Chris Holder World Champion
SCB replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A worthy winner, been great all season. A brilliant all round rider. Well Done Chris! -
Well, almost. I'm happy
-
Hoping for a Nicki heat 13 win and then the battles really on!
-
Why not? At least he will have qualified then.
-
I just hope it comes down to the final, Nicki does something naughty and it all kicks off. Won't care who wins then, it'll be a laugh either way.

At least Ben is British! Tai is happy to be an Aussie when it suits. If we're having a Brit that is liked and might score a point or two in a GPs then were stuffed! There isn't one!

I have nothing but respect and admiration for what Ales has been through and achieved. He deserves plenty of success. That said, Ales Dryml just doesn't cause any emotion for me when he's on track, he's just, "meh, so what?" at least an on song AJ is great to watch. Plus anyone who's bikes and race suit design are based on Lightening McQueen is cool with me! There is a debate though, one based on the rules and guidelines and one based on, well, what is your side based on? -
Are you really telling me that the Brits will only attend a GP if we have a Brit to cheer to a possible semi-final?! HaHa! That being the case why wasn't Cardiff empty by the time we got to the final as there were no Brits in the last 3 races! Woffinden is no more likely to get me there than MJJ, Vaculik or Ward (not including Hampel as I find him boring - BUT he has to be in the GP's IMO). MJJ, Vaculik, Ward and Hampel for me. It's also interesting that the majority of Brits seem to want that 4, very few mentioned of Woffinden. TBH, I'd prefer Barker be there than Woffinden. As I see it, Woffinden is not all that liked by the Brits so having him in to please the Brits would be bloody stupid.

Anyone whos seen Crumpy with the "kids" knows what a star he is. I remember him running a training school at Newport circa-05, he spent the day running between the track and helping the rider who were at the school, running into the crowd to pose for photos and sign autographs for the fans and in between it all he was going to check on his wife and kids and spend time with them. Also the 2001 Welsh Open, between each of his heats Crumpy was walking around the track signing autographs, after the meeting when the pits were open he stood by his van signing autographs that long that I managed to go in the bar, have a couple of drinks and he was STILL signing autographs and chatting with he fans. A great rider, but also someone who does the sport proud. -
It was suggested that the top guys were earning 125k in the EL about 5 years ago. Poland tops that too. So a million is probably not far short. Plus I'm guessing most riders have their fingers in a number of pies so to speak. Gollob owns a few petrol stations while AJ has an import company based in Poland I believe. I would imagine any rider who is just riding Sweden, Poland and the GP's is doing something with his time the other 5 days a week.

Had a quick look last nigth but can anyone confirm that Crumpys 10 consecutive seasons (2001 to 2010) on the World Championship podium is a record. Record or not it's an impressive achievement. -

Leigh Adams finished about 11th so it's entirely irrelevant. Rune was 7th and Kenneth 8th, nobody was moved up. Scott was 15th by a bloody long way. Edit> I see them Wikipedia links confirm what I thought/remembered. Edit 2 > When Billy Hamill retired, Hans Andersen, first reserve replaced him. He was first reserve as the top non-qualifier in the GP qualifier. No other top 8 riders have ever retired apart from Hans Nielsen. -

Where do you get all that from? You're making it up. Quote rules. -

Its wrong though and I'd think whoever finishes 4th on the weekend would have the right to appeal this one. The rules are clear. AJ should not get the place.
