Plymouth Gladiators 2022
hammer1969 replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Us Eastbourne supporters were "assured" we'd get our refunds by the end of September and we're still waiting. I'd be more than wary of going anywhere near a club were Ian Jordan still has connections even if he supposedly has nothing to do with the speedway he is still strongly linked to the arena where Plymouth ride. -
The Ben Fund would be good as well but will they have to find money for the new airfence first.
-
I'll be there if some meetings are arranged for 2022 send it will help to keep the fan base together.
-
How about re naming this thread "Eastbourne 2023" it may make it stand out more, I will still looking at the out of date and hopefully soon to be forgotten thread.
-
Good news on Eastbourne Eagles website they probably won't be running in 2022 but plans are in place to be back in 2023 - hope its at least Championship Level and that Tom Brennan returns.
-
Maybe BUT Ian Jordan said everything owed would be sorted by end of September and all we have had is excuse after excuse, there is nothing stopping him making a further statement on the situation, the silence coming from his quarter is doing him no favours. If and I say if, there are genuine reasons for riders and fans still not receiving money they are owed and were promised why doesn't he say so?
-
As a longtime sponsor of Eastbourne I wonder what Les Fineings thoughts are on this fiasco? Hope it doesn't affect his ongoing health but I don't expect he will be rushing to sponsor the Eagles again should they re-open. Ian Jordan has much to answer for but i suspect he may never be seen or heard from again (unless he has the audacity to show his face at Plymouth).
-
I wonder where this all leaves Les Fineing of Fineprints as according to Companies House records he is joint shareholder with Ian Jordan which I would imagine would make him 50% responsible for any monies owed. Last time I heard Les Fineing mentioned at Arlington he had just come out of hospital after having heart surgery
-
Just wondering has anyone had their refund recently? Apparently there's a bit in the Speedway Star about the riders still haven't been paid. Perhaps it's about time Mr. Jordan came clean and told the truth but I suppose that's too much to ask.
-
BUT Rye House from their last season were the original Dad's Army but they never lived to tell the tale.
-
Brilliant, I love it.
-
According to the listing on Companies House he is a Director and PACE is still active. If I was a Plymouth supporter I'd be getting worried. The following is what was on the Plymouth website in January "The club have also announced Ian Jordan has moved away from his speedway role in order to focus on their PACE (Plymouth Arena Community Events) project aimed at ensuring the long-term security and stability of The Coliseum stadium and Plymouth Speedway."
-
Totally agree but I think it will take a while to 're build the trust of fans and sponsors but I really hope someone can come in and do it. I loved my visits to Eastbourne and hope I will be able to again in the not too distant future.
-
I'd support Eastbourne again but would have to be at Championship level at least as I have a very long journey each way to Arlington but I will never again buy a season ticket, too much damage has been done to fans trust etc by this fiasco.
-
Perhaps it's time Lee Kilby and Trevor Geer made some sort of statement on the situation as co-promoters.
-
Small claims court next move maybe?
-
Just wondering have you had your Monday update yet?
-
He obviously doesn't consider himself as part of a team, wonder what the rest of his team mates think of the situation. No way should he be picked by whoever the Scunthorpe Promoter is as this is making him and whoever runs the BSPL look really stupid for putting up with it. Now I come to think of it the name Rob Godfrey springs to mind, is he that thick skinned that he does not realise the further damage this is doing to what might be left of Speedway

So their Accountants will be working on this over the weekend as will their Branch Business Manager (presumably at the Bank), someone will be raking up the overtime money. We will be getting our refunds no later than Monday 11th October but also on Monday 11th Ian Jordan will send an exact timescale ? So not only will these people be sorting it out at the weekend they will also have time to update Ian Jordan who in turn will have time to do another couple of pages of updates for us - sorry I meant couple of pages of bullrubbish for us. I held my ticket purchased in 2019 over to 2021 more fool me taking everything at face value but I won't be buying another season ticket for any track in the future.
-
Me neither, these refunds are dragging on a bit too long.
-
The stadium certificate was turned down in the Spring of 2020 as work was required before it could be issued and it appears to me that most of the promoting, rider retaining payments, vans advertising and other costs etc for the forthcoming season had already been incurred during late 2019/early 2020 before the stadium problem of renewing the certificate due to the work needed became apparent to the owners of the stadium. Presumably the owners then informed the Stockcar and Speedway promotions of the problem.
-
Agree, speedway could do with more people like Ian Jordan.
-
With Jason Edwards appearing to be first on the chopping block, he's a tryer but it seems he's being used like a football at the moment. Hope he gets a Championship place next year.
-
Paying off all debts before the company is wound up in 4-6 weeks is exactly what Ian Jordan said they are going to do and I'm sure they will be true to their words. Any new management coming in at Eastbourne I am sure won't end up like Newcastle promoters have. Love or hate my next comment but most people learn from their mistakes and I for one would go back to Eastbourne in 2022 if Ian Jordan was still in charge as I saw the efforts put in by that promotion during 2019 to bring in new supporters.
