Rye House V Leicester Lions 11/04/2018
hammer1969 replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
My thoughts on stadium. PR should start at the beginning ie car park which in my opinion is good enough to use as a motocross track first sight of it is enough to put any nubies off. If you get past that although there are alterations inside stadium from when Len was there I wouldn't call them improvements. From where I sat in the stand on the home straight the view of the 2nd bend was slightly obscured and the mist and rain last night made matters worse. If you have mobility problems and usually watch from near the fence on the flat I think you may have trouble seeing the riders going down the back straight (especially if you have to sit in a chair/wheelchair). The seating that was under the referees box last year has been rebuilt with scaffolding and wooden steps which are definitely not user friendly for people with mobility problems. The ref is now in a porta cabin and hopefully can see all the track. Oh well perhaps thing's will look better when the weather improves, I will go again but am not impressed with "improvements" hopefully the team can make up for that. -

Track looks ok hopefully we won't get any rain. Piles of mud on centre green bit of an eye sore as long as it doesn't interfere with the speedway I suppose we will have to live with it but we've moved from our usual seats already. -

In the car park, gates not open yet. Weather's damp, cold and a bit misty. Already a queue to go in. A boat in the car park would be preferable to a car hope the tracks in better condition. -
Really hope the weather holds up for you and the team think us fans all have everything crossed

I see Kings Lynn have already cancelled tomorrows meeting and looking at the weather forecast I reckon Rye v Leicester is looking doubtful as well. I know Steve Jenson tries hard to get the meetings on but perhaps its better to make an early decision to cancel than to start the meeting and have to stop at heat 10 which most fans hate as scores can change dramatically in the last 5 heats. All I want is for this bl??dy rain to stop so the speedway season can actually get started.

I mentioned that in a previous post i made "still fail to see how the BSPA will be able to pass the track/stadium especially after reading rules 9.2.4 and 9.2.5.1". I presume a licence been granted or surely we would have heard something by now but as the rules basically say "essential equipment should be as near to the middle of the centre green as possible" I can't see how the paramedics can be in the middle now and I would say their equipment is definitely essential as the meeting can't start unless they are in attendance.

He's supposed to be at Rye House on Wednesday night - will he be able to be in Poland as well or will Rye House need a replacement?

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2025
hammer1969 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Freeview Freesports. On 21st March there was an upgrade done to the TV receiver at Crystal Palace which has resulted in many homes particularly in the South/South East losing some of their Freeview channels, me included as I noticed I'd lost Freesports 95. I phoned Freeview helpline, 03456 505050, and basically there is a Government scheme whereby Freeview send out an engineer to sort the problem and if necessary replace your TV aerial and its all free of charge. Hopefully my problem will be sorted by next week. I hope this info is of use to anyone with the same problem. -
To me it looks like big piles of mud and lots of potholes - bit like the car park! Still looking on the brightside its a good place for the riders to practice their gardening

Premiership Somerset vs Rye House 04/04/18
hammer1969 replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just read on website Rye v Somerset and Somerset v Rye are both off tomorrow -
Probably a slip of the pen (keyboard) but looks like next meeting might be Wednesday 11th. As for the rest of your post totally agree with you, as a fan I certainly feel taken for granted, apart from the actual racing there is very little in the way of facilities for the average fan, not to mention the toilets which deteriorate by the hour during the meetings. Perhaps we may join you at Lakeside as you say they have a decent team and at the moment the Championship looks more interesting than the Premiership.
-
I still fail to see how the BSPA will be able to pass the track/stadium especially after reading rules 9.2.4 and 9.2.5.1 I know speedway is losing fans and tracks need to make money but these alterations seem to me to be about making money rather than keeping the Speedway at Rye alive. If any refs padt or present are reading these posts your point of view would be interesting to hear.
-
It's all very well saying you moved to somewhere else after a few minutes and then had a perfectly good view of the track but how can everyone move to somewhere else if other fans are already standing there so its obvious not everyone is going to get a decent view of the track. It's a shame the practice you attended on Sunday wasnt made common knowledge on the Rye website then we could all have gone and seen for ourselves what is ahead. As for the rules they state essential equipment should be placed as near to the centre of the inner green as possible, as a meeting cannot take place without paramedics in attendance I assume their medical equipment comes under that ruling so are they expected to sit on top of a pile of mud. I love my speedway and will be at Rye for the first meeting and will decide from there whether I will be giving them my hard earned cash after that.
-
The shipping container was there last year and the scaffolding/stands were in front and above it, they are not there in the picture so will they or won't they be back. The white building to the left I believe is the burger bar so I don't think the refs box has been installed yet. I totally agree that unless you are higher up than ground level you won't be able to see the whole track and the whole thing looks a complete mess. I reckon the fans who came over from Lakeside last year will go back to Lakeside and possibly more of us may join them.
-
Wish it was an April fool unfortunately it isn't. To me rule 9.2.4 makes it look as if it is illegal but I suppose the powers to be will make the final decision and we all know how keen they are on their interpretation of the rules.
-
Reading that regulation it reads to me that the mess on the green is illegal. Certainly looks like bye bye speedway at Rye. Wonder how the referee will view it on the track inspection i won't be surprised if the meeting doesn't get the go ahead after fans have already entered the stadium. Surely with alterations like this to the centre green someone from the SCB should be looking it over before the season starts.
-
Is that mess on the centre green legal? Where are the paramedics going to sit? How about the track staff with the red flags etc I thought they all had to stand about 4 metres from the track when a race is in progress - will they have to stand on top of a pile of mud? And as someone else said people on the back straight will need a ladder to stand on to see the starting tapes. Sorry but my opinion is this is a disaster waiting to happen.

Don't know why Poole fans are moaning about no team Kevlars their lucky we have to share one bike!
-
Hurry up with the photo mate we've only got 2 minutes to do this garden!

It is a fact that since the end of last season there has been very little information on the Rye website which is what a lot of us are commenting on, if there was more info forthcoming from the management we might have something more substantial to discuss and feel more inclined to get behind the management. When we attend our first home meeting we will hopefully be able to see improvements made to the stadium and then perhaps we will be more enthusiastic about the forthcoming season. I for one really want to see the team finish at least in the top four.
-
Me being the sceptic I am thinking perhaps p & p didn't go ahead because the track really wasnt fit but also because alterations/improvements being made to the stadium might not be to the fans liking and the promotion didn't want any info getting out before the first meeting !! The weather for Monday is looking bleak so we may have to wait a bit longer for all to be revealed. Anyone passing the stadium this week could perhaps have a nosey round to put our minds at rest.
-
I couldn't make it to Tatum and Pearson so it's interesting to read about it but it's just a shame it had to be on this forum rather than on the Rye website. Shame about Doyle I saw him riding for a short while at Rye until Len Silver let him go.
-
Quite agree. We go because we love Speedway but it feels like they are doing us a favour keeping the Speedway going and I dont want it to feel like that I want it to feel like a Club and a Team we can and want to support and I don't think I am the only one who feels this way after talking last season to others that I stand near at the track. Perhaps there is not enough profit in it nowadays, I am beginning to think things will diversify to an extent that the Speedway at Rye will take second place to other things i.e. KTM outlet etc. I know they have sponsorship in the programme of races etc. but I feel other clubs, Poole for example ( without trying to stir up a hornets nest) do put themselves about trying to get lots of sponsorship and also their Xmas pop up shop at least it must make the supporters feel as though their club are trying. We have had very little information at all on the website during the winter about how the stadium improvements are progressing, basically we have been told the team for the coming year and the announcement that there would be no press and practice. Some may say we are lucky at least we have a track and a team riding on it - to that that my response is "for how long". I just hope i can feel more enthusiastic about Rye House once the seasons starts, I hope I can as I know the riders do it for a living but also because they love the sport as much as us supporters.
