  1. You see, I'm a bit of a prick. So if shutting off and having someone tun into me gets them excluded I'm going to do it! Call it team riding if you like.
  2. Poland got in first as R&R says, we just seem to be usless at picking up on these things, GP qualifiers (yet avoid clashes with GPs where there are less likely yo be clashes!) and doubling up clashes!
  3. So to confirm, I'm a speedway rider I have an engine failure. Rather than pulling onto the centre green I should roll around on the racing line, possibly even come to a stop on the racing line. That's all fine then? If someone hits me they're excluded? So what if a rider is right behind me and I just shut off? Who's fault?
  4. A big crowd comes out for something new or rare. Be that Nicki, Emil, Dudek or Zmarzlik. I'd also suggest that better quality riders do attract more fans as EL clubs do attract bigger crowds than PL teams. But I also agree it's value for money. If it was simply good riders with the odd rare appearance you'd change £100 to watch EL speedway and pay the top guys what ever they want. For me the EL at £17 is pushing it, PL at £12 and NL at £8 if in honest. It truly amazes me that PL and NL tracks charge so much. Hell NL clubs are only paying £10 a point and home and away that's only 100 points. £1000 yet sole are changing £13 to get in! Promoters at some NL clubs must be raking it in!
  5. That weekend in Cardiff is the international food and drink festival in Cardiff Bay (about 5 minutes on a bus or 10 minutes on the aquabus (thats a boat to you a me!) Where you're looking to stay is about 25-50 miles at a guess from Somerset Speedway and Cardiff Millennium Stadium. That said, IF you can find somewhere in Cardiff you can be back in Cardiff in an hour after the speedway has finished in Somerset - allow 2-3 hours to get their due to Friday evening traffic. If you want to play it safe you can always leave earlier and head to Weston-Super-Mare which is about 20-30 minutes from Somerset Speedway - visit the legendary British seaside If you decide to go by train Cardiff Central is as close as you can get to the Millenium Stadium without being in it. I often joke that I can get off the train, step into Burger King for food, strole 2 minutes to the pub, 30 second to the bookies, a minute to the ticket office for a ticket and then 2 minutes to the stadium. It's perfect. It's probably the best way to do it tbh, by all means drive and as you head into Cardiff follow the signs for the park and ride system - fine on the way in but a few years back I managed to walk home, get changed and walk back into town for a night out (I should point out I lived about a 20 minute walk form the stadium at the time) while some people were still waiting for the buses back to the park and ride - so if you do drive, I suggest not rushing back to the car if you can avoid it. Try and find somewhere to get something to eat in the centre of Cardiff (there loads of choice but being a Saturday night it all gets busy and it can help to book ahead). TBH if you're getting a train I'd also try and see if you have time to get a beer or food before you get the train as the station will be packed with others doing the same and you'll be squashed on to a train with other fans! Lastly, enjoy. I warn you now, if you get in within 30 minutes of start time when the majority of fans have already got in as you enter the actual stadium from the walkways around the outside the noise and atmosphere is like nothing else. I've done it 15 times now and every time I get goosebumps and a huge smile.
  6. Im proud of the fact I have stayed very calm with them. At the end of the day the person on the other end of the phone is not to blame. I've been promised about a dozen call backs and got 3. And now I have to wait until Friday for a call back about the fact they offered me free BT sport for a year after a cock up and compensation for the 4 failed appointments. They don't seem to care that Friday is no good to me I'll be in work for 7.5 hours! Why they couldn't sort it out in the hour I was on the phone with them yesterday I do not know. Ive been logging my phone calls to them and I'm now up to just short of 6 hours, 5 hours and 52 minutes since Jan 29th when I signed up. They failed to arrive for 3 appointments, turned up at one to activate a line but didn't know I was meant to be having broadband and then had to have another appointment a week later for the broadband. If you miss an appointment they charge you £175, they miss and appointment and you get £10!! Ive got very little choice to stick with them. As one of the lovely operators told me when I wanted to cancel back in February after the 2nd failed appointment, "BT Outreach provide the infrastructure for all suppliers, if you want a phone line you have to go through us either directly or indirectly". And they do work out significantly cheaper than than anyone else for broadband and BT Sport though! Just a shame it takes them so many attempts and phone calls to get the services right and now 2 bills in they're still over charging me! I certainly WONT be renewing when the contract ends. Now the line is installed I'll be switching to anyone that is NOT BT. As for BT Sport, I'll probably just do what people on here are doing. Illegal and immoral it may be but these people want to give me £20 for two failed appointments when the one was cancelled the day before by email (when I had not internet!) and they think the one where the phone line was installed counts as a success, I don't as they needed another appointment for the broadband! Thats immoral, 4 days of my live and they want to pay £20. 4 days of my life is about £750 to me, that a lot of free BT sports I have to get before we're even! We all get a bit carried away on here. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and relax. It's an internet forum, it's not life or death and not worth silly arguments (unless it's with starman, he's a plonker)
  7. I just dont get how British Speedway is so rubbish at arranging fixtures that riders can attend?! Why is it so hard?!
  8. People have NOT be abusing the system. The system is rubbish. It's offensive to suggest people have been abusing a system when they're using it properly, ie they're showing valud NUS cards as requested.
  9. Hard not to include the guy who scored a paid max in his last away meeting really. Bit of a kick in the gonads for Kennett though! Signed for the season and has now basically wont get meetings while Lawson is doing well but can't even sign for another team! Mind you, Barker signed up for that at Coventry, fool!
  10. What is? If the deal is open to NUS card holders and these people have an NUS card what is fraudulent? Anyone working for an educational establishment will generally as one of their work place benefits be eligible for an NUS card (I was, I know of two others who are). Are they "abusing" the system? Is what they're doing "fraudulent"? If someone was printing their own student card that would be fraudulent. Bear in mind this statement, "We require proof of full-time student status, and therefore an NUS card will be required to gain entry at the student rate." from Coventry Speedway! The issue is that an NUS card is NOT "proof of full-time student status" and never has been. It's proof you're a member of the student union.
  11. Except it really wasn't. People were tweeting the club before the first meeting to ask what constituted a "student" and then they were told NUS card holders. So if you had an NUS card that was deemed enough, nowhere else was there any other convoluted rules of "spirit" or "what they meant". If they didn't mean NUS card holders they should have explained this. The point is they didn't know and they don't know now do they? If they had some clear rules they would state them, the fact they have removed it (possibly as a temp thing) suggests they didn't know themselves! I think telling people they "abused" the offer is pretty pathetic when they asked on twitter and got an answer. So for the stupid people, who was the offer aimed at? Bearing in mind the club posted this yesterday afternoon 6 hours before removing the student price, "STUDENT ADMISSION Monday April 04, 2016 COVENTRY wish to clarify the arrangements for student admission at Elite and National League meetings this season. We require proof of full-time student status, and therefore an NUS card will be required to gain entry at the student rate. We hope this clarifies any previous confusion over this issue."
  12. This x100. The number of times hes done something and had to back track is silly now. I genuinely think the guy always means well and has the best of intentions though.
  13. Surely the solution is anyone they're not convinced is a real student is given the benefit of the doubt that meeting but is asked or further proof for the next meeting. Most people will have an admission letter from university/college. It's not an impossible hurdle to over come. The issue is that the club didn't actually state who the offer was aimed at. It was typical speedway without any explaination. Without any T&Cs a student price that allows NUS card holders in is just that. Am I to assume that when I genuinely had my NUS card 2 years ago (wasn't a student but worked an educational company) that any company offering a student discount wasn't offering it to me? What was I meant to be looking for? How was I to know if McDonalds "spirit" of the offer was aimed at full time students or me? What about the cinema? They all said NUS cards so I claimed the discount. Same now with Coventry Speedway. It comes back to Mick Horton saying/doing something but getting it wrong/not understanding it.
  14. How is it being abused? They stated NUS card holder, if people have an NUS card then that gets them in for £5. Well it did. Another idiot up by Mick Horton and another knee jerk reaction.
  15. I apologise to anyone I called a gypo for stealing BT sport. Fill your boots. After taking 5 appointments and 8 weeks to install broadband and then being told I'd have compesation and 12 months free BT sport in HD I have got my second bill today and run up to complain I dont have the compo or the free BT Sport for them to have no record of it. BT are truly inept, they make the BSPA look like leaders of industry! I don't blame anyone for wanting nothing to do with BT and preferring to steal feeds in stead!
  16. Will Somerset vs Rye House be rerun then? As Rye House have lost out if not.
  17. You'll never know if its been a success or not. For all you know without the draft half a dozen may have retired, a few more dropped back to the NL. But equally a couple may have found themselves into an EL 1-5 by now. It's impossible to decide if it's worked or not. All I know is that no riders career seems to have been messed up after as promising start but a couple of lesser riders do seem to have made a go of it. Paul Starke had been around a while but since the draft started has come on massively. And part the reason Joe Jacobs is only a draft rider is because no PL team signed him last year (yet weirdly hes back this year despite having no PL team!)
  18. So sod the fans, Lynn and Coventry didn't want to announce it and thats how it should be? Shouldn't promoters be keeping fans informed at all times? Certainly when the staging club is promoted by the man who promised openness and transparency. Not a good start is it when he's already been caught holding information back.
  19. Apparently Buster heard a shower was arriving in Kings Lynn Monday evening. What he didn't realise is that the person that told him was referring to the Coventry team
  20. Like the BBC and F1 this year? The compensation could be peanuts. It seems odd that Lynn have postponed this meeting AFTER Sky decided not to show due to the weather. Maybe as simple as not wanting to run on a Monday if they're not forced to by Sky?!
  21. The stats suggest you're wrong. King averaged more as a second string than Zengota did in 2015 and more than him in 2013 when they both rode in the EL. There's very little between them but messed up averages rate Zengota a point higher.
  22. If this is Buster Chapmans idea of openness and transparency then he's thick, biased or both.
  23. Zenghi is the same as King. Good second string, poor beat leader. Also has the handicap of an inflated average that'll drop a point, at least.
  24. Its a numbers game. If you can find a 9.5 rider to replace King then sure, why not? In the Garrity vs Woryna debate, well Garrity is averaging more. Woryna is only averaging 4.00 yet we can bring in a near 7 point rider for him! And I'd love to wake up and find Dougie Poynter naked in my bed and a million pound in my bank account. The reality is 100k and a local slag from Grindr is more likely! Sometimes you have to take what you can get TBF, Doyle aside, what rider has performed for Leicester in the EL? And he'd be a second string for us so meet second strings and reserves rather than heat leaders.
  25. Auty missing Lakeside last night means Starke could have a meeting at 1!!
