Time For A Revamp Of The Gp's?
SCB replied to dtc's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not if they only win 12 races all year compared to someone else who wins all but 12 races. -
I can see the logic in this one unlike some. Bob Smith (or Robert Ksiezak to most - Ksiezak is Polish for Smith) has in the past been a 5-6 point PL second string, he even had a handful of outings for Coventry in the EL. OK he's struggled for 3.xx this season but he's been out a year injured. Potentially given a run in a team he could get back even half way to his best, which is a 4.5 reserve/second string. Franchetti has never shown anything to suggest he is anything but a 3 point PL rider. As for Holder, he is a 4.5 reserve, to expect him to be doing any more thna he currently is seems a little harsh to me. That said, I'd never have signed him in the first place but having signed him it would be unfair to drop him for doing what most would expect. Gathercole - always been inconsitent, always will be. When he's good he can be immense but when he's bad he can be very bad. There no better rider out there on a 6-7 point average though. Maybe try swapping him and the Fisher over so he doesn't have to cope with heat 13, and parnter him with Kurtz so he doesn't have the pressure on him to win each heat as he knows Todd should get the 3rd at least - at present he has to win heats just for 3-3's most of the time.

Time For A Revamp Of The Gp's?

Why? your reward for making the semi's is that you have already scored the points in the heats. -
I do grumpy so well though

What has 2010/2011 winter farce got to do with it? Even assuming I'm wrong with this(and I still don't see it) - what else have I got wrong?
-
So again I ask, who finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th? Because if the referee didn't "immediately" exclude Nicki and let the race run it's cause he could not exclude Nicki, he had to "immediately" exclude him or not at all. Meaning that the result was Hancock, Pedersen, Crump, Johnasson(FX) - He could award Crump 3rd as he took evasive action after Greg had crossed the line. I agree it would have been harsh on Greg and Thomas Johnasson to re-run the race and the referee made a decision that tbf, makes a lot of sense but it's against the rules. If you immediately exclude Nicki, you have to rerun the race of Greg has not passed the line, if you wait for Greg to pass the line then you cannot exclude Nicki. I'm not going to get wound up about this one as I think the rule is crap and the referee actually made an exception call but if I was Crump I'd be furious.
-
Immediatly, NOT 3 second later after the leader has crossed the line. You can only award a heat that has finished but Nicki was excluded, so he was excluded immediately, thus the heat was not completed.
-
So who finished 3rd?! Nobody. As THJ never went over the line.
-
I agree with you but Greg had not finished the race. Do it could not be awarded. If Greg had been 30 metres further away then the referee would have been right. One other thing, top 6 covered by 12 points. So all to play for.
-
So nobody finished 3rd. Nicki excluded, THJ got outside assistance and Crump went off track (to avoid THJs bike). The referee got it badly wrong. Didn't see that winner coming! And how the hell did Greg score do much?! He looked pants all meeting, sign of a class rider I guess.
-
The real Nicki is back. Looking good but pulling desperate moves when he needs to. And Nigel is right, you can't award races. THJ didn't finish!
-
There is no rule to stop you dropping a rider and bringing him back in that season. In fact, there is no rule to stop you dropping a rider the season before and bringing him back the next year. The rule says, if you have a rider in your 1-7 at the end of one season, you cannot bring him back into your team the following year (unless it's in your intial team). No, there is just no rule that says you can't use R/R all year. So you don't need any special dispensation. It may be frowned upon but there nothing to stop it happening.

Gp Qualifier Berwick 16/6
SCB replied to Warm&Cosy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Tai wouldn't be the first rider to ride in a World Chamionship meeting with a broken bone. Drug up, have a few injections and score 8 or 9 from 3 or 4 rides and then go home to suffer the next day. If he really wants a GP place it's not impossible. -
TBF, if you're going to question someone, when the reasoning is pointed out to you, it's best not to be sarcastic. As next time you might nto get an answer and you'll just be left confused.
-
You've midread the title. You've read it as top 10 form riders. This is top riders on current form. A form rider would be someone who is riding above there usual level while based on current form is just based on recent meetings.
-
So people didn't go to a GP in the Czech Republic because of the Olympics in London in a few months time? Yeah, right. And you wonder why people are laughing at you!
-
Best Czech GP in years. Was that the 4 oldest riders in the final? I wrote Nicki and Crump off as top men this season, what do I know?! Standings make great reading now, nobody is stepping up, hope we get a 4-6 man race all season.

Grand Prix Millennium Stadium Accommodation
SCB replied to butkicker's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Tbf, if you're going to stay in university accommodation you may aswell contact Cardiff Uni for that. You can walk to the GP rather that needing a train and a bus each way. At the costs for a hotel, ignore them. Try searching for Cardiff Appartments. There's rubbish loads in the centre and the bay. If you want parking insure look for Appartments in Cardiff Bay. It's a 10-15 minute walk into the centre (and the stadium) from the Bay. And the locals are nice people we can even suggest placed to eat and drink (or not to!) I'll try and get some numbers for you. You may even be my neighbour for the weekend! -
It's a difficult one as technically, he had the minimum 3 rides. If you dont include them, what if a rider is late and only turns up for his last ride do scores MM3. Is that 3 from 3 or 3 from 1? I'm sure someone said "soon" - I'm not holding my breathe, they know now that us fans rip them to pieces so they'll keep them hidden.
-
They didn't include Scott Nicholls' MMM at BV last season. Despite him technically having 3 rides.

Leszno Gp 28th April 2012
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We've been told in the past we can't have a 2nd GP as we don't fill up the one we do. So why does Poland have 3 when they can't fill up the first one? Oh yeah, theres noone as foolish in the UK as the Poles to had over piles of cash to BSI/IMG. -
Gp Qualifier Berwick 16/6
SCB replied to Warm&Cosy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But we have threads elsewhere on the forum about helping the kids and questioning why British Speedway is in a mess. So to not complain when we see something thats not helping only makes us part of the problem. Yes, well done to Berwick on getting the meeting but it doesn't mean things can be bettered. -

TBF, could have just gone with the usual speedway thing of sticking an "o" on the end of his name, making his nickname "Teroo". Speedway people are not that original when it comes to nick names, it's always stick a "y" or an "o" on the end of the name. Craig saul at Rye gives some of their rider some amusing nicknames but at least he tries to make an effort! "Mr Big Stuff" is better than the totally original, "Neathy" for Chris Neath.
