Olympic Stadium...gp?
SCB replied to emerald tyke's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Rubbish, when Newport were in the FA Trophy at the end of last season everyone in Newport was complaining about the price of hotels. Yes you could get hotels further away the other side of London but that being the case stay somewhere other than Cardiff but also within a 30 minute commute. -
If Hampel comes back on fire he won't need a wildcard.

Sitera is just a bit rubbish. He has balls of steel but no talent. He can gate form time to time and he probably gates as often in the EL as he does in the PL but he gets picked off. you tend to find gating tarts score similar in any league, Lubos Tomicek is another, averages 4.5 in the EL and PL and I'm sure he would i the NL too.

I can't can't believe Holder still has a job. I thought about 3 years ago he was rubbish. His average has dropped every year.

You can rent a studio flat for the month for that in the Bay!

Another issue was the rubbish advert. Nobody knows Harris, Hancock, Holder and Crump so them saying on camera talking about winning Cardiff meant nothing. You need to show racing, crashing and fireworks. -

Might upset you but I agree, a few of us said Saturday night that after 12 years we're not sure of the event has lost it's sparkle or if it's the familiarity of it all. -
The reality is, those who stay in the pub will be staying in the pub whoever/whatever is there. Those who get in early for whatever reason will continue to do so. You're never going to please everyone, after all, most of us can't agree on the speedway!

The speedway capacity is 63k. Half of that is 31k, not the 38 being quoted. I thought the crowd was massively down but also people have realised pay for the £29/33 tickets up the top too rather than the £50+ tickets on the lower tiers do BSI would have made less because of that.

I left feeling let down. No decent Brit, only the odd decent race (that semi was a classic though), crowd down do it seemed quieter but even so people seemed to be cheering less than normal. As for hotels causing the crowd to drop, last week nobody could find a hotel within 20 miles, so clearly thats not the issue, it's the day trippers. My 3 year old niece enjoyed her first GP experience. She got into it all a lot more than I did, flag, mouth horn and air horn. I'm not sure those around us appreciated the flag. -
But what you consider half decent, half the crowd consider crap and vice-versa. To get something half decent would cost money so you'd pay more for your ticket. It's just not viable. The pre meeting entertainment is something cheap to fill a gap. A lot of people must like Flawless though as they won a public vote of the British public. So it may not be your cup of tea but it is many others.

KK is 2nd reserve. That said, in 2003 Bomber got a late call up when Hans Andersen was injured on the Thursday night. i guess it depends if BSI was to sue the rules or bring in another Brit. -
Erm, you may have missed it, you're going to a speedway meeting, not a pop concert. If you want to see a popular music act I suggest you buy tickets to the gig of a popular music act.

Obviously the cricket and the SGP on the 25/26 is more popular than the Mardi Gras/Gay pride and the Harbour Festival. If you fancy socialising with the gays and the sailors thought I'm sure the hotels would welcome your £88. I've even got a sailers outfit that you can borrow, bit fo a result as it can be worn to both! I bet Sept 22/23 is expensive though, it's the annual cheese festival! -

As I posted elsewhere, if people like Walkabout then O'Neils is a decent enough replacement. Keep walking up the street from Walkabout (heading up towards the stadium), cross the road and O'Neils is there to your left. It's opposite the Prince of Wales (Wetherspoons) -

The Queens Arcade is actually quite posh. Oh who am I kidding?! Why the Queens Arcade? St Davids 2 would have made far more sense, it's the premier shopping centre in Cardiff. The Queens Arcade is a bit of a "well we can't have the best so we'll take the other one" Anyway, where abouts in the Queens Arcade is it? If you are down one end at 1pm for the start time, it would take you until 1.15pm to get to the other end so you could miss the draw. -

If you have a ticket for the meeting you can go into practice. Silly if you ask me, they should be enouraging anyone that wants to go into practice, they may decide to try the real thing the next day then too. -

You get a flag, a coat, a programme and a voucher for a hotel for the night. If you ask the counters you also get a beer and a hot dog.
