Jason Crump To Step Down From Sgp At Torun.
SCB replied to NeilWatson's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I find this quite sad. I remember when I first started getting into speedway that Crumpy was just startuing out in the sport himself so he'll be the first big name whos career I've seen from the start and it now looks like it's coming to an end. Thing is, I still see Curmpy as one of the few genuine contenders for a GP win each round - even if them wins have dried up in recent years. That said, Crumpy is a winner, and it doesn't surprise me that if he doesn't think he can't win then he won't complete - the way it should be really. I do hope this means a return to the British league though. -
1000 @ £10 is not as good as 700 @ £15 so surely if this new, higher attendance can be maintained it'll be ok.

What an immensely intelligent ride by MJJ in the final there. Great ride from him on a terrible track.
-
No, not really. But as I said, it happens. It's always happened and it'll always continue to happen.
-
Yeah, because it's never happened before. Like when Joe Screen let Mark Loram pass him to win the World Title.

Final Gp Of The Season (venue)
SCB replied to pirateandi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
According to the stadium website, theres nothing happening in October. -
I actually think thats a pretty good idea. I hope it pays off.
-
Probably that too. I doubt any of the riders even realise they think like that but I'm sure Adam was sat in the pits before the meeting thinking, "if I don't score well today this huge journey is a waste of time".
-
It depends, who stands to gain? Aaron Summers never had his 2010 EL meetings included in his average, yet Chris Schramm was deemed an illegal guest for Coventry last week because of meetings in the EL in 2010. Josh G at Bv also has 2010 figures in his average.
-
So we have a lad in his 5th speedway meeting dropping a point in the NL. Proof if you're good enough then, well, you're good enough! He doesn't need the BSPA to make rules for him or fiddle things for him. One thing that is probably focusing his mind is the 13 hour one way journey to meetings in the UK from home! Rather than the, "oh well, if I fail it's only a couple of hours back to mum and dads". Sometimes I think the kids have it too easy
-
I just don't see why a man (or kid, he's 14!) would want to ride NL when he's beating Schlein and Kennett on the continent. I don't fall for this crap of riding laps will always help, no it won't, for me thats a killer. What helps is learning that the first bend (where 90% of races are won and lost) is a hard place and coping with it as you progress, he won't get that in the NL.
-
I guess it's not impossible, but Newport brought him over before he rode for Swindon (I actually think he did a meeting or two for Eastbourne the year before that too). I can only assume Swindon bought him from Newport when it was clean Newport were in a mess.
-
Looking at Nedermarks average that makes sense. Thanks.
-
I would imaging he's owned by the BSPA as he was a Newport asset, so I guess whoever stumps up the cash for him this winter will own him (and the other Newport assets, Mellgren, Kurtz and Jones)
-
Hang on a second. How did Ricky Wells get a R/R ride? R/R for Ingalls, rider above is Aarnio (Nedermark) and not Roynon (Wells). His 3 point for R/R should be removed.
-
Why? Sayfutdinov went straight into the Polish Extra League at 16. If you're good enough then ride at the highest level you can. Too many Brits are happy to hang around in the NL and the PL as it is. He's showing in Germany he has the talent and whatever else is needed to beat EL riders - Schlein and Kennett this weekend - If he can beat them now, in 18 months time when he can ride EL he'll be averaging 8! Maybe I have just heaped a great deal of presure on the lad but he seems to be thriving off it at the moment. All I know is that right now I can't wait to see him race, at any level!
-
Dekker is right, if he rides in the German league he's a 5. The onyl reason Brits come in on a 3 is because they have neve raced in a professional league, if someone races in a professional league before they ride PL they are a 5.
-
The more laps any British rider cna get the better, and if them laps can be on track against 3 other riders then even more better. More British riders should be allowed to double. Good luck to Joe, a promising career that has been struck down by a multitude of injuries, if a few meetings in the NL can help him over come that then good for him.

Time For A Rethink In Rolling Averages?
SCB replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Speedway fans amaze me. If a rider has a NL, PL and EL average then he would use his NL average for the NL, his PL average for the PL and his EL average for the EL. It's common sense and no need for anything else. -
And to think Coventry kept using him in the EL. Point proved, he's rubbish, despite nobody ever listening to me.

How patheticly true

There's 2 races take place simultaneously. Race 1 contains Nicki Pedersen, Nicki Pedersen, Nicki Pedersen and Nicki Pedersen. Race 2 contains Greg Hancock, Greg Hancock, Greg Hancock and Greg Hancock. You can watch 1 race, you can never see the other race. Which do you pick? 99% of people are going to watch Nicki take Nicki wide so Nicki and Nicki dive up the inside of both, then Nicki will turn left down the straight and the other will not budge so the left turning one crashes out, before he's even hit the floor he's got his hands up protesting. Meanwhile 4 Greg Hancocks are riding 4 laps around the kerb as nothing noteworthy happens. As Greg goes over the line Nicki is swearing at the referee as Nicki is abusing Nicki for daring to fall off. We're all abusing Nicki for falling off, causing Nicki to fall, riding the man and not the race and then swearing. We remember the Nicki race until we die while the Greg race is just another boring Greg race. Nicki is box office, I'll boo him at Cardiff, I'll moan about him, call him dirty and a cheat but I'll pay good money to watch Nicki Pedersen RACE a speedway bike. I love to hate Nicki and Nicki loves us to hate him.

Time For A Rethink In Rolling Averages?
SCB replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
tbf, it's brought up as it's a good example of why we have rolling averages. I think 25ish meetings is about right, give or take a couple of meetings. I'd also have a 2 year/24 month cut off too. -
There is no limit on r/r. There is a limit on a rider "withholding his services".
