Its actually Friday's meeting at Brandon that matters. Kyle has to score 3 more than Adam to go into the 1-5. I say I to the 1-5 but whichever one moves up will be a heat leader with Kirtz dropping to reserve and Buzz dropping to second string.

Reserves move into the main body of the team if they're good enough. And good team managers will know reserves make a huge difference and make sure they sign good reserves. You've hardly made a ground breaking discovery here. Coventry finished 2nd in the league last year with a team about 2 points short of the limit, how? They had an amazing reserve! They made the play-off final the year before despite their 1-5 being pretty ordinary, why? They had a great reserve. It's how it works and always has worked. Very few winning teams have poor, ordinary or average reserves, its so rare that last years Edinburgh team was a really weird anomaly in that neither reserve averaged 4!

Edinburgh Vs Berwick Fri 8th
SCB replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can't drop below 5. So unless Clegg gets his rolling average over 5 at some point (and can't see that happening any time soon from 3.8) then Etheridge stays in the 1-5 on a 5. And as the rule state you can't drop an assessed rider Edinburgh are stuck with him! -
People moan about Newman but he's not even Poole best reserve this season! Assuming the rules are as written in the rulebook and not what are in the Bournmouth Echo then Ellis will be a heat leader a week Friday while Newman is still hanging around in reserve.

Lakeside V Poole Ela. 8/04/16
SCB replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well I didn't expect that. I had this down as a pretty easy 10 point away win. What a piss poor effort from the Poole heat leaders! -

Phil the Ace a sycophant? You have the wrong BV fan there. -

I like that but joking aside, after Coventry won down at Poole in 2010 (remember that night people?!) the Poole riders and managed sulked like little kids. But not Davey, he was out signing autographs and congratulating the Bees fans. Up to then I'd never thought much of him but my respect for him shot up then. -

I bet they have piles of money in Panaman bank accounts too! -

So the rumours at Bomber meeting that the track would not be ready for 4 weeks are proving to be correct then. What a bunch of Muppets running BV. -
Lies, damn lies and statistics I was going to start a thread about rain-offs but twisted it to this

Polish Horror Crash On Sunday-they Both Walked Away
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Again, do the Poles have an "under power" rule? -
But speedway is getting safer. We've only had two instances of injured riders missing meetings! Both at Scunthorpe so the cynic in me just says that Simon Stead and Morten Risager just don't like the the Scunny track I thought I'd post it as normally by now we have people on here claiming we've had more injuries than ever now, but we do seem to have genuinely had less. Just Steads concussion and Risagers foot(?)

Isn't it funny, you say that but anyone who has been a school child in South Wales in the last 30-odd years has nightmares about the place. I went on about 6 school trips there and the thought if going back scares me

Polish Horror Crash On Sunday-they Both Walked Away
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This happened in Poland. What are Polish rules? GP or British Speedway I'd expect Dudek to go. If Polish Speedway says something like, "the rider in front has right or way" then the referee is correct. -
Newman will be a heatleader in 3 or 4 meetings time. How much will that push him? While Garrity gets the easy pickings at second string! Lamberts progress makes Harris look pathetic. Harris averages were 4.24, 7.26 (all from reserve) and then 7.5 before making the jump to 9.3. He had still not raced EL at that point (guest bookings aside), it was another 2 season before he averaged about 6.5 in the EL (mainly from reserve) and it took until he was 22 to become an EL heat leader. Lambert, in an admittedly weaker EL has done it at 17! You're right about his gating but if he doesn't exceed everything Harris has then what a massive failure based on his progress to date. Not that what a rider is doing at 16/17/18 is a real guide as to how a rider will end up - look at Risager!

In 2000 Exeter put both reserves (Bobby Eldridge and 17yo Chris Harris) in heat 15 vs Glasgow. Exeter at that point had recorded 34 consecutive home 5-1s having beat Arena Essex 75-15 the week before. Chris Harris finished 3rd behind team mate Bobby Eldridge and Glasgow guest Scott Swain.

Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 6/4/16
SCB replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Except he won't. Newman will have 4 meetings in reserve, go up to heat leader (and Kurtz to reserve and Buzz to second string) where his average will drop significantly and he'll end up back in reserve. By then Watt will drop to second string where he proved last year he's a 7 point man. Expect Watt, Hans and to play musical heat leaders and swap all season - Newman may get another spell in the 1-5 and it may co-include with Watt being the lower of the top 5 riders but I'm not convinced any of Pooles HLs (Holder aside) are capable of consistent heat leader scoring but all of them are capable of phenomenal second string scores to stop them getting low enough to drop to reserve. -
Why? What does he gain doing that? What do Piole gain doing that? Are these 4 meetings Kyle gets in reserve now going to hold him back?
-
Totally different issue. And certainly not Kyles fault.

This claim always makes me laugh. As run down and shabby as Brandon now is, it still one of the best speedway stadia in the UK. How many are genuinely better? And if you think Leicester, Redcar, Somerset or Scunthorpe are better then you're mad and frankly, that all Coventry will be getting.

Poole Pirates Vs Lakeside Hammers 6/4/16
SCB replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He's just not a heat leader any more. Did the vast majority of his scoring at second string last season, struggled in his few meetings as a heat leader then too. He'll be fine once he drops to second string. -
Ambition and progress is not asking for something and being given it. It's wanting something and working for it, which is what Kyle is doing. Hes trying to get into the 1-5 with a team of very good riders. Meanwhile Garrity has been given the place but has 3 worse riders than him in the team so is not likely to be in reserve. Doesn't make him better than Newman, just better than the other riders in the Bees team - others, weaker riders who are in the Bees team because Garrity wouldn't start in reserve. Jason has no proven anything or earned anything. And staying in the 1-5 of the Bees team will be nothing special, he'll just be staying ahead of two PL second strings. Meanwhile for Kyle to do it, with his lack of ambition, he has to get ahead of an Aussie Champion, a Polish SWC rider, a rider who finished top 3 of the season before lasts EL averages, a recent World Champion and someone who has been a heat leader in the EL for about 12 years! And Adam Ellis of course. Yeah, what a fool Newman is, trying to stay ahead of any 2 of that lot! If Garrity had started in reserve the Bees could have had Stead and Barker at 2 and 4 and THEN he would have show ambition if he'd fought to get ahead of them. But no.

Pretty much any report you look at shows that OAPs on average have a greater disposable income than someone under 35. For a start most have bought their home by then and that saves them on average £900 that someone under 35 is probably paying on their mortgage!

Cardiff Saturday 9th July 2016
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
DONT get the supporters bus form Bristol to Cardiff. It takes twice as long as the train does, from the train station! You may as well pay less and get their quicker on the train. It's £12.60 for the train vs £16 for the bus and the bus takes 30 minutes just picking people up in Bristol before a 45-50 minute journey to Cardiff while he train will be in Cardiff in about an hour! -
I bet Cradley, Birmingham and Eastbourne are 3 of the most successful club in GB speedway in terms of making money!
