  1. But, they have since changed rolling averages from 28 to 20 and NOT done that retrospectively! Consistency eh? Don't you love it
  2. Thats all we can ask for from the Star! Thanks!
  3. Coventry re-declared twice in a short space of time. Between the two re-declarations Poole/Ford contacted Kildemand by text to "sign" him, lying that Coventry had dropped him when they were always re-introducing him. Coventry had to use 5 riders in a meeting vs BV (already using R/R) as although Kildemand was in attendance he wasn't allowed to ride, Auty lived too far away and Matt Ford knew out other double up rider was in a prison cell with Darcy Ward being questioned about an alleged sexual assault!
  4. From about '98 to 2003 and moving to uni I did ever single Newport home meeting bar about 3 or 4, then when I moved to uni I start going to Coventry on a Thursday/Friday and Newport on a Sunday during term time and Newport in the summer. I would also go to 5 or 6 Newport away meetings each year. By about 2006 I was going to almost all Newport and Coventry home meetings all season plus a dozen or so away meetings (not bad for someone who was a student so was basically spending ever single penny I had after bills on nothing but speedway). 2007 I attended every single Bees meeting, 90% of Newport home meetings and what must have been 15-20 meetings at other tracks as neutrals. By 2008 I'd started going less and less to Newport but more and more neutral meetings. I'd often finish work at 5pm and just decide to head to Wolves, Birmingham or Peterborough with zero planning. 2009 and 2010 I did pretty similar, all Bees meetings and lots of neutral meetings. Then the winter of 2010 happened and I not fed up in the winter but March 15th, day 1 of the season I was at Birmingham vs Stoke - I was watching Stoke FFS, away from home! In a challenge meeting! That year I was only really doing home meetings though, too many other EL promoters had conspired to kill off my club, like hell were they getting my money. I went to Lynn for Emil debut and Birmingham to see Emil. Then August 2011, we had the Kildemand text-gate farce. We all know what went on there. That was it for me. I stopped going pretty much completely. Didn't do another meeting that season. By 2012 I think Cardiff was my first meeting and I got the bug back and did about 5 meetings the following week. 2013, 14,15 and 16 have seen me go to more and more meetings but I've still only been to about a dozen this year. So yes, I stopped going because of the laise-faire attitude to rules, the corruption and the fiddling. And my dad whos been a fan since a young boy, named his first son after Shawn Moran and used to drag his young family a minimum or 50 miles (Swindon being the closed track 50 miles away) to a meeting every week no longer goes any more either. It's Cardiff every season for him, why? Hates the TR and hates the rules being abused. Im willing to accept if there was not so much on TV we'd probably go more often but it's not TV coverage that has stopped us going in the first place. In fact I seem to have been to a high % of Sky meetings since I stopped going every week. As I said above, shame really as 4 riders doing 4 laps is bloody brilliant.
  5. Many times. The sport is amateur, expensive and a farce. But my God it's bloody good watching 4 riders racing 4 laps. I have such a love/hate relationship with the sport!
  6. Having discussed this with a referee a few years ago it was agreed between the two of us that the only way you can exclude a rider for this is to claim the rear wheel is not in contact with the ground. Said referee had exclaimed Richie Hawkins the week before at Somerset and argued with him on the phone about if he was right or not and the referee was sure eh was right but was a little unsure himself!
  7. Chuffed for him. Honestly didn't see that coming pre-meeting, the way KK started I though it was his title then Nicki beat him and you just had a feeling he knew he'd won it then. But once you got to the semi with the points as they were it took a brave man to back any one of he 6 left in! Maybe not the best race meeting but because of the scores it was brilliant.
  8. No wonder it taking ages to inflate the fence. That guys put 100s of staples in it!
  9. I thought he rode much better than 5 points. Stopped on the line in one and had a good race win too.
  10. Lets be honest, if Bomber was 21ish you suggest he make an effort to go to someone like BV that he struggles on and would help further his career, but at 33(?) he should go somewhere he can ride and just make as much money as he can now. Thats Wolves.
  11. Good for him then! Frankly the entertainment the guy has provided me over the years he deserves every single penny he can get.
  12. The last two times BV have failed to score 40 away from home have been at Lakeside. So by BV standards this could be a drubbing. I'll go with 48-42 leaving BV happy going into the following weeks home leg.
  13. TBF Coventry don't have any meetings left. Our season is over. We used a junior for KK last night so Lakeside can use him as a guest in the play-offs rather rhan go with a guest so we're obviously willing to help out other clubs. Obviously it could all be a load of rubbish and just a silly rumour.
  14. Wolves have been a little tactically naive here. Should have got Thorsell to drop a point in his last meeting so he stayed at second string. Woffy can score 15 as heat leader or second string while Thorsell is a confidence rider and capable of 3 or 4 more at second string. That a pretty huge swing I've two meetings and taking into account 3 less for you is 3 more for the opposition.
  15. Exactly, "we" know it has to be a PL sub 6 pointer, Kings Lynn have said its a PL sub 6 pointer. But the club have forgot to mention who it is, hoping many people will assume it's a proper EL guest. Unless of course the clubs twitter has broken again.
  16. Except it wasn't. Don't let that get in the way of a good "fact" though.
  17. 3(ish) hours to go and no thread. Also, still not news on who will ride at number 1 for Coventry. No doubt the clubs twitter is not working again.
  18. Can someone explain how Dan Bewley was going to ride in this meeting if he was fit? It's re-arranged AFTER the BV Colts meeting at Coventry and the BSPA had already decided earlier in the year that original NL meetings come ahead of re-arranged meetings. Or did the BSPA get that wrong? Meaning Scunthorpe were right to appeal the guest for him?
  19. Why does that matter? Tungate was the first to break the rules.
  20. If only their could be 8 Chris Harris' and every team could have one. You just know he's going to be at any meeting he is due to be at, you never get dodgy excuses or him peeing off to a party or pointless practice sessions. Yes people mock him in the GPs, yes he's always got an excuse for why he hasn't done well but on track he is everything speedway needs more of. Whoever he signs for in 2017 is a getting a 100% committed rider, one who without the stresses of the GP series will probably put a point, maybe even 2 on his average - but best of all he'll do it in the most exciting of ways. Good Luck to Bomber where ever he goes. I'm sure that like Scott Nicholls he'll continue to get a great reception whenever he returns to Brandon.
  21. So because the people assessing averages are Muppets/corrupt then its ok?
  22. Could they? The list is secret AFAIK. Unless their are clear rules on how riders averages are assessed then its always open to abuse and complaints. Isn't it funny that it's always Poole that get riders on dodgy averages? Dennis Andersen, Vaclav Milik and now Lindback. Meanwhile just about every other assesed rider in the last 4 seasons has seen his average drop!
  23. For me, the issue is not signing riders for the play-offs. I'd rather Poole sign their "own" rider than use someone else rider as a guest. My issue is that Lindback has been given a 7 point average. You have Woffy averaging 8.41, Doyle 9.6, Zagar 7.55, Harris 6.77 and Lindgren 7.54. How the hell do those GP riders and their averages tie in with Lindback being a 7? And once again, the issue is with the BSPA, not actually with Poole. Why the hell do they let them get away with "stuff" all the time?
  24. Does make you wonder why they didn't run on Fridays. I imagine meetings were run on other days due to clashes but it seems it was a waste of time and effort as they clashed whatever day they raced! If only someone, somewhere could come up with a fixture compiler that limited the number of clashes, anyone know someone?
  25. Don't say you weren't warned a few days ago! Hopefully a Harris/Fricke swap of some sort can be agreed.
