  1. Why should we not be attending public gatherings. Not all medical conditions are visible. Myself and many others are able and entitled to make the most of our lives and that includes enjoying/watching sports/theatre/cinema etc. If I felt unwell I would not be going out in the first place. Just because some of us can't wear a mask doesn't mean we have to lock ourselves away, understanding and tolerance is needed in these uncertain times by everyone.
  2. Article says " fans should note under current circumstances everyone must wear a face covering within the Adrian Flux Arena" Are the rules different in Kings Lynn, can anyone enlighten me, I thought they only had to be worn in shops etc not in outdoor open spaces and as far as I am aware they weren't worn at Scunthorpe. This is a genuine question I'm not trying to be sarcastic etc as I would like to go to the meeting but am unable to wear a face covering.
  3. I'm no air conditioning expert but I reckon outdoors has to be better than 're circulated air. As for toilets, bars etc I think it will probably be up to us fans to try and keep our distance and not all rush to the loos during the tractor race. I hope there will be some racing this year and if there is I will be there but it is beginning to look doubtful unfortunately. It seems that "stadiums" have all been lumped together under one umbrella even though football stadiums are usually fairly full and stadiums with small sports like ours are not being assessed separately.
  4. I suppose it will ultimately depend on what clubs want to run and what riders are willing to ride, obviously there would have to be a lot of give and take on all sides and possibly 're allocating of some riders perhaps.
  5. Why not merge all the Premiership and Championship clubs who want to run into one league for this year, call it Pandemic Challenge league perhaps, at least there would be some speedway this year
  6. So pleased for these lads, sadly we've been denied the pleasure of watching them race so far this year. I see Neil Vatcher is looking for sponsors to help with tyres etc wouldn't it be great if they managed to get all their tyres sponsored - start looking down the back of your sofas people as we've not been able to go out and spend much in the last few months you must have some spare mouldies knocking about somewhere "every little helps" as a well known supermarket keeps telling us.
  7. Where there's a will there's a way. If promoters want Speedway they should go all out to make it happen. Most people have access to a mobile phone and/or the internet perhaps a contact list could be operated by the stadium on entry ie name, contact details and if there is a reported case people are contacted via a group email or text or perhaps register with the club via a link on their website with your name and contact details, then the list is left with turnstile staff and if your not on the list you don't get in. Admittedly it will take longer to get through the turnstile but the gates usually open at least an hour before the start and could maybe open earlier. It will also take a lot of trust on both sides and patience by everyone but if we really want speedway back us supporters need to stop being so negative and try to help the promoters make it happen. Surely I can't be the only one with a few ideas most of us have been going Speedway for years and some of you have probably got a few better ideas than I managed to come up with in 10 minutes.
  8. Exactly, but I'm happy to come out of my air raid shelter if there was somewhere I'd like to go, ie speedway, theatres - indoors, etc but as someone in a previous quote said "not if I have to wear a muzzle"
  9. Entirely agree with you. Also it's apparently one rule for all depending on whether you want to follow it or not. Was in a pub yesterday lunchtime, booked our table, had lunch and a drink while watching a group of 30 or so who had reserved all the tables in the conservatory for a party for a 3 year old, loads of kids running about, adults not socially distanced and obviously not from one family/bubble as the rules say and pub staff say nothing. Life has to go on but in a free country we should all be allowed to live it as we choose and not how we are told to live it. Yes the Virus is serious but everybody has their own problems as well, surely now life should be able to return to normal as long as we all take precautions for our own health (and in case anyone hasn't guessed by now yes I am pretty pissed off with the whole situation but I'm probably in the minority whose views don't count with the powers that be)
  10. All the new Virus rules must be a nightmare for venues to sort out, still if we can't watch speedway this year we can always go to Alton Towers, Legoland etc as theme parks are now open - does all this make sense - well it doesn't to me
  11. I'd be there - and in front of you at the turnstile (ha ha)
  12. I'm at the vulnerable age but my thinking is "lots of things in life are a risk, none of us (young or old) know what's round the corner, enjoy life while you can". I have spoken with relatives who are only in their late 30s who are frightened to go shopping etc, that's no way to live I intend to make the most of whatever time I have left, I'll be as sensible as possible but I will not shut myself away.
  13. I suppose it may depend on stadium owners/staffing etc, hopefully things will become clearer in the next week or so, we might even get a bit more info before the British Speedway Quiz live on YouTube at 8.30 tomorrow night (We never get more than 20 out of 40 but still enjoy taking part)
  14. Sorry not very good at posting links but have a read on the official Speedway GB website, looks to me like we'll get some speedway this year and I for one can't wait. The Virus is a concern but I'll be taking sensible precautions as far as possible and I reckon us spectators will be able to social distance ourselves to the same extent that we are able to do in Tesco or a pub. Anyone who feels really worried about the Virus should perhaps not go but my attitude is life must go on and I'll be there (weather permitting. Official British Speedway @SpeedwayGB
  15. Theatres can open outdoors with an audience so surely speedway can run as long as everyone is sensible
  16. The following has just been announced, surely now speedway can start up at the beginning of August. "Pools, gyms and sports facilities will be able to reopen and team sports and outdoor gigs resume in England, the government has announced. Outdoor pools and performances can resume from Saturday with social distancing in place, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said. Beauticians, nail salons and tattooists can also reopen from Monday, he said. Indoor gyms, sports facilities and pools will be able to reopen from 25 July. Guidance will be published for team sports to return from Saturday."
  17. Yes, I am missing Speedway and have been hoping since March that there will be Speedway this year. With the latest rumours that the 2 metre rule may be reduced to 1 metre when the pubs open I see no reason why Speedway meetings can't run, it's an outdoor non contact sport (usually) and supporters can easily social distance on the terraces and can use common sense when using the loos, queuing for chips etc. Football has started, all be it in empty stadiums and the physio etc were wearing masks and treating injured players on the pitch, my local outdoor food market opened this week and it was packed with shoppers who were certainly were not socially distanced. It now needs Rob Godfrey etc to put the Speedway case to the appropriate authority and the rest of us who want to see Speedway back to keep our fingers crossed.
  18. First time ever I bought my GP tickets well in advance but expect at some point I'll be offered a refund and booked Travelodge on flexi rate minutes after last year's GP finished and got a really good price, was really surprised when I looked that rooms were actually on sale so far in advance. Oh well people's lives must come first hopefully things will go back to some sort of normality in the not too distant future. Stay safe everyone.
  19. Tickets are also still being sold for the GP at Cardiff but I wonder what chance that has of going ahead as planning is underway to use the Principality Stadium as a 2,000 bed hospital for Coronovirus patients.
  20. Well done Eastbourne, love Question of Sport, don't know hardly any of the answers without cheating due to brain getting old plus only been an Eagle fan for a couple of years but I love reading Eagles website. After last Saturday's I was really really looking forward to tonight's streaming of a meeting but then saw it will be the 2019 home nail biter against Leicester with the last heat decider. Anyone who wasn't there that night will really enjoy it, for those of us who were there - can you really bear to watch it again, don't know if I can, I'm still speechless over the score (trying hard here not to give anything away to anyone who doesn't know what happened). All I can say is watch it if you can ! Keep up the good work Eastbourne/Ian Jordan, we'll be back as fans and can't wait for the day. Stay safe everyone.
  21. Cardiff GP is looking vulnerable as they are going to turn the stadium into a temporary corona virus hospital. Stay safe everyone.
  22. World of Books also showing one of them, it's £3.99 second-hand but it's free postage
  23. Try Amazon I typed in History of Hull Speedway and 2 showed up but I can't post the link
  24. This virus is serious I'm not suggesting I will go if over 70s are banned i will have to follow the rules and the chances are Speedway wont be running anyway. What I do think though is to tell over 70s to stay indoors for a long period of time is not going to stop the virus it will though help to protect vulnerable people but surely common sense can prevail, stay in if your ill or vulnerable, if your healthy going for walks etc but not having direct contact with others can't do any harm, better than sitting in, none of us know when our time is up why waste it.
  25. And apparently Matt Hancock has just announced it is going to happen.
