  1. Around Coventry? Jesper, Charlie and Kenneth are all beatable. To be fair, can you see Ed beating Hans or Nicki anyway? BTW, you also forgot Puk and Bjarne So he Danish team is likely to be Nicki, Hans, Bjarne, Puk and Kenneth. Honestly, who can you see Ed Kennett beating? He scored 4 at Coventry this season, hardly strikes fear!! Olly or Ed, not a lot of difference, the major one being Olly CAN and HAS and DOES jumo out of the gate form time to time and beta someone he probably should not at Coventry, Ed doesn't. Leave Ed for Poland where he'll probably be in the 1-5, while at Covenry, have Olly as the reserve.
  2. If it was not for a dodgy exclusion last night, Olly Allen would have scored a maximum. How can anyone scoring an EL maximum (or nearly doing it) be dismissed for a SWC meeting at that track?! Some people seem to be forgetting that we "Cov boys" have watched a fair bit of speedway at Brandon so know who's good there and who's not.
  3. He's so predictable!! you just know coming off gate 4 he's going to struggle to stay on the bike!
  4. I'm no fan of the guy by a long way but he;s going some this year. He is doing a Rickardsson 2005 and Crump 2006 right now and fair play to him. As things stand, it's his title to throw away as nobody else can win it. To throw it away he needs a couple of bad rounds too the way the others are going!
  5. Don't rub it in I'd have loved to have been their tonight, I bet it was amazing. Bloody uni exams I'm pleased for you that you were there though. funnily enough, before the semis we were saying how great it was wathcing it form the pub and how only being there could better it and how we were all jealous of you. So how many really believed he could do this? Me, I had a few pound e/w on Bomber, however, by the time the semis started I no longer cared, I was just pleased Bomber had done so well, then when he passed Greg to make the final I realised I migt be about to make some money but still would not have bene unhappy had Bomber only finished 4th. When he come 3rd, the money was secondary, however, knowing I had put some faith in him made me feel even more proud of what he had done. I'm still smilling now. Just needs to win a GP this season now, Cardiff would be nice, as would Prague and Gelsenkirchen Someone reading this told me back in 1998 when we first saw Bomber as a 15 year old he'd be in the GP's one day and he'd be on of the top guys, it's the last time I doubt anything he says with regards to the potential of speedway riders From memory he only scored 5 or 6 in the CL that day too!
  6. BOMBER!!!!!!! Went to the pub tonight to watch the meeting and what an atmosphere.
  7. AFAIK, it's 10. So get Scott, Bomber, Simon, Lee, David, Ed, Floppy, Joe, Olly (James in Poland) and Lewis to practice. Then keep them in the pits while the meeting is taking place as mechanics/dogs bodies/motivators/for the experience along with Havvy, Chris Louis and Mark Loram. The Aussies get every British based Aussie in the pits it seems, why don't we do the same? I'm all for that. You paying?!
  8. Yes, the whole squad pratices THEN a team is declared. So the best way is to race Howe, Kennett, Allen and Norris (or Screen if you prefer) to see who gets the last place/reserve.
  9. Yeah, cos then he'd not have a bloody clue!! As it is, he does! I take it you mean Olly Allen the 6 point rider? (if Ed is 8, Olly is 6), there's 2 points between them but at Coventry, if Olly and Ed had a match race, I'd put my money on Olly! Swap Stead and Howe and you probably have the order of how good they are at Brandon too. I'd go with Nicholls, Harris, Stead, Richardson, Howe then wait until nearer the time to decide from Ed, Floppy and Olly for the reserve position. Eds never done anything at Brandon, so has to be flying (if the meeting was tomorrow, he'd be in), Floppy is pretty average and needs to be doing ok and Olly can stake a claim if he is riding well. In Poland, it's the top 6 in the averages, from the little I have picked up looking at Polish results I'd actually put Ed in the 1-5 and put David Howe in reserve. FOr that reason alone, Ed may get the reserve berth at Coventry and may even get a ride or two depending on the result. Another thing, I'd hope Middlo and the boys will romp to an early lead at Coventry then settle down and take second, so having to go to the race off
  10. Scott could do with learning to metaphorically speaking close the door on the 1st/2nd bend after the last GP!!! How many point did he throw away all together on bends 1 and 2? Must have been 5 or 6!
  11. It's a tracki Nicki P has always gone well on, Crumpy won't fail to make two finals in a row and AJ needs a good round after the last one to maintain his 4th place standing. So I expect them 3 to be in with a shout along with Hans who will also be keen to make a final. However, we seem to always have one shock/not so obvious rider, I'm going to predict Scott Nicholls or Chris Harris, because I'm biased!! AJ, Scott, Bomber, Hans simply because thats the 4 I have money on or have predicted in the prediction game Realistically, Crumpy and Nicki will be there.
  12. Of course I laughed, the idea of double points is ludicrous, the idea of being able to put your best rider out for double points in a weak heat is even more ludicrous! I'm all for in form riders coming into a heat.
  13. I believe this was the meeting where Ben Howe broke the track record. Scorers were, Newport 52 Anders Henriksson 13+1(5) Craig Taylor 7+1(4) Scott Swain(G) 3(4) Chris Neath 7(4) Ben Howe 13+1(4) Jon Armstrong 3+1(4) Chris Courage 6+1(4) Newcastle 40 Bjarne Pedersen 12+1(6) Grant MacDonald 2+2(3) Stuart Swales 2+1(4) Jesper Olsen 9(5) Andre Compton 11(6) including a second place golden double TS Darren Pearson 3+1(3) Rob Grant 0(3) Took place on 16th July 2000.
  14. Just noticed Scott Nicholls was using the same device at Swindon. No idea if he has used it elsewhere.
  15. I was appaled last year. It was 40 kronner outside the stadium for a pint (£1 give or take a little) yet inside they put the price up to 45 kronner!!
  16. I had problems last year, the site would not accept the first two cards I tried. I got their in the end with a 3rd card.
  17. It was there last year too. He's not the only rider with one either.
  18. It seems to have come from noewhre on occasions this year. I think he's making 1 gate a meeting now!! It was 2 ok starts on Saturday though, so he's used up the next GP's good start
  19. But it hasn't. First place now has twice the number of points the guy in 4th has, in the past they had 25 and 16, so not such a big gap.
  20. sorry Norbold. Off to do 100 lines of, "I must read others posts properly".
  21. But the top guys two only score 10 in the heats, then get the 2 in the semi, it's not impressive is it? The top guys (Hans, Nicki, Crump IMO) should be looking for 12+ in the heats, then 2 or 3 followed by another 2 at least. Not a great deal lost I agree but unlike last year where Crumpy could bum around in the heats, sneak in with 7, then ave an ok semi and get 2nd then win the final and it was perfect, this year, to do that would only be "ok" by Crumpy standards and he'd not descirbe it as a good result. Where as if he scores 12+3+4 I bet he'd see it as a much better result, despite the fact on the night it was not, in the series as a whole it is. Crumps 4th and a long way back from Nicki (relatively speaking), do you think he's happy? Intrestingly, the guy in 4th has 50% of the points the guy in first has right now, did that happen in the past? No? So have they really closed the gap betwen the winner and the rest? Cleary not!
  22. I agree with Grachan. It made every race more important and added a little more tention through the whole meeting but the final was a bit flat, it was just another race.
  23. Bomber scored 7 out of 15, how is that a discrace? Ok it was not a great result but small steps and all that. If he scores 7 in every GP he should be on the cusp of a top 8 place and how many riders have managed to make the top 8 in their first GP season? He's currently 9th best rider in the World, is that really so bad? What is this obsesion with some that to be a worthy of a GP place you have to be in the top 8? Because using that theory, half the rider in the GP series every year are not good enough for the GP's and should be replaced by 8 others, but then you'll still have 8 riders not good enough! Bomber did well, he is GB's second best rider (in theory), what was the let down yesterday was Subedeis favourite, Scott Nicholls! (about time he learnt how to ride the 1st/2nd bend in a GP, he's greta in league racing on the first bend but it's a completly different game). 9th in the World right now and a disgrace! Oh dear! What does that say about the 1000's of riders 10th or lower? Bomber did us proud, Scott on the other hand, oh dear, I'm starting to think Subedei may not be as mad as I thougth he was tho I still think Scott is a GP standard rider, he's just not capable of winning GP's.
  24. Scraping finals was well and good last year but now every point counts, you need to be scoring 16+ in each GP to be a real contenter, Crumpy is already down on that so needs a great GP now.
  25. Until I saw the last sentence I have quoted, I through you were talking about Monday at Poole!
