on Sky a few years ago he said he knew nothing about him. He's a terrible team manager and seeminly a it of a wally of a person too if he things all kids are pissed up drugged up police evaders. -
Because the promoters cannot be in two places at once. If you're in the EL meeting, how can you also be in the NL meeting next door? it makes sense for that meeting to be a few weeks later.

Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again

Neil said all kids do it. So Neil brought his kids and everyone elses kids into it. He's gone past borderline, he's a bloody disgrace. -

I'm only shocked people are shocked at Middlos comments. Middlo is as thick as rubbish. -
The massive crowds suggest otherwise.

Official Clothing Available To Speedway Supporters
SCB replied to Race IT's topic in Souvenirs & Memorabilia etc
Them surveys are rubbish. If people want to do market research I suggest contacting a market research company. Quite simply, I'd not buy any speedway merchandise, it's expensive and rubbish looking. -
If optimistic is saying he'll fail to make the top 8, even with some luck then I'd hate to see you being pessimistic

No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?
SCB replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nobody is showing it. Quite why speedway fans need to get so worked up I don't know. in a few weeks time it may be the case that someone is showing it, but for now, nobody is the answer. -
OMG what have you got against OAPs, you bastard. You want them to die. How dare you. They have been going to speedway for 60 years you know? They deserve a mention. At Peterborough it's not Wedding Anniversaries but birthday requests. I'm always amazed at how many styles of happy birthday they play each week, the people of Peterborough must have 3 or 4 birthdays a year!

Excellent news. Probably my only grip about the season preview edition in the past.

I was just about to correct 21CH and say, if I can ride a speedway bike it's easy. throwing one around at speed and not falling off and racing side by side with 3 other guys I could not do, I have a sense of self preservation. So riding one = easy. Racing one = bloody hard.

Coventry have had a DJ for a while. Certainly a lot better than most tracks. One of my biggest complaints about speedway is you're not going to attract people when they walk in to 70s and 80s music (and for the record I have more than my fair share of 70s and 80s music in my car for someone born in the mid-80s bu theres a time and a place). The presentation at speedway is almost universally crap.

LOL

Fair point and I accept raw power is actually not the answer in speedway. So if what we're saying is that power is just going to be wasted as wheel spin, Gollob and co won't want it so won't bother with Titanium then will they?

1.5bhp out of an 85bhp bike is actually quite a significant advantage.

Only at home thought really. Some of his second bends were immense I remember Lanham and White once taking a stuffing on bend 2 when the Wasps were 40-38 down at home, results? Watson nipping under them all off the dodgy gate 4 for the win thanks to Anders Soem great names who I used to love watching in Pinstripes list there. Paul Pickering as mentioned was as hard as nails and often had me swearing at him but I used to love watching him race, the Pickering/Burrows pairing was scary, Pickering would shove you out of the way with intent and Burrows would clatter into you trying to stay on the bike As for jesper Olsen, '99 was his one season, average about 10, other than that one season he was a 7.5 rider. IN '99 Wato was averaging about 10.5 for Newport, was unbeatable at home but Newcastle turned up with Eriksson and Olsen and they blitzed, he scored about 5, I was in shock. Seem to remeber Jesper got 2nd in the Welsh Open that year too. Neville Tatum guested for Newport at Swindon in '99 on the day of the infamous victory, the one where Smart come from 15 metres to beat Marsh and Masters (how often was a GDTS used against a heatleader?). I took a liking to him from then on. As for Sean Wilson. I was there at Newport a few days before the PLRC when he aimed for Frank Smart (no angel at all tbf) on the 2nd bend at Newport, missed and smashed into the fence and idioted up his shoulder missing the PLRC and the start of the following season - the guy was a dirty bastard who I loved to hate but anyone who saw his 3rd bends at Sheffield couldn't fail to actually like him, even if it was very begrudgingly Most of the rider on that list are from my "good old days when the sport was so much better". To add to that list, what are Mike Coles, Scott Peglar (the guy thought I was mad when I pounced on him for a photo at Cardiff a few years ago and told him it was his fault I was a speedway fan was very embarrassed - he scored about 18 points vs Newcastle in '98, the day Lawrence Hare broke his thigh on his debut for Newpor, but missed the gate 7 times), Neil Collins, Savalas Clouting and Alan Mogridge up to these days?

Its not often I agree with manchesterpauls weird fascinations but he is right on this one. Who thought putting the teams in prediction order was a good idea? put them in alphabetical rider, it does make more sense.
-
Technically, if would be possible to narrow the pitch and fit a speedway track between the pitch and the running track but it would make the pitch the minimum size allowed. Might get a bit awkward fitting in a fence that would have to be removed all the time but others manage. I don't see it happening but it would be nice to see someone look into it.

Must admit, I don't envisage tbe crowds flooding in on a Tuesday evening to watch the riders named so far. So in thst respect I don't know why the SCB/BSPA don't just let them try it.

No Gps On Sky Television Next Year?
SCB replied to The White Knight's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
When I looked speedways was always 1 or 2 on that weeks viewing on whatever channel it was on, do there's only rarely something watched more so surely it's a success? -
Let's hope he can because I though last years track wouldn't take much in the way of tweaking to make it an immense track with that banking. A few riders in a few heats did start to show that. Only hope I'll be able to wake up in the middle of the night and watch it live on tele!
