It's nothing to do with the EU and all down to promoters. They're the guys who lets most non-EU riders in on a 5 while EU riders tend to be 7 (with exceptions I ageee). The promoters will do anything they think they can do to gain an advantage over others today. Sod the ensuing years and the rubbish storm it causes.

Crashes You Couldn’t Believe A Rider Walked Away From
SCB replied to sparkafag's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Correct, didn't just walk away but climbed a ladder to get out of the garden behind the stadium. I'm sure he broke his pelvis though so maybe to say he walked away is pushing it, even if he technically did! -
If Greg Hancock "rose above" the accusation is hate to see him take exception to it and react to the situation!

Had Sheffield managed to take 10 (or more points) to Somerset I had planned to go tonight but I'm not going for a routine win. It'll be brilliant for the Somerset fans and I hope they all enjoy it but them winning at Sheffield kind of ruined it for the neutral - not their fault though, they had a job to do and did it. Frankly, they deserve the title, not a team manage gave a hope in hell, I seem to remember a lot of disparaging comments about their team back in the winter and very few actually rated it at all but they seem to have got it spot on as the younger, less experienced riders just seemed to have got better all season while Tungate has had a new lease of life. Now having won a fair few PL titles and looking set to win this years, can the Rebels move up into the EL? As I'd bloody love to watch the top guys around Somerset!

One of the best promoters. Saved and brought back too many teams to mention and I can't think of any controversy surrounding him. The sport needs more Tony Moles!
-
Piss poor wording. I tend to agree it says he can't be World Champ. You cant win something you're ineligible for. But I concede the bit about remainder of the season muddies things a bit. I think he need some punishment though. Maybe start next season on -25 points or something. Riders can't just walk out, even if you're Greg "walk out" Hancock who has now done it to Oxford, Reading, America and the Aussies fans at the GPs.

Gary Havelock as a promoter? You poor buggers. Was bad enough having him as a manager.
-
If Newman has signed before the AGM I hope the other promoters make up rules to screw over Poole. Then when the Poole fans complain we can quote them all from 2010s AGM when they said Coventry shouldn't have revealed their hand before the AGM.
-
Exactly! If your clutch level goes you'll drag at the start and stall when you try and stop, not lose power during the race. Typical Greg Hancock bullrubbish.

Oh God KK can be more "meh" than anyone but the other 50% of the time he's wild and amazing!

Nicki Pedersen Injured.
SCB replied to foamfence's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agreed. I think young Nicki was dirty, older Nicki is just hard and takes no rubbish. -
I think we're all agreed that Nicki and Emil are the two obvious. 9th has I believe always been given a wildcard so Matej and Magic could feel hard done by if they don't get a wildcard. But, IMO, if we're going to have a 4th Pole then KK is ahead of Magic. I like Magic but he's a bit meh at times.

Yes, at blatent cheating. Cheat are not liked, who would have thought that?

Glad I got up for it now. Hancock, hahaha! What a twit. So much for nice guy, the guy has just rubbish on the Aussie fans by having a sulk!
-
Sadly true. Just not got the enthusiasm to get up early to watch Hancock win a gifted World Title and frankly I don't give a crap who comes 2nd or 3rd. I doubt Tai gives a crap either, he wants to win as it's all that matters. The only thing I really care about is Lindgren finishes outside the top 8 so Bjerre doesn't get in. That aside it's just a speedway meeting now to me, nothing special or exciting. Such a shame after the SEC going to one of 9 being able to win it, it going down to a last heat decider where any of the 4 could win the title and the guy in 9th at the start of the day winning it. Bah.

There have always been and there will always be riders on a "steal" of an average. Some riders have bad seasons, you'll never stop that. Rolling averages goes some way towards addressing it.

Paul Starke has come on leaps and bounds since the EDR, he was just a bumbling along NL rider before it.

Which Speedway Clubs Are Making A Profit.
SCB replied to Sherborne Green's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Havelock announced a few weeks back that Redcar made a profit in 2016 -
It depends on the race format. Using the current format you need two(ideally 3) heat leaders but using the old format it's not quite so important. That said I've always been an advocate of sign a good top 2, a good reserve and then fill the gaps. Those 3 guys ride 15 (maybe more) of your 30 heats, get them right as they ride more heats than anyone else!
-
Ellis has a "reduction". Because he rode so much of the season in the 1-5 he had harder rides and kept his average down more than if he had been in reserve. If I had to sign an EDR, based on figures and what I saw this year, he'd be top of my list. Closely followed by Josh Bates.
-
I'd not be against that. I'm just thinking more along the lines of trying to bring along the next lot fo draft riders. But thinking about it you'd probably have Sarj, Clegg, Jacobs etc getting another season stuck in reserve if they got to stay in reserve.
