I don't know how the rules work regarding meeting clashes for riders who do both speedway and longtrack but perhaps promoters should look at all these points before signing riders because it's this type of occurance that is upsetting many fans, it's bad enough losing a rider because he is doubling up within speedway leagues but to lose him to an event in a different category within motorsport to me is even worse.

Belle Vue -v- Rye House
hammer1969 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I wasn't happy about Chris Harris missing meetings either, although the situation with Ricky Wells is not ideal we knew when we signed him Edinburgh would have first call on him. Eddie has been our captain for a couple of years now and I would have hoped he would put Rye House first and lead the team from the front and not desert them for a meeting abroad. -
Never thought I'd be saying this but I'm really unhappy that Eddie has deserted us tonight for a Longtrack meeting abroad rather than leading the team at Belle Vue and as his average has dropped and he never does much at away meetings perhaps he needs to go.

I was going to make the trip to Belle Vue tonight, but glad I didn't now, no disrespect to the guest riders tonight, I knew Ricky wasn't riding but i like to see our full team riding as much as possible even if they lose and i think it's pretty bad that our captain deserts us to take part in a Longtrack meeting abroad. -

Anyone know why Eddie Kennett isn't riding? -
Eight weeks between our last Saturday night meeting and the next one, with one home meeting on a Wednesday in between against Belle Vue that possibly a lot of regular fans probably couldn't attend due to work etc. What about the Coventry fans who were coming down on Sunday by coach I just hope they don't end up being out of pocket as presumably the coach company required a deposit. What a shambles no wonder us fans are cheesed off. I doubt this challenge match will be rescheduled and if it is will Coventry bother to book a coach and will Rye fans bother to turn up - I doubt it.

14/6/17 Rye House V Belle Vue
hammer1969 replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
They've improved a bit on last year's but still not as good as they were a few years ago. On Saturdays we have an ice cream van so if that's there tonight you could always try that in the heat we have at present. We're just hoping they water the track otherwise it will be fish & chips covered in shale (lol) Hope you enjoy the meeting. -
Is Troy Batchelor confirmed for Rye as I cant see it on their website yet?

Kings Lynn Stars Vs Rye House 07/06/17
hammer1969 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Conspiracy, no conspiracy, etc. what a shame our sport has been reduced to this. Perhaps this could have been avoided if Kings Lynn had put a link on their website to the weather forecast page that was predicting strong gales etc. as all the forecasts that I, and it would seem many others, looked at seemed OK for this meeting to go ahead. Years ago (too many to mention) before the days of mobiles, computers etc. I travelled up from London to Kings Lynn for a meeting to support my team, although the weather was looking decidedly dodgy before I even left home, we were actually in the car park about an hour prior to start time, it was pouring down and word went round the meeting was off, we didn't moan we just turned round and drove back to London. All we ask as fans is proper rules and proper decisions as we want to see our sport prosper not just fade away. -

KL should take a look at Leicester. As Rye fans we travelled to Leicester on Bank Holiday Monday, the meeting due to start at 2pm actually started at 3pm after extensive track work. Yesterday we we're coming to KL but after the farce that materialised we definitely won't bother with the re-scheduled meeting even if the Sun shines all the previous week. Also its about time the BSPA sorted out its rules etc only the Referee should be able to call off the meeting and I know it won't happen but KL should receive a points deduction and also be fined. The BSPA are killing this sport no wonder fans are voting with their feet and staying away. -
Leicester V Rye House 29.05.17
hammer1969 replied to Barrow Boy 2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm a Speedway supporter Leicester is not my team but I totally agree, I feel all speedway in this Country gets hardly any advertising or media coverage and what doesn't help is years ago many teams used to be near built up areas where residents would live within walking distance but now lots of those stadiums are housing estates and also some stadiums are in remote areas (unlike Leicester) so people don't even know they exist. Advertising can be expensive but every little helps I have stickers on my car windows and when I stay in hotels and do a Trip Advisor review I always put "the hotel is close to Motorway, Railway Station etc and Leicester (or other) Speedway etc" it is not much but I feel every little helps. -

Quite agree, it seemed totally unintended and Ellis being excluded from the re-run was the right decision on what was a tricky track. Well done to the track staff, we chanced the trip up the motorway even though the weather wasn't looking good and really pleased that the meeting went ahead but more pleased that it was a good close meeting but we won away at last. -

Rye website saying its all systems go for tonight with just light rain forecast this afternoon, I live about 45 minutes from the track and its pouring down here at present and the clouds appear to be blowing in Rye's direction, anyone closer than me to the track who has updates on the weather it would be appreciated No sooner asked about the weather and rain stops and the Suns out, let's hope it stays that way lol

Totally agree with your thoughts. I dont know all the in's and out's of how the Rob Branford situation at Rye House came about when he had to ride for Sheffield and not Rye on 8th April but I do know that us fans were told that for the rest of the season we had priority over him so I am of the opinion that he should have been riding for us on the 8th April in the first place and not Sheffield. The governing body with all these bad decisions will be the end of Speedway within the next few years unless they get their act together as they are driving fans away and without us paying through the gates every week there will be no speedway. Perhaps when a rider signs a contract for a team whether it's at the beginning of the season or part way through it should be stated in the contract who has priority over his services then if he is doubling up and there is a clash of meeting the rider himself will be in a position to say yes or no as "it's in my contract that X team has priority over my services and that is where I will be riding". It may or may not do any good but the BSPA and the SCB both have email addresses perhaps fans who feel strongly about what is going on should tell them, I don't mean a rant and rave email (but I know we all feel wound up about the situation) but an email with positive suggestions and comments in it - will they listen - I don't know but it may be worth a try. -
Redcar website today is saying Ellis Perks will be out for around 10 days, that would rule him out for the meeting next Friday at Somerset and the home meeting the following day, let's hope he can recover quicker than that as we really need him in the team. http://redcarbears.co/2017/05/13/news-update/

I was also there and Banditsforeva is correct, the problem is the Manager, the TR should have been used at the first opportunity as nobody knows what will happen in following races.
